www.tepid.com Tepid Water Solutions for you and your customers Thank you for your interest in the Stingray product line. This brochure is a representation of our capabilities, and we encourage you to contact your local Stingray representative to learn more about what Stingray can do for your group.

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS SO WHY TEPID? ANSI Z358.1-2014 requires that the water delivered to an emergency plumbing fixture should be TEPID (Appendix B6). Tepid water is NOT cold water! The standard has set the suitable temperature range as being in between 60 F and 100 F. Cold water may provide immediate relief, but prolonged exposure to cold water can result in shock. (a) Tepid water promotes fixture usage. Users need to be able to remain in an emergency fixture for the entire 15 minutes called for by the codes that have adopted ANSI Z358.1 (UPC and IPC), as well as by the MSDS sheets of a product. Users are more likely to use an emergency fixture knowing that tepid water is being supplied rather than straight cold water. Ground water is not the answer as the average ground water across the US is not even tepid. Even in those areas where the average ground water temperature is tepid, remember that this is an average. The best solution is to heat the water and send it through an emergency-mixing valve to insure that you have a year-round tepid solution. Cold Water is defined as being any water temperature under 70 degrees. These cool and cold-water temperatures are enough to drop your body s core temperature significantly. (b) 60-70 F is still considered a dangerous water temperature since controlling your breathing becomes progressively more difficult as water temperature falls toward 60 F. (c) Air temperature has nothing to do with cold water safety. (a) - ANSI Z358.1-2014 (b) - www.coldwatersafety.org (c) - www.coldwatersafety.org

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS LEGIONELLA CONCERNS Many if not most cases of nosocomial (hospital acquired) Legionnaires' disease go undetected, and most detected cases are not reported. Therefore, many health care professionals have the false impression that Legionnaires' disease is rare, but it is actually widespread. Legionnaires' disease is contracted by inhaling water droplets containing Legionella. The hot-water system can be a perfect breeding habitat for Legionella. Legionella grow best in water at 95 F to 115 F. Scale and biofilm within tanks, pipes and fixtures add to the problem by providing food and protection for Legionella. Low flow performance means the SV107 is your solution for virtually every emergency eye/face wash fixture application.

STINGRAY SERIES ACC400 DRENCH HOSES ANSI Z358.1-2014 Features Spray Heads Spray heads are made of soft rubber. Dust Covers The red ABS dust covers protect the spray heads from accumulating dust or debris in between uses. Once the water is activated, the dust covers move out of the way so that the user has unobstructed flow. Finish The drench hoses have a high gloss finish that is easy to maintain and chemical resistant. Control Valve Simply squeezing or pusing on the handle activates the drench hose units. The control valve assembly has no return and shuts off automatically. The dual headed drench hose has a stay open control handle thatnlocks into a stay-open mode once the handle is fully depressed. Additional Components The standard hose for our drench hoses is 5 stainless steel reinforced PVC. Other types of hoses (material and length) are available depending on the application and project requirements. ANSI Z358.1 Our drench hoses can be bundled together with a properly sized emergency mixing valve in order to provide a complete tepid solution and single source accountability. Universal ANSI compliant signage comes with all of our fixtures. Configurations Our drench hoses can be deck mounted, wall mounted, or mounted directly to an emergency plumbing fixture. ANSI Z358.1 In accordance with ANSI Z358.1, a drench hose is considered a supplemental device, unless it meets the flow and pattern of an eye or eye/face wash system, is installed per the location requirements and is able to stay-open. Supplemental devices do not replace other types of emergency equipment.
