Formulation of disaster preparedness plan and preventive measures. To form distinct / township disaster preparedness, relief and resettlement committee and subcommittees and also form committee at ward and village tract level.

Co Co Kyun Sometimes Traditional habit can save the people s life. Many people from Cocogyun saved their life by their traditional habit. On every Full moon day, due to the increasing tidal wave, nobody went to the sea and do fishing. Fortunately, 26 December is Full moon day and everybody was in their home. So their lives were saved by their habit. This is one thing. 2 nd things was seismic gap or end point of subduction zone is near Cocogyun. 3 rd point, water level was unexpectedly reduced lowering down to (6)ft. from normal level.

The commander took arrangement on relief and resettlement to be carried out for victims of tidal waves triggered by a strong earthquake.
Total Loss of Life and Properties (61) deaths, 42 injured (601) houses of 17 villages were destroyed (2592) people homeless. Total Loss of property valued at about 1585.6 million kyats (All these dead bodies were management by local people in traditional way.)
