Program structure: http://www.uio.no/english/studies/programm es/nsa-master/structure/ There is normally a short thesis (30 credits), but from this fall we will probably annonce some topics for long thesis (60 credits) as well.
Semesterfee Everybody has to pay the semester fee to the University of Oslo. It means that you only pay the semester fee to the one of the institutions. The deadlines for paying the semester fee are: Fall semester: 1 st of September Spring Semester: 1 st of February Payment information, i.e. account number, new KID number and the total amount to be paid can be found in StudentWeb. You can pay in the same way as you usually pay invoices through your bank. Do not fill in an invoice by hand - use Net banking. Only new students are automatically sent invoices in the post. If necessary, you can order an invoice in StudentWeb. New program students will receive an invoice in their welcome package.
Registration every semester at both institutions on the studentweb You have to register every semester at both UiO and HiOA When you have paid the semester fee (at UiO) and completed the semester registration, you have been registered as a student for the semester. In Norwegian: 'semesterregistrert'.
Registration for Courses at UIO and HIOA - 1 Compulsory courses: As long as you are following the normal curriculum, you are automatically registered for compulsory courses. If you are attending other courses or are delayed in your course of study, you have to sign up personally for the exam by using your student web.
Registration for Courses at UIO and HIOA - 2: Optional courses You personally have to sign up for optional courses by using student web. Deadline for choosing optional courses at HiOA: Fall semester: 1 st October Spring semester: 1 st March Deadline for choosing optional courses at UiO: Fall semester: 1 st September Spring semester: 1st February If you want to withdraw from an exam, you also use your student web. The deadline are: UiO : two weeks before the exam. HiOA: Fall semester: 1 st of November / Spring semester: 1 st of April
Student loans and grants Student loans and grants from the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund: For those of you who are eligible, you have to send your application for loans and grants by choosing UiO at lånekassens web site
Semester card / student number - 1 UiO: Semester card A UIO-semester card will be sent to you in the post once you have registered for the semester and paid the semester fee. Student number All students at the UiO have a UiO student number. You will also find your number in the StudentWeb.
Semester card/student number - 2 HiOA: Semester card: You are entitled to have semester cards both at UiO and HiOA. The semester card issued by HiOA only works as an access card to the facilities at the university college. To get discounts on e.g. public transport, you have to use the semester card issued by the UiO. Student number: All students at HiOA have a HiOA student number. You will also find your number in the StudentWeb.
