LUX HISTORY Lux was founded in 1901, manufacturing and selling kerosene lamps for outdoor lighting applications. Adapting to new market pressures, the company began to search for an alternative product to manufacture and sell. In 1912, it was found when Axel Wenner-Gren started the pioneering success story of Lux vacuum cleaners with the Model Lux I, a vacuum cleaner that he had developed with the help of Swedish engineer Sven Carlstedt. In the years to follow Lux was the first company in the world to successfully sell vacuum cleaners to households, developing a new and innovative direct sales concept of personalised in-home demonstrations. LUX TRAINING AND DEVELOPEMENT Lux Business School is very sales-oriented, with a strong focus on learning by doing. Students attend 3-5 modules, after each module they practice on the field the acquired knowledge. Lux Management School is a high level training for Lux Team Leaders, Assistant Branch Managers and Branch Managers, who seek further development and growth at Lux. The program is focussed not only on business growth opportunities and sales strategies, but also on motivation, recruiting, development and retention of human resources. Lux Academy is the most exclusive program for senior managers. Only few people are invited in this program. The Lux Academy meets and works with the support of internal and external specialists, such as Dale Carnegie, on leadership training, people management and motivational skills. LUX INTERNATIONAL EXECUTIVE TRAINEE PROGRAM A career at Lux In order to grow further and expand around the world, Lux International has set up the International Executive Trainee Program, where every year potential candidates are selected and enrolled. The aim of the program is to identify and develop motivated and future leaders who are interested and willing to support our Lux companies around the world. In a period of three years, you will be working in different positions and Lux companies. During the Executive Trainee Program you will climb the job ladder of Lux. Once you have finished the Executive Trainee Program, you should be ready to take on a senior sales management position within the group. SUCCESS STORIES OF FORMER MEMBERS OF THE LUX INTERNATIONAL EXECUTIVE TRAINEE PROGRAM János Koós Executive Vice President Central and Eastern Europe János Koós, Hungarian, was born in Budapest in 1961 at a time where many economical and commercial challenges appeared. At the age of 16 he already started working in different technical jobs in order to financially support his family and save money for his future studies. Next to an English Language course in Canada he started his studies at the Technical University of Gödöllö and continued another three years at the Architect College of Budapest. In 1989 he built up his own Travel Agency and started as a Tourist Consultant for foreign visitors. János began his career at Lux in 1992 as a Management Trainee and started as a Sales Partner for cleaning systems. Thanks to his excellent sales skills he very soon became one of the top performers in Hungary. By the end of 1992 he was promoted to a Branch Manager. Under his successful leadership three other new branches where soon built up. Right after, he was promoted to a new position and he worked as Regional Manager until 1995. Shortly after, he was transferred for a period to Lux Asia Pacific, where he worked as a Product Manager, based in Malaysia, with the South East Asian Region as his responsibility. «During my time in Asia I was able to gain experience and to build up my skills in various Lux business units. At the same time, I explored different cultures around the world», János says. After his return from Asia, he took over the position as Managing Director of Lux Hungary where he successfully managed to triple the turnover in the last five years. Today, János is International Director responsible for the Lux Region Central and Eastern Europe and Executive Vice President of the Lux International Executive Board. Mike Wetterling Vice President Europe West Mike Wetterling, German, started his career in direct sales at the age of 20. Motivated, with very good selling and leading skills he soon developed from Salesman, to Team Leader and Branch Manger. Mike began his career with Lux in 2005 as an International Executive Trainee in Germany. In 2006 he was promoted to Branch Manager of 2 branches in Germany and after only 7 months, he became Regional Manager of the Region Germany East. In April 2007 Mike was appointed as Managing Director of Lux Czech Republic. Over three years he focused on developing the company into a very successful and profitable organisation. In this time Mike learned Czech and completed an MBA in General Management at the Chapman University / AAU in Prague and Orange County/CA, where he graduated in summer 2010. In May 2010 Mike was entrusted the position of Managing Director of Lux Austria and Lux Switzerland with the task to further develop these countries. Moreover Mike took over the responsibility of the Lux International Executive Management Trainee Program in Austria, where he supports the development of the future Lux leaders. Mike himself graduated from the Lux Academy in June 2010. In 2013, Mike then took over the responsibility as Managing Director of Lux Germany and was promoted as Vice President Europe West into the Executive Board of Lux International. Thanks to the Lux International Executive Trainee Program, Mike had the opportunity to work and live in four different Lux Countries, build many international partnerships and friendships and further develop his professional skills.
