The Adelaide Law School Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Program Duration: 4 years (undergraduate entry); 3 years (graduate entry). The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) is the Australian equivalent of the Canadian JD The Adelaide Law School Bachelor of Laws is a top tier program designed to prepare you for your future legal career in Canada. There are few disciplines that are more challenging or satisfying than law. Your studies at the Adelaide Law School will be stimulating and ultimately rewarding. The Adelaide Bachelor of Laws provides graduates with a rigorous knowledge of the areas of substantive law necessary to undertake legal practice within a broad liberal education. Students will graduate with a sound understanding of legal concepts, processes and methods. The program consists of a number of law courses which provides students with a thorough grounding in common law principles and legal methodology. In addition, students can choose to study a choice of elective courses. Assessment is through a combination of class participation, written assignments, exams, research essays, oral presentations, and the traditional moot court competitions. During your study you will be provided with a number of opportunities to undertake a work placement either through one of our internship programs or by undertaking Clinical Legal Education. Federation of Law Societies of Canada National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) How do I gain admission to practice law in Canada? Students must obtain accreditation of their degree from the NCA upon returning to Canada. Typically, this will require writing four exams to cover Canadian content not included in the Adelaide LLB. This may be done on return to Canada or in the Adelaide Law School Preparatory course. Preparation Course The Adelaide Law School offers a preparation course on the materials required to write and pass the four NCA exams: > > Principles of Canadian Administrative Law > > Canadian Constitutional Law > > Canadian Criminal Law and Procedure > > Foundations of Canadian Law NCA Exams The Adelaide Law School is an approved NCA Exam Centre. Students who must complete any NCA exams can write them at the Adelaide Law School according to the schedule set each year by the NCA.
