Our Departments EXCESS LIABILITY DEPARTMENT Excess liability, both insurance and facultative reinsurance, has been a major part of our business since its inception. We are well known to risk managers of many major corporations for our expertise in design and placement of large excess programs. These abilities in turn carry over to the services we provide for many smaller regional firms. PROPERTY DEPARTMENT The property department s focus is on the conception and placement of worldwide property insurance programs along with negotiating facultative reinsurance programs. Our creative approach utilizes many U.S. and foreign markets. SPECIAL RISKS DEPARTMENT The special risks team handles a variety of management, professional, financial and other unique lines of coverage. Principally focused on directors and officers, employment practices, fiduciary and errors & omissions the department also has extensive experience in aircraft products liability as well as special travel contingency, crime-fidelity, excess workers compensation and surety. We are particularly adept at unusual situations with an eye towards emerging trends in the marketplace. TREATY DEPARTMENT Thomas E. Sears, Inc. has been placing treaty reinsurance on behalf of our clients for well over sixty years and our prominence in this area continues today. We are the designated intermediary for all types of companies ranging from smaller regional firms to large national carriers. Our Principals Richard W. Sears, Jr., President/Director Rick began his insurance career as an underwriter for the Shelby Mutual Insurance Company and subsequently with the Kemper Group of Insurance Companies. He received his broking training from Price Forbes and Company, Ltd., London, England. Before becoming President of Thomas E. Sears, Inc. in 1976, Rick held the office of Executive Vice President. Rick is a licensed Massachusetts Property and Casualty Insurance Broker and Advisor. He holds an undergraduate degree in Insurance and Finance, as well as, an MBA, from Northeastern University. Benjamin W. Sears, Executive Vice President/Director Ben started his insurance career as a junior broker for Price Forbes and Company, Ltd., London, England. He formally joined Thomas E. Sears, Inc. in 1993 as a broker with our affiliated wholesale facility, U.S. RE Insurance Agency, where he placed various lines of commercial insurance. In 2002, Ben transitioned into Thomas E Sears, Inc. as a broker in the Excess Liability Department. In 2003, he was promoted to Vice President and elected to the Board of Directors. He now splits his time between Excess Liability, Treaty and overseeing the operations of the firm. Ben graduated from The College of Wooster and earned his MBA at Boston College. He also graduated from the Aetna Insurance Institute and is a licensed Massachusetts property and Casualty Broker. Thomas E. Sears, Inc. 5

Department Leadership Walter Ingrao, Senior Vice President Walter began his insurance career in 1976 with Thomas E. Sears. Inc. Having worked in various departments, Walter s background includes the placement of excess liability, self-insured worker s compensation and aviation-related liability programs, as well as other specialty coverages. His most extensive experience is in the negotiation and placement of property programs from mid-size to large global industrial accounts, as either insurance or facultative reinsurance placements. Walter has managed the firm s Property Department since 1999. In addition, he is responsible for various property underwriting facilities, which include Boston International Reinsurance Managers, Inc. A 1981 graduate of Northeastern University, Walter was elected Senior Vice President in 2001. Joseph M. Curley, Vice President Joe joined Thomas E. Sears, Inc. affiliate U.S. Re Insurance Agency in 2006 and assumed his current role as manager of the Special Risks Department in January 2010. In this capacity he oversees the production and servicing of Directors & Officers, Employment Practices and Professional Liability as well as Crime/Fidelity, Surety, and other related lines of coverage. Joe has over 20 years of specialty insurance experience previously holding various underwriting and managerial positions at Aetna Life and Casualty, Travelers and Chubb & Son, Inc. His professional credentials include the designations of Chartered Property-Casualty Underwriter ( CPCU ) and Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding ( AFSB ) from the Insurance Institute of America. He is a 1989 Graduate of Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations. Ron Kennedy, Vice President Ron Kennedy joined the staff of the Thomas E. Sears, Inc. affiliate U.S. RE Insurance Agency, Inc. in 1986. Prior to joining U.S. RE, Ron was an Excess and Umbrella underwriter in the Boston office of Chubb & Son. Ron was elected Vice President of U.S. RE in 1996 and President in 1998. In 2002, Ron was appointed Vice President and department manager of the Excess Liability Department at Thomas E. Sears, Inc. Ron is a graduate of Northeastern University and the Aetna Insurance Institute. 6 Thomas E. Sears, Inc.

Mike Concannon, Vice President Mike Concannon joined Thomas E. Sears, Inc. in 1991 to manage the firm s Treaty Reinsurance Department. Since 1971, he had been with E.H. Walker, Ltd., Inc., (six years as President) with responsibilities in all areas of treaty production and management. Mike also worked as a casualty underwriter in the home office and New England region of the Commercial Union Insurance Group. He graduated from Boston College in 1968 and attended Suffolk University Law School. Steve Agreste, Treasurer/Director Steve Agreste joined Thomas E. Sears, Inc. in 2000. Prior to joining our staff, Steve was a Manager with the regional firm of Cary, Johnson & O Connor, PC, C.P.A. s. He has overall responsibility for the Company s treasury, accounting, and financial reporting operations. Steve is a member of the American Institute of C.P.A. s (AICPA) and the Massachusetts Society of C.P.A. s (MSCPA). He earned his C.P.A. in 1991 and is a 1988 graduate of the University of Lowell, where he earned a Bachelor s degree in Accounting. Tim Silva, Vice President, Information Technology Tim Silva has been with Thomas E. Sears, Inc. since 1978. He graduated in 1981 from Northeastern University s College of Business Administration with a Bachelor of Science degree in management. Tim has overall responsibility for the firm s information technology and systems strategic infrastructure. Tim also oversees the firm s quality management program and operations. Thomas E.
