Metropolitan State University Foundation Privately Funded Scholarships Advanced Dental Therapist Scholarship This scholarship is available to students who complete their Advanced Dental Therapist degree at Metropolitan State. Alumni Association Scholarship This scholarship is provided through the Metropolitan State Alumni Association for graduates of Metropolitan State University who are seeking their second degree, either undergraduate or graduate. Up to two scholarships of approximately $1000 each will be awarded annually. American Family Insurance Endowed Scholarship This fund provides one or more scholarships of up to $500 awarded to an undergraduate student, enrolled in the university s College of Management, who expresses an interest in exploring a career in the insurance industry. Reginald and Frances Coakley Ames Scholarship This scholarship provides up to five awards with a maximum award of $2,500 each, depending on the number of courses needed for graduation. To qualify, applicants must be a resident of Dakota, Ramsey or Washington county. The fund is supported by the Reginald and Frances Coakley Ames Family Fund of The Saint Paul Foundation. Marina S. Anderson Endowed Scholarship M. Olivia Bradshaw Endowed Scholarship This scholarship award was established to honor the memory of M. Olivia Bradshaw, mother of former Metropolitan State University President Wilson G. Bradshaw. Funding was provided by Wilson G. and Jo Anna Bradshaw, as well as Metropolitan State University staff, faculty and students. One award of approximately $750 will be distributed. Marilyn T. Bryant Endowed Scholarship Established by former Metropolitan State University Foundation Board member, Marilyn T. Bryant, this scholarship provides financial assistance to a student in a College of Management graduate program who maintains a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. One award of up to $2,000 is given annually. Kathleen E. Chalekian Endowed Scholarship Fund This $1000 scholarship was established in memory of Metropolitan State Community Faculty, Kathleen Chalekian. Undergraduate students with a declared marketing major and graduate students with an identified concentration in Marketing and a minimum grade point average of 3.25 are eligible. Herbert Collins Endowed Scholarship Established to honor Herbert Collins, who advocated for students of color to finish their higher education degrees by his widow, Nadya. This scholarship is for students in math or science majors or those who can demonstrate a history of supporting persons of color in teaching them math or the sciences. Commers Endowed Scholarship Community Involvement Scholarship This fund, established by the faculty, staff and students of Metropolitan State University, awards one or two scholarships of $250-500 each and is available to students in their Junior or Senior year who demonstrate community involvement and have a grade point average of 3.0 or above. Jerry Cotton Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Endowed Scholarship This scholarship was established in memory of Metropolitan State alumnus Jerry Cotton. Undergraduate students with a law enforcement or criminal justice major pursuing a degree who have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible.

Lois West Duffy Scholarship Educational Empowerment Scholarship This scholarship is available to students who utilize the services of the Disability Services Office. Faculty Textbook Scholars Fund Supported by the faculty of Metropolitan State, this fund provides financial assistance for students to purchase textbooks. Finance Recruitment Endowed Scholarship This scholarship is available to individuals interested in enrolling and studying Finance at Metropolitan State University who have financial need and a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Patrick E. Flahaven Endowed Scholarship Fund This scholarship was established to honor Patrick E. Flahaven for his commitment to higher education by his wife, Maureen. It provides an annual scholarship of approximately $1000 to graduate students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. GLBT and Allies Scholarship The GLBT and Allies (GLBTA) Scholarship fund was established to recognize and reward those Metropolitan State students who demonstrate activism and leadership within the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and/or allied community within Metropolitan State University, the broader community, or both. The Gomez Family Endowed Scholarship This scholarship is provided through the generous contributions of the Maria and Ramon Gomez Family. These funds support an annual scholarship to an undergraduate or graduate student. The amount of the award is $1000. Beverly N. Grossman Endowed Scholarship This renewable scholarship provides financial assistance to students in a Metropolitan State undergraduate or graduate nursing program with a focus on geriatrics and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. One scholarship of up to $3000 is awarded annually. Sue K. Hammersmith Endowed Scholarship Iris Kiedrowski Endowed Scholarship This scholarship provides one award of at least $500 annually to an undergraduate student enrolled in Metropolitan State University s College of Nursing and Health Sciences with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Forrest W. King Endowed Textbook Scholarship This fund provides up to three $115 scholarships to cover books for Metropolitan State courses. N. Judge and Reatha Clark King Family Endowed Scholarship This scholarship was established to assist low income students who maintain at least half time status (6 credits per semester). Reatha Clark King Endowed Scholarship This scholarship was established to honor former Metropolitan State President Dr. Reatha Clark King. Kopp Presidential Scholarship This scholarship is provided through generous contributions from Lee Kopp of Kopp Family Foundation. The funds support up to 20 scholarships to undergraduate students with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The amount of each award is $1,500. Nancy Latimer Early Childhood Endowed Scholarship This fund, established by the McKnight Foundation to honor former senior program officer, Nancy Latimer, provides one $2,200 scholarship annually to a Junior or Senior majoring in early childhood studies. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Scholarship Eligible undergraduate students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above and be enrolled in and pursuing a degree in the Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice program. Lukaszewski Family Professional Development Fund This fund, established by Jim Lukaszewski (a 1974 alumnus of Metropolitan State) and his family, has been made available to help Metropolitan State University undergraduate and graduate students gain a competitive advantage in the workplace through professional development activities prior to graduation. Bonnie Luke Scholarship Bonnie Luke was an academic advisor at Metropolitan State from 1988 to 1994. She had a high regard for students who struggled to balance career, home and children. This scholarship celebrates her commitment to higher education. $750 is awarded each year to qualified students. Fred Manzara Memorial Fund This fund was established to honor the memory of Dr. Fred Manzara, a well-respected faculty member in the University s College of Management. Monies in this fund are used to sponsor the Frederick Manzara Lecture series, support the Frederick Manzara Scholar Award and scholarships for students in the College of Management and some faculty support for significant career enhancing opportunities leading to improved teaching. Roger and Nancy McCabe Endowed Scholarship in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice This scholarship provides awards to undergraduate students majoring in and pursing a degree in Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Roger and Nancy McCabe Endowed Scholarship in Nursing This scholarship provides up to two awards of $1000 annually to a student enrolled in Metropolitan State University s College of Nursing and Health Sciences with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Roger and Nancy McCabe Urban Education Endowed Scholarship This scholarship provides award(s) of at least $500 annually to a student(s) enrolled in Metropolitan State University s Urban Education Program with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 with the ability to demonstrate they ve had a culturally and linguistically diverse life experience. Nancy McKillips Endowed Scholarship Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants Education Fund Scholarship This scholarship is provided through the generous contributions of the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants to junior or senior students majoring in and pursuing a degree in Accounting with a GPA of 3.25 or higher and who have completed Acct 310-Financial Reporting. These funds support one award of $1,000 annually. Susan Morrison Endowed Scholarship for Urban Educators This scholarship was established by Metropolitan State University Alumnus and former Foundation Board member, Susan Morrison. Awards of $2,500 each are given to undergraduate students who are pursuing a teaching degree in the Urban Education Program. Karl Neid Endowed Scholarship This scholarship, established by the widow of St. Paul City Councilmember, Karl Neid, is offered once every two years and provides an award of $1,000 to a student who is a resident of the East Side of St. Paul or a graduate from an East Side high school. Nursing and Health Sciences Scholarship Eligible students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above and be enrolled in a Nursing and Health Sciences program. Oehlke Family Scholarship This renewable scholarship is available annually to undergraduate nursing students who are juniors or seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Ojibwe and Dakota Language Scholarship Scholarships of up to $900 to both students and community members who want to take the Ojibwe or Dakota immersion course, Ojibwe 101 and 102, or Dakota 101 and 102. Scholarships will be given based on financial need. Prison Education Endowed Scholarship This scholarship was established to assist students who are enrolled in the university s prison program by helping them obtain their higher education degree, thus giving them an increased chance of gaining stable employment after release. Psychology Scholarship This fund was established to support undergraduate students majoring in Psychology. Random Acts of Kindness Emergency Scholarship (Kopp Emergency Fund) Established by the Kopp Family Foundation, this fund provides immediate assistance to students with unexpected financial hardships that could prohibit them from continuing their education. Generally, these funds are not for tuition and fees. Recruitment Scholarship Financial support for students who wish to transfer from another higher education institution to Metropolitan State and is available to individuals who have financial need and a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Robert B. and Kathleen C. Ridder Endowed Scholarship in Linguistics This scholarship is for students who are studying language and/or linguistics as part of their bachelor s degrees. Applicants must have successfully completed two language courses at Metropolitan State with a grade of A or B. The Ridder s gave this scholarship to encourage the study of linguistics and world languages at Metropolitan State.

Siegel Equal Justice Scholarship This scholarship was created to honor Joshua Siegel, brother of a 1980 Metropolitan State University graduate. Undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a degree with a Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice major who have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible. Sit Academic Scholarship This scholarship award is provided through generous contributions from Eugene Sit of Sit Investment Associates. The funds support five scholarships annually to undergraduate students with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Each award is $1,000. (Applied for within the Kopp/Sit Scholarship application.) Harry Specht Endowed Community Service Award Harry Specht (1929-1995) inspired a retired social worker to create the Specht Award for social work students of Metropolitan State University. This award is to encourage aspiring social workers to consider work in communitybased social care and is open to daytime juniors and all evening students who have not done their senior practicum. One or more students will receive an award of up to $2,000. Student Parent Center Emergency Fund Support for students with children who experience financial difficulties due to sudden, unplanned events that jeopardize their ability to stay in school. These funds are not for tuition and fees. Student Scholarship Fund This is a general scholarship fund established to provide an additional source of student financial support. Travelers EDGE Scholarship Program This scholarship fund is aimed at preparing students for careers in the insurance and financial services industry and is established to provide financial support to students majoring in accounting, business administration, computer science, finance, marketing and other fields of study from which Travelers recruit prospective employees. Award amounts vary and range between $1500-$6000. Travelers Professional Development/Emergency Fund Established by the Travelers insurance company, this fund provides financial assistance beyond tuition for urgent, unexpected financial hardships that would prevent the attendance at Travelers corporate events or other Pathways Program-related opportunities. The maximum amount of the award is $500. Albert and Deera Tychman Endowed Scholarship This scholarship fund was established to assist low income students who maintain at least half time status (6 credits per semester).
