Faculty Tutorial: Upload a Syllabus and Course Schedule Purpose: To show faculty how to download, update, and then re upload a Syllabus in courses developed by the Office of Online Learning and Web Marketing. The following steps should also be used to re upload a Course Schedule. On your course menu, click Syllabus and Schedule to upload a syllabus and course schedule. First, download the syllabus that is there. To download the syllabus, click Syllabus. Note: It is important to download the syllabus that is already in the course, as it contains valuable information needed for the course and follows the format for all online courses that have been developed by the Office of Online Learning and Web Marketing. Once the syllabus has been downloaded, the instructor needs to update the term and year, add his or her contact information, and update or add any other information relevant to the course. When asked Do you want to open or save the file, click the drop down arrow next to Save. In the sub menu that opens, choose Save As and save the file to your computer. Open the saved file and update it. Be sure to update the term, the year, the Instructor Contact Information, and any other incorrect or outdated information. Save the file, as a PDF, once it has been updated. See the tutorial Save from MS Word to PDF for more information. Locatetheupdatedsyllabusonyourcomputer,thenclick Open. Thenameofyournewfileshouldappeartotherightof FileName. Be sure that under File Options, Yes is selected for Open in a New Window. Note: It is VERY important that Yes is selected, as this allows students who are on mobile devices to be able to view course content. Under Standard Options, select Yes for Permit Users to View this Content. You may also choose to Track Number of Views and/or Select Date and Time Restrictions for the file. Note: It is VERY important that Yes is selected for Permit Users to View this Content, as it makes the file available to students. Then, click Submit. A green Success message will appear at the top of the page and the file will be available to students. Note: Click the title of the file to make sure that it opens and that it is the correct file.
