There are no activities which are prone to fire hazards in the surrounding area and the project is safe from the fire hazards from the neighboring activities. A detailed study on the flora and fauna in the study area was carried out. Results will be depicted in the EIA report. There are no Archeological sources and hence there will be no threat to protected areas. There are no National Parks in the vicinity of the project. No contaminated water is being let out of the site and hence there will be no deleterious impact on the nearby water bodies. The labor colony is proposed at the project site and all measures such as sanitation, mobile Sewage Treatment Plant, shelter, electricity, safety gadgets, insurance, medical aid are been providing for the safety of the laborers. The wastewater generated from the labour colony is being collected and taken to a mobile Sewage Treatment Plant for treatment. Fresh water is being providing through tankers etc. The waste water generated from the labour colony is being collected taken to a mobile Sewage Treatment Plant for treatment & disposal. Treated grey water is being used for construction, thereby reducing fresh water consumption. A first aid kit is being provided at the security gate for emergency situations. In case of serious and fatal accidents, the laborers will be shifted to the nearby nursing home. The laborers are been made to follow the safety methods during construction. Regular health check-up is being conducting at the site. Ambient air quality monitoring is being conducting for the dust emissions, barricades are put up at the site to avoid 2
Sl No TOR RESPONSE the dust to travel outside the site. Sprinkling of water is being done at regular intervals, to keep the dust generated at the ground level. An external approved agency has been awarded the contract for conducting the same. 21. How the debris management is going to be done during the construction of the project 22. Will there be any awareness programmes planned during the construction and after implementation of the project in the field of Environment, Health and Safety? 23. What is the procedure adopted to over see the environmental related issues during the construction? 24. What are the efforts made to use the eco friendly construction materials? B. AFTER PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION The debris generated from the structural works has been used for filling at the driveways. Yes. Regular awareness programme for the laborers, EHS personnel are being conducted by our Environmental Consultants. The Projects General Manager is also designated as EHS head and would be having weekly review meetings to discuss the issues related with environment. It is proposed to use fly ash blended cement concrete and other locally available materials to be used to the maximum extent possible. 25. What will be the impact on the quality of the under ground water due to the project 26. What will be the impact on the quality of the air in the surrounding area due to the project 27. What will be the impact on the noise level due to the project 28. What will be the threat of fire hazard due to the project operations? There will be no impact on the Ground Water as the proponents have proposed to use the water supplied by BWSSB, bought out from suppliers and not the Ground Water. Due to rain water recharge, the ground water quality and level shall improve over time. There will not be any sources of air pollution other than the DG sets- 380 KVA DG set - 12no 250 KVA DG set 5 no Shall be installed as back-up power during power failure. Occasional emissions of DG Sets shall be there. There will be negligible emissions of SO 2. It will be extracted into above 17 m from Ground level in leeward direction. The only sources of noise pollution are the DG sets, for which acoustics will be provided. The buildings are designed as per the fire norms. The only source of fire hazard could be from the stored fuel, which is going to be stored as per the safety regulations to avoid any such 3
29. What will be the additional load of burden of solid waste from the project and how it is going to be handled? 30. What will be the additional load of burden of hazardous waste from the project and how it is going to be handled? 31. What will be the impact of waste water pollution on the soil and ground water due to the waste water generated? How it is going to be combated? 32. What will be the impact of leachate due to the solid waste from the project? 33. What will be the steps taken to conserve the fresh water during the operation phase of the project 34. What will be the procedure adopted to over see the environmental related issues during the operation phase of the project? 35. Will the project have any impact on the surrounding area temperature by the accidents and hence there will not be any threat of fire hazards. Incase of unforeseen situation, the fire safety measures as per the fire norms required will be provided for fire fighting During operation phase 4.1 MT/Day of MSW ( Organic- 2.5 TPD & Inorganic 1.6 TPD) and 20 Kg/Day of STP sludge shall be generated. Organic waste will be taken to bio-converter and inorganic waste will be given to BBMP Recyclers. STP sludge will be used back as manure on garden. There will be no Hazardous Waste generated except the used oil form DG Sets. The same will be handed over to authorized recyclers. Waste water generated will be treated using STP adopting advanced Sequencing Batch Reactor with diffused aeration, and the treated water will be used back in toilet flushing, landscaping, etc. Hence there will be no impact on soil or ground water as zero discharge policy will be adopted. The organic waste is going to be stored in a covered area with impervious flooring and will be converted using bio converters and hence there is no question of coming in contact with rain water or any water to get the leachate. Waste water generated will be treated by adopting advanced Sequencing Batch Reactor, and will be used back in toilet flushing, landscaping, etc. The total water demand during operational stage will be 1260 KLD. Out of this 833 KLD will be fresh water for domestic utilities and 427 KLD will be treated water for flushing. During monsoon season rain water will be harvested and collected in collection tanks, and used back as domestic water depending upon the intensity of the rain. An Environment Management Cell will be set up to monitor the environmental related issues. The General Manager Maintenance will be made the EHS head with proper training and regular awareness programmes will be conducted to the persons related with the environmental Issues. Since the proposed project is a residential one, there will be no glazing used as wall material 4
