Digital StoreFront 7.6 9 Important s Operating System Support New installations of Digital StoreFront 7.x are supported only on servers running a 64-bit version of Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012 R2 operating system. System Requirements and Database Backup Please ensure that the server you are upgrading meets the minimum system requirements for Digital StoreFront 7.x as specified in this document on page 19. You must perform a backup of your database before upgrading to Digital StoreFront 7.x. Pause During Installation The installation process can appear to get stuck on Stopping EFI.DSF.PdfService service and Stopping Digital StoreFront Conversion Service. It is not stuck, however, but merely waiting for the services to stop and shut down. Please note that the wait can last 4 6 minutes for each service. Important Statement for Customers Who Install SQL Server 2012 If you install Microsoft SQL Server 2012 for use with Digital StoreFront, please contact EFI Professional Services or EFI Technical Support for assistance with known issue 29678. This issue causes irregular numbering of orders placed in Digital StoreFront (e.g., instead of 1, 2, 3, 4,..., the orders might be numbered 1, 2, 999, 2000,...). This issue is a by-product of new functionality introduced in SQL Server 2012 that causes the identity field in the database to skip values. Contact information for EFI Professional Services and EFI Technical Support is on page 5. Important for Customers Using AuctionInc Please direct all questions related to AuctionInc setup and operation to Digital StoreFront Technical Support (for contact information see page 5) not to AuctionInc technical support. Important Notice for Customers with Customized SmartStore Storefronts Digital StoreFront 7.6 introduced several new features that required changes and additions to the CSS (cascading styles sheet) styles that define the appearance of SmartStores. If you have not made any advanced customizations to the CSS of the default SmartStores, you do not need to take any action and can disregard this notice. If you have made any advanced customizations to the CSS of the default SmartStores but do not intend to use one or more of the following new features introduced in Digital StoreFront 7.6 EFI VDP powered by DirectSmile (e.g., AccuZIP direct mail), digital download products, and wide format finishing services (grommets for banners; hems and pockets), you do not need to take any action and can disregard this notice. Classic storefronts will continue to work as before, and newly created sites will work with no issues. If you have made changes to the CSS of your SmartStore storefronts and intend to use one or more of the new features introduced in Digital StoreFront 7.6, you will need to complete the appropriate action below to reconcile your customized CSS with the new feature CSS to ensure that your SmartStore storefronts are displayed properly.
10 EFI Digital StoreFront 7.6 Release s Recommended Workflows If you have made only minor customizations to your SmartStore storefront(s) CSS (such as changing the color of buttons or a typeface of certain label classes), we recommend that you complete Workflow 1 for SmartStores with Minor Customizations on page 30. If you have made more extensive changes to your SmartStore storefront(s) CSS (such as modifying the behavior of certain elements such as the hover action on certain button classes), we recommend that you complete Workflow 2 for SmartStores with Major Customizations on page 32. Important Statement for Self-Hosted Customers Using CyberSource This statement applies only to self-hosted Digital StoreFront customers who use CyberSource for payment processing: Please be aware that if you have used Digital StoreFront s bulk user import (via the Export / Import page) and the state and/or zip code information data was invalid, certain credit card transactions will possibly fail. To mitigate this risk, you will need to do one of the following: OR If you wish to disable the auto-filling of user profile fields from Digital StoreFront in Cybersource page (i.e., thus requiring users to enter their full billing details with each transaction): a. Go to Administration > Platform Settings > Credit Card Management and Configuration. b. Click Merchant Accounts. c. In the merchant accounts table, select the check box for the Cybersource Secure Acceptance merchant account you want to edit. d. Click the Edit icon. e. In Account Setup Authorization (Mandatory Fields) section, check the Disable Billing Address Autofill box. If you would like to clear the invalid data, please contact the Digital StoreFront technical support team via the contact information on page 5. Remote Print Center (RPC) Remote Print Center Security Enhancement Digital StoreFront 6.0 introduced a new version of Remote Print Center (RPC) that secures all RPC web services. Upgrading to this new security-enhanced version of RPC is optional. To enjoy the benefits of the new security enhancements, however, you must reinstall RPC. During installation you will be prompted to enter Digital StoreFront user credentials. Please enter credentials for a user who has privileges to manage print shops (e.g., an administrator). Please note that the RPC also now supports.net framework 4.5. If you have an existing instance of the RPC then it will work fine without any change. When you download a new version of the RPC, it will be supported with.net frame work 4.5. Approver Import Template Must Be Updated Important : Please note that pre-7.4 versions of the approver import template (Approver_Configuration.csv) used to import approvers to Digital StoreFront on the Import page will no longer work in Digital StoreFront v. 7.4 and higher. This change was made to allow approval policies for cost centers and accounting codes. See the What Is New in Digital StoreFront 7.6 document (see the Digital StoreFront 7.4 section under the What Was New In pre-7.6 Versions of Digital StoreFront heading) for information on this approval functionality.
Digital StoreFront 7.6 11 To import approvers to Digital StoreFront v. 7.4 and higher, you must update to the new template. To do this: 1. Go to Administration > Export / Import. 2. Click Download on the Export page to download the new template. 3. Edit your approval policies as needed (e.g., add approval policies). 4. Go to the Import tab. 5. Select your revised template and click Import Template to import it. Customizing Email Notifications For email customizations to work correctly, you must activate the Overrides are currently active control on the Language Management > Customize Strings page. When using the Test Email function on the Instant Email Notification page you must specify a test email address for a recipient who is a registered member of the company and user group you selected in the Send To section of the page.
12 EFI Digital StoreFront 7.6 Release s Server-Side Conversion of Microsoft Office Files (64-bit) For the conversion of Microsoft Office files to work correctly, you must make sure that Microsoft Office is running in 32-bit architecture to match Digital StoreFront s file conversion utility, which runs in 32-bit because it depends on other 32-bit applications to perform the file conversion. Digital StoreFront does not support the 64-bit version of Microsoft Office at this time. For Microsoft Excel files to convert properly, make sure the operating system s locale settings (i.e., region and language options) match the language used in Excel. Digital StoreFront and Virtual Environments Digital StoreFront can be installed in a virtual environment. To license the software, EFI supplies customers with a USB dongle; therefore, the virtualization instance must have the ability to see a USB device at all times. Digital StoreFront Technical Support will not consider you out of contract if you are running Digital StoreFront on a virtual machine. For Digital StoreFront customers with a current support agreement, EFI will use commercially reasonable efforts to investigate potential issues with Digital StoreFront software running on a virtual machine. As part of that investigation, EFI may require the issue to be reproduced independently from the virtual machine environment. Where issues are confirmed to be unrelated to the non-virtual environment, EFI will support its Digital StoreFront software in a manner that is consistent with support provided when that software is not running in a virtual environment. To clarify: EFI does not support virtual environments but does support Digital StoreFront running in virtual environments. EFI understands that Digital StoreFront can be used in a virtual environment if that environment supports USB (necessary for the dongle), and EFI will support the Digital StoreFront software (see the item above and the general Digital StoreFront system requirements). EFI will not be responsible for your virtual environment or the setup of your virtual environment. Third-Party VDP Support: XMPie and FusionPro XMPie should be installed and run on a separate server (not the Digital StoreFront server) as XMPie may require additional system resources that can affect the performance of Digital StoreFront. FusionPro should be installed and run on the Digital StoreFront server. XMPie 6.6 Support Digital StoreFront supports XMPie 6.6.1 with Adobe InDesign 6.0. To obtain the current version of XMPie go to http://www.efi.com/dm/dsfupgrade/. Please select customer hosted or cloud depending on which type you have. Please note that prior versions of XMPie that EFI has delivered will work with Digital StoreFront 7.x, so upgrading to the latest version is optional. XMPie ships on two discs one that contains the XMPie mini-server and another that contains the XMPie udirect Standard/Classic and the XMPie Designer. XMPie 6.6 includes: 1 Mini-server license 1 udirect Standard/Classic license Unlimited Designer licenses FusionPro Suite 9.2 Support FusionPro ships on two discs one that contains the FusionPro VDP Producer API and another that contains the FusionPro Desktop VDP Creator (which used to be called Server) and the FusionPro Designer. FusionPro 9.2 includes: 1 - Producer license
Digital StoreFront 7.6 13 1 - Creator license 2 - Designer licenses (i.e., for 2 installations) If Digital StoreFront is customer-hosted, and you are under an active maintenance agreement, you can order the upgrade disk at http://www.efi.com/dm/dsfupgrade/. You will need to provide your dongle number and a shipping account number to get the new software. The upgrade kit contains the FusionPro Desktop VDP Creator and FusionPro VDP Producer API installation discs. A new FusionPro license is needed only for a major release of FusionPro (e.g., 8.0, 9.0). Thus, if you have a license for FusionPro 9, you do not need to upgrade your license to run FusionPro 9.2. If you have a license for FusionPro 8 or earlier, however, you will need to obtain a license to run the latest version of FusionPro (i.e., 9.2). s on Internet Information Service (IIS) 7.5 Configuration The Digital StoreFront configuration has been updated to optimize the use of system resources and improve site performance. on Custom Reports Custom Reports for Cloud-Based Systems: Custom reports for cloud-based (EFI-hosted) customers must be developed by EFI Professional Services. Cloud-based customers, please contact EFI Professional Services if you need to have custom reports developed. (For EFI Professional Services contact information, see page 5.) on EFI Fiery JDF Support JDF Generation A ticket template that offers both binding and stapling is possible in Digital StoreFront, but this combination is incompatible with JDF. In the rare event that a customer requests binding with stapling, Digital StoreFront s JDF job ticket will only request the binding. This is by design and is part of JDF. on PrintMessenger on Windows 2008 Servers The PrintMessenger installation will fail to Reset and Execute on certain Windows 2008 servers due to permission issues. Thus, if after performing Reset and Execute on the Administration > Installers page you receive an error message (i.e., Error: Access to path is denied ), do this: 1. In Windows Explorer navigate to the folder c:\inetpub\wwwroot\dsf\dsffiles. 2. Delete the following folders: Client Client 64 3. Log in to Digital StoreFront and go to Administration > Installers. 4. 14 EFI Digital StoreFront 7.6 Release s on the Enhanced Approval Functionality Post Digital StoreFront 6.6 Please be aware that Digital StoreFront enhanced approval functionality (introduced in v. 6.6) brought some changes to the existing approval workflow and provides many new and enhanced features per customer requests. For instance, you can configure single or multi-level price-based approvals not only for companies and print shops but for departments, users, and groups as well. You are also now able to configure productbased approvals. For complete details on approvals in Digital StoreFront, see the admin online help and the interactive tutorial on the DSF Forum (http://dsfforums.efi.com/showthread.php?357-elearning-interactive-tutorials-how-to- Set-Up-Approvals). on Creating and Editing Storefronts When you create or edit storefronts, Digital StoreFront clears its cache to ensure that your storefronts are saved properly. After clearing the cache, the system will reload the pages on your site. While the pages are reloading, the performance of the site will be slower than normal. To minimize the impact on customer experience, it is strongly recommend that you create and edit storefronts during non-peak hours. New Features & Enhancements in Digital StoreFront 7.6 For details on the new features and enhancements in Digital StoreFront 7.6, see the document What Is New in Digital StoreFront 7.6. PrintMessenger is not currently supported with Active Directory with Federated Identity Services option. Digital StoreFront leverages advanced functionality of Active Directory servers called Microsoft Active Directory Federated Services to provide cross-organization authentication with single signon capabilities. Although EFI provides customers with the tools needed to define Active Directory servers within the Digital StoreFront platform, EFI cannot provide support for installing,
Digital StoreFront 7.6 15 configuring, or maintaining the Active Directory servers. This should be done by trained IT staff within the customer organization. To accommodate site visitors who are still using these earlier versions of Internet Explorer, it is best to create a classic storefront version of any SmartStore that you create. That way, when a visitor to your site is on one of the older browsers, Digital StoreFront will automatically display the classic version. : Digital StoreFront does have a legacy browser customization feature to jump start the process creating the classic version of a SmartStore. Appendix A: Approval Workflow: Recommended Scenarios Scenario 1: Multiple Company-Level Approvers Use Case: Approvers can approve for only a subset of users in a company (e.g., department or group). Important : Prior to v. 6.6, buyers were required to select an approver from a list of all approvers. Post v. 6.6, buyers no longer choose an approver and all associated approvers will receive approval e-mail notification for orders submitted.
Digital StoreFront 7.6 25 Recommended Action Pending Setup of New Approval Workflow: To prevent confusion on the part of your current approvers who might receive more e-mail notifications than they previously received, we suggest that you take the actions in Appendix B: Interim Measure for Sites that have More than One Company Approver on page 25. Recommended Action: To more specifically assign approvers to buyers, define department-level, group level, or user-level approvers using the new approvals functionality in introduced in v. 6.6. This is done using the Import functionality (i.e., editing the CSV spreadsheet approvals template and importing it). Scenario 2: Single Level and Print Shop-Level Approvers Use Case: A single approver serves as both company and print shop approver. Important : After upgrading to v. 6.6+ with its multi-level approval feature, such approvers will be required to approve each order twice (once for each level). Recommend Action: Alert approvers who serve as both print shop and company approvers that beginning with Digital StoreFront 6.6 they will be required to approve orders twice (once for the print shop and once for the company). Scenario 3 Multiple - Approvers on an approval level Use Case: If there are multiple approvers at an approval level, any one of the approvers can approve an order or product for which they are associated. Once one of the people approves then the approval requirement is satisfied. that if an order is multi-level then a person at the next level will need to approve the order or product, and once the approval at all levels has been satisfied, the order is approved; at that point, the buyer will be informed via e-mail notification. Recommended Action: No action is required. All approvers at a level will receive an approval notification email and any one of them can act on it. Scenario 4: Multiple Approvers at a level Use Case: Approvers approve the orders or products for specific users who are confined to a company, department, group, or individual user. The specificity of the users that an approver is confined to is configurable. Pre-6.6 Workflow: Prior to v. 6.6, buyers were required to select their individual approver from a list of all approvers that were assigned to their company. Pre-6.6, the system restricted approvers to the buyers in a company. Recommended Action: Define user-level approvers using the new approvals functionality in introduced in v. 6.6 using the Import functionality (i.e., editing the CSV spreadsheet approvals template and importing it). 6.6+ Workflow: Once user-level approvers are defined, the appropriate approver(s) will receive email notification emails for the users that they are assigned to. Appendix B: Approval Workflow: Interim Measure for Sites with More Than One Company Approver This section is for those sites that are transitioning from pre-version 6.6 approval workflows and have not yet set up their workflows using the new approval functionality introduced in Digital StoreFront v. 6.6. Before the new approval workflow was introduced in v. 6.6, all company approvers would receive approval e-mail notifications for all orders requiring approval. To prevent confusion on the part of your current approvers we suggest that you take the following actions as an interim measure until your new approval workflow is set up: 1. Send an email to all of your existing company approvers saying something like: We are in the process of updating our approval workflows, and you may receive some notifications erroneously. If you receive an
26 EFI Digital StoreFront 7.6 Release s approval required notification for a user who is not in your approvals hierarchy, please disregard it no action is required. Please do not approve or decline these orders. They will be acted upon by the appropriate approver. We apologize for any inconvenience. Modify the order approval email notification so that it alerts recipients to approve or decline only those orders submitted by buyers for whom they are the appropriate approver. To edit the Order Approval For Approvers email notifications at both the company level and the site level follow the steps in the sections below: To edit the company-level order approval email notification Log in to Digital StoreFront with your administrator credentials. 2. Go to Administration > Companies. 3. On the Manage Company page, click the View / Manage Email Notifications link.
