2 3. Fees For Summer School fees click on: 4. Important Notes about Summer School Registration 1. Students are allowed to register on line at ( ) during summer school registration. 2. Registration programme will not be opened for students who remain indebted from the previous terms. Payment needs to be made first. 3. Course selections of students who do not make the payment until deadline will not be taken into consideration. And those selections will automatically be deleted even if courses are approved by advisors. (Students may late register in that case). The demand of the students for taking courses from other universities, whose applications haven t been finalised, will not be approved since they haven t applied for our university summer school. 4. Scholarship and discount are not valid in summer school registration except for scholarship (those who are placed with scholarship by ÖSYM). 5. Students pay tuition fee for the courses they expect to be opened. Fee is calculated by multiplying one hour course fee scheduled with total hours of the course. Fee for each lesson is determined separately for undergraduate and associate degree programme and announced. Total hours of courses are calculated based on the existing hour of courses during the term. For example; for CHEM 101 the hours for T(Theory)+ P(Practice)+ L(Laboratory) are added and total weekly hours are 4 hours as it is T(2)+P(0)+L(2). Summer school fee for one lesson* is calculated by multiplying total hours. 6. Summer school fee is paid in advance for registered courses. The fee of courses which are not opened although students pay for is paid back or transferred to the following term. 7. The students who are registered to double major and subspecialty programmes will do their registration through the Course Registration Form which they can get from the Office of Student Affairs. 8. It is of utmost importance that you read our Regulations and Instructions page to know about all of your rights, responsibilities, and necessary procedures as a Dogus student. Please click for more information. 9. Read Regulations and Registration Rules to be sure that you have properly registered. Failure to register properly could lead to unnecessary complications. 10. To Summer School register for a course, registration should be completed by the student and must be submitted for administrative approval. Your academic advisor should approve the registration and the student must not have any unpaid fees.
3 Failure to meet any of these requirements will result in a failure to be able to register. REGISTRATION RULES Summer School registration Course Registration It is optional to attend summer schools. Students who wish to attend summer schools are supposed to follow the academic calendar application and registration dates and pay and register for courses. Students can register on line at ( ) within the time stated. Registration for summer school is completed after the following steps; students make registration, advisors approve it and tuition fee is paid. During Summer school programmes students can only take courses worth a maximum of ten credits. When enrolling on the courses for summer school programmes, regardless of the priority of the semester, students have the right to register for courses of the previous semester and the compulsory courses of the semester for which they are currently registered. If applicable, students cannot enrol on final semester courses that were not taken before without enrolling on the courses of current or previous semesters. Optional courses can be taken provided that prerequisite conditions are fulfilled. Students of first two semesters cannot take the compulsory courses of the upper semesters during summer school. However, unsuccessful and students on probation who are covered by the Dogus University Associate Degree and Bachelor s Degree Education and Examination Regulation can take the courses that are stated in the same Regulation. Students of the first two semesters who have not taken any courses from the final semester with the equivalent credit of the current semester s exempted courses are permitted to take courses equivalent to their exempted courses. Students are not able to register for graduation assignments/projects in the summer school. However, students who have only this course to complete in order to graduate can enrol with the approval of the relevant board of directors.
4 Between the dates specified in the Academic Calendar, students who complete the course registration process and make the necessary applications can take the courses, or in the case of those courses not being opened in summer school, from universities that have a higher base score providing that they have relevant equivalence, content and credit. If students register for a course without making an application and take a course from another higher education institution without the decision of the board of the related faculty/college, students' courses and grades are not accepted. Students may take a course as a "University Elective" from other faculties with the approval of their own Faculty Board. Add Course Withdrawal Students are allowed to add courses worth a maximum of ten credit within the time stated in the academic calendar. Students can withdraw from a course they have registered for after the expiration of add-drop time and within the days they are given for withdrawal mentioned in the academic calendar. (As part of the Regulations, for the applicable rules, see the Associate Degree-Undergraduate Degree Education Programme and Exam Regulations item no. 22) Students can withdraw from a course or more courses with the approval oftheir academic advisor and with the confirmation of the administrative board of the related faculty/vocational School of Higher Education. To begin this process, a student must apply to the faculty/vocational School of Higher Education with a petition including the information about the course which the students wishes to be withdrawn from. There is no tuition refund in the above-mentioned case. The withdrawn course is indicated with W in the course transcript. ( W indicates that the student has withdrawn from the course. It is not calculated with the student s GPA.) The Amount of Credit During Summer school programmes students can only take courses worth a maximum of ten credits. Students can register double major and minor programme courses in summer school. Total credit could be worth ten in that
5 case. Retaking a Course Students can retake the courses which they pass with D or D+ with the permission of their advisors. Students cannot retake the courses in which they have received C and more than that. A course in which a student has gotten an I cannot be retaken without getting a final grade. For the courses that are repeated, regardless of the previous scores, only the final scores are tallied. Registration to the Courses with Prerequisite Registration to Semester Courses and Following Semester Courses To be able to take a course with a prerequisite, students should pass the prerequisite course. In some cases, the prerequisite does not mean only completing other courses; it also means that they have to be successful at some courses which have a certain number of credits (such as courses like dissertation in their last year). Students cannot register for a course whose prerequisite they haven t taken yet. For the retaken courses, students are not asked to have taken the prerequisite course. It is students responsibility to decide which courses they should register for. Students are advised to register for the courses in their programme in mid- semester to be able to finish their education without delay. However, if they have transfer credits in the semester they are in, they can register for a course which does not have a prerequisite as much as the transfer credit or a following semester course which provides the prerequisite. In addition, students who have the right to take extra courses (students whose Grade Point Average is over 2.00 and 3.25) can register for a course which does not have a prerequisite or they can register for a following semester course whose prerequisite they have already taken.
