Introduction This document describes the required computer s system setting and the installation of HIS systems on desktops/laptops. The systems are: NCDC: PIS, PMIS, FoCamed (procurement department only) TCH: PIS TMC: PIS Once the systems are installed, it might happen that in the future new versions are released (containing new functionality, fixed bugs, etc). Each new release has a number (version control). As per 05/02/2014 the latest versions are: PIS 1.81 PMIS 1.1 FoCamed 1.1 If the user reports a problem check first whether the latest version is installed or not. Log in with your user name and password: the version is displayed in the top menu bar. Verify also the system settings of the computer (see Question 1). There are two types of installation of the systems: 1. complete installation: desktops with the systems not yet installed (new computers) 2. installation of new releases: desktops with the systems already installed. The set-up file for the complete installation and new releases are located in the folder D:\HIS\setup PIS and PMIS of the HIS Server NCDC. 3

` Each site has a different set-up file, because the name of the database differs per site. The setup files for the complete installation are: NCDC: D:\HIS\setup PIS and PMIS\NCDC\NCDCPISsetup.exe TMC: D:\HIS\setup PIS and PMIS\TMC\TMCPISsetup.exe TCH: D:\HIS\setup PIS and PMIS\CH\CHPISsetup.exe New releases are also located in the folder D:\HIS\setup PIS and PMIS of the NCDC HIS Server. PIS: PMIS: FoCaMed: D:\his\setup PIS and PMIS\patches PIS\version8.1\pis.exe D:\his\ setup PIS and PMIS\PMIS\version1.1\pmis.exe D:\his\ setup PIS and PMIS\focamed\version1.1\focamed.exe Note that these exe files (new releases) are the same for all locations. The PIS set-up files and new releases are also located at the HIS Server of TMC and TCH (see Question 4 and 5). 4

Question 1. How to change the system settings of the computer? The PIS and PMIS require certain system settings for date and time and for the non-unicode programs (like the PIS because it accepts Arabic characters). You should also verify these settings in case of trouble shooting. Do not forget that sometimes the system configuration has been changed by the users. The short date format setting should be dd/mm/yyyy. The time should NOT be displayed as AM or PM. Verify that the settings are correct by checking the time and date display in taskbar. In this example the date is Feb 7 th, 2014. 1. To change the date and time setting open windows Control Panel and select Clock, Language and Region 5

The Short date format is dd/mm/yyyy which is the correct setting for the HIS systems. The Format should be set at: English (United States). 2. When the date format is not correct click <Additional settings > and select the tab <Date> 3. Enter dd/mm/yyyy in the field Short date and click the Apply button. 4. Click the tab <Time> and select H:mm for Short time and H:mm:ss for Long time. 6

5. Click the OK button. Verify that the settings are correct by checking the time and date display in taskbar. In this example the date is Feb 7 th, 2014. 6. Click the tab <Administrative>. The current language for non-unicode programs should be Arabic (Saudi Arabia). If this is not the case the Arabic names in the PIS will be displayed as?????. 7

7. To change the setting select the button <Change system locale > 8. Select Arabic (Saudi Arabia) and click <OK>. Note that you have to reboot. 8

Question 2. How to access the HIS set-up files or new releases located at the HIS Server from a desktop by Remote Desktop Connection? 1. Use the program Remote Desktop Connection to access the HIS filed located at the Server (NCDC). However, first you have to be sure that the desktop is connected to the HIS network. At NCDC, another network is used for internet access. The IP address of the HIS network is: 192.168.12.xx. The third field should contain the value 12. The last field is the unique number for the computer (desktop). Desktop A: 192.168.12.40 Desktop B: 192.168.12.41 2. To check the IP address click the network icon in the taskbar 3. Click Open Network and Sharing Center 9

4. Right mouse click Lan-Wired and select Properties (in the screenshot Lan-wired is not displayed but Int.) 5. Select Internet Procotol Version 5 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties 10

The settings of the IP address, Subnet mask, Default Gateway, Preferred DNS server should be as shown in the above screenshot. Note however that the 4 th field of the IP address should be unique for each desktop (see above). 6. Change the settings if required and click <OK> 7. Another way to verify if the desktop is connected to the LAN network is to ping the server: 1. click Start and type cmd followed by the enter button 8. Type ping 192.168.12.1 -t 11

The desktop is connected to the network of the server when you see the message reply from 192.168.12.1 The IP addresses of the HIS Servers for the network of TCH and TMC are: TMC: 192.168.0.1 TCH: 192.168.1.100 We now have verified that the desktop (or laptop) is connected to the HIS LAN. The next step is to use the program Remote Desktop Connection 1. Click Start and Type Remote Desktop Connection to search for the program. 2. Click Remote Desktop Connection on the desktop and enter the following values: 12

The IP address the three servers (NCDC, TCH, TMC) is not the same. NCDC: ip address of the server: 192.168.12.1 TCH: ip address of the server: 192.168.100.1 TMC: ip address of the server: 192.168.0.1 Credentials (same for all locations) are: - user name: gert - password: gert123 The desktop of the server is now displayed on your computer. For NCDC the HIS systems are located in D:\HIS\setup PIS and PMIS 13

Question 3. How to install the PIS on a new NCDC computer? This question involves the first installation of the PIS on a NCDC desktop or laptop. In other words, the PIS has never been installed before. 1. Open Remote Desktop Connection and connect to the NCDC HIS Server. See Question 2 2. Desktop server: Open Windows Explorer and go to D:\HIS\Setup PIS and PMIS\NCDC 4. Select the file NCDCPISsetup.exe, right-mouse click and select Copy (or press Ctrl C) 5. Minimize the Server desktop and paste the file NCDCPISsetup.exe by pressing Ctrl V (rightmouse click and select Paste). The PIS setup file is now copied from the server to the desktop of your computer. 6. Click the NCDCPISsetup.exe and follow the installation instructions The PIS is now installed on the desktop/laptop. However the PIS setup file installs not the latest version of the PIS. You have to copy the latest PIS version and, if available, the latest reports to the folder where PIS is installed. 7. Determine first if the desktop/laptop is running on a 32 bits or on 64 bits operating system 14

8. Right mouse click the computer icon (or start -> computer) and click Properties In the above example the Operation System is 64-bits. 8. Desktop server: Open Windows Explorer and go to the folder D:\HIS\Setup PIS and PMIS\patches PIS 8. Right mouse click on the folder patches PIS, select COPY and minimize the desktop of the Server 15

9. Go to the desktop of the computer/laptop and enter CTR V. This command copies the folder patches PIS on your desktop. This step is required because Windows does not allow you to copy files directly on the C drive. 10. Open the folder patches PIS and double click the folder version 1.81. Select the file PIS.EXE and right mouse click select COPY or press CTR C 11. In Windows Explorer go to: Or C:\program files\pis for 32 bits computer C:\program files (X-86)\PIS for 64 bits computer 12. Mouse-click the right pane and enter Ctrl V (or right mouse click paste) to copy the PIS.EXE 13. Open the folder patches PIS and double click the folder reports. Select the one of the files and press Ctrl A to select all files 14. Open the Windows Explorer and go to: Or C:\program files\pis\reports for 32 bits computer C:\program files (X-86)\PIS\reports for 64 bits computer 15. Enter Ctrl V (or right mouse click paste) to copy the reports. 16. Verify that you have updated the PIS with the latest version by clicking the PIS short-cut on the desktop and enter your credentials. The version is displayed in the top menu bar 16

The installation process ends with the installation of two files: sql native client and the flash player. 17. Desktop/laptop: open the Windows Explorer and go to: Or C:\program files\pis\temp for 32 bits computer C:\program files (X-86)\PIS\temp for 64 bits computer 18. Double click sqlncli(32).msi to install the sql native client for a 32 bits computer Or Double click sqlncli(64).msi to install the sql native client for a 64 bits computer 19. Follow the installation instructions. 20. Install flashplayer 10 by double clicking install_flash_player_10.0.45. 2.exe. 17

In order to guarantee a proper installation of flash-player 10, it is advised to de-install an eventual existing flash player on the workstation. Execute uninstall_flash_player.exe first in this case. In some cases the flash player cannot be installed; it should be installed directly from the Adobe s website (you will need internet access for this). 21. Verify that the computer s system settings are OK (see Question 1). 22. Delete the setup file (NCDCPISsetup.exe) and the folder patches PIS which you have copied to the desktop of your computer/laptop. You can also use an USB stick and copy all the required files on the stick. Copy those files directly on the desktop of the computer/laptop and follow the instructions above. However, desktops may be infected with an virus, which will copied to your USB stick (and infect the remaining desktops subsequently). 18

Question 4. How to install the PIS on a new TMC computer? This question involves the first installation of the PIS on a TMC desktop or laptop. In other words, the PIS has never been installed before. The set-up procedures are described in the previous sections (Question 1 3). However, there are differences in terms of 1) the IP address server and 2) the location of the HIS files on the TMC server. For access to the TMC server by Remote Desktop Connection type the IP address 192.168.0.1 The set-up PIS file (first installation) is located at: C:\HIS\Setup PIS\TMC and is called TMCPISsetup.exe The latest PIS release is located at: C:\HIS\Setup PIS\patches PIS 19

Question 5. How to install the PIS on a new TCH computer? This question involves the first installation of the PIS on a TCH desktop or laptop. In other words, the PIS has never been installed before. The set-up procedures are described in the previous sections (Question 1 3). However, there are differences in terms of 1) the IP address server and 2) the location of the HIS files on the TMC server. For access to the TMC server by Remote Desktop Connection type the IP address 192.168.1.100 The set-up PIS file (first installation) is located at: C:\HIS\Setup PIS\CH and is called CHPISsetup.exe The latest PIS release is located at: C:\HIS\Setup PIS\patches PIS 20

Question 6. How to install a new release of the PIS on a computer? In the future new PIS versions are released (containing new functionality, fixed bugs, etc). Each new release has a number (version control). As per 05/02/2014 the latest version of the PIS is 1.81 Follow the instructions as described in the Section Question 3, steps 7 16. Note that the location of the new PIS releases on the Servers is not the same: NCDC Server: TMC Server: TCH Server: D:\his\setup PIS and PMIS\patches PIS\ C:\his\setup PIS and PMIS\patches PIS\ C:\his\setup PIS and PMIS\patches PIS\ IP addresses for Remote desktop connections settings are: NCDC: 192.168.12.1 TMC: 192.168.0.1 TCH: 192.168.1.100 21

Question 7. How to install /update PMIS and FoCaMed on a NCDC computer? This question involves the first installation of FoCaMed and/or PMIS on a NCDC desktop or laptop. In other words, the systems have never been installed before. The set-up files for the first installation on a new desktop/laptop are located at the Server: FoCaMed: d:\his\setup PIS and PMIS\Focamed\setup new computer\setup.exe PMIS: d:\his\setup PIS and PMIS\PMIS\setup new computer\pmissetup.exe Follow the instructions as described in Section 3. After the installation, update the PMIS and FoCaMed with the latest release: FoCaMed: d:\his\setup PIS and PMIS\Focamed\version 1.1\focamedARV.exe PMIS: d:\his\setup PIS and PMIS\PMIS\version 1.1\pmis.exe These files should be copied to their correspondent locations at the C:\program files (x86)\focamed and C:\program files (x86)\pmis, respectively 22
