Overview Description of technology The idea of creating new training centre was to attain light and modern environment, which is simple in administration and eliminates need of management of complex PC or embedded OS by offering a complete virtual and safe desktop environment. The architecture consist of three layers: Virtualization servers with Oracle VM Terminal server with Oracle Sun Ray Software, Terminals: Oracle Sun Ray virtual Display Clients Users friendly thin client (Sun Ray) is low-cost device which is enable to provide safe networked virtual desktop environment. Sun Ray server software acts as a broad caster delivering customized content to each of the Sun Ray clients. It is installed on the server side and composed of three main components : Sun Ray Server Software, Sun Ray Connector for Windows, Sun Desktop Manager. The training room implements Sun Ray technology which eliminates necessity of managing separate environments. It helps to keep safe, quick in preparation and administration training centre. Sun Ray 2 is virtual display client which is a small size device. The typical power consumption is about 4 watts ( this is only 5 % of the power consumption of PC). The Sun Ray 2 supports resolution up to 1600x1200 max at 24 bits colors. It is compatible with Sun s monitors as well as VGA or DVI 3 rd part monitors. Terminal server Sun Fire X4150 is used as a main terminal server which provides enough computing power to keep activity of terminal environment comfortable. Sun Ray Software Sun Ray Software 4 (SRS) works on terminal server and contetns of the following elements:!sun Ray Server Software 3.1!Sun Desktop Manager 1.0!Sun Ray Connector for Windows 1.0 SRS software acts as a broadcaster, delivering customized content to each Sun Ray client from server through the network. It make accessible different operating systems like Microsoft Windows, Linux or Solaris OS. It provides users authentication and encryption between server and clients. This not only enhances security but also helps to reduce complexity of environment administration. SRS Software provides authentic load balancing, optimizing performance by distributing sessions across servers in the group. Sun Ray Connector for Windows provides directly connects to Microsoft Windows terminal services. Virtualization Servers Sun Fires X4450 are used as a virtualization servers where student operating systems are hosted. Virtual infrastructure is based on Oracle VM Server bare-metal technology. Servers are workings in one logical pool with HA and Load Balancing features enabled. The number of virtual operating systems and tools is equal to the number of thin clients and students.
