XVI. Representations, Warranties, and Guarantees from General Roofing Systems Canada (GRS). All representations, warranties, and guarantees from General Roofing Systems Canada (GRS) must be in writing and executed by a representative of GRS to be in effect. Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee GRS guarantees all workmanship for the lifetime you own your property. Specifically, this guarantee is to any work General Roofing Systems Canada (GRS) executes to your location. Work other(s) have performed in past or future that compromises our work is not guaranteed as are other components of a roof or exterior system that GRS has not installed. For example; a roof repair may be executed properly to one section of roof by GRS - which is guaranteed, however, if another section of roof fails after GRS technicians have been on site (which was installed originally by another contractor) this is not guaranteed. Manufacturer Warranties manufacturer warranties are warranties by the material manufacturer specific to the material used by General Roofing Systems Canada (GRS) on your property. Manufacturer warranties are not controlled by GRS and as such our clients are required to directly engage manufacturers when warranty claims arise. Manufacturer warranties may be standard or extended warranties. Extended warranties must be registered with the manufacturer post installation and must be listed in writing on GRS quotation and invoicing documentation to be valid. Spot Repairs: Representations, Warranties, and Guarantees As above, GRS guarantees all workmanship for the lifetime you own the property. However, all repairs are considered temporary repairs. Repairs are considered and represented as temporary because all repairs are by their nature temporary. The workmanship of a repair can be executed either properly or not (and when not repaired properly this is guaranteed to be re-repaired by GRS), but even when executed properly a repair is considered temporary as the roof system (or exterior material) or material around the repair is typically in a failed condition. For example, a tar and gravel roof repair done to one section can be a repair done properly but because the roof material or membrane is old the membrane around the repair can continue to deteriorate. As such, GRS guarantees the actual repair to be done correctly but does not guarantee the repair will hold or the areas around the repair will hold for any amount of time because the roof membrane (or exterior material) is in a failed condition if a repair is required to begin with. Also for consideration are roof systems that have a number of failures. GRS technicians cannot assess all failures to a roof at times. As such, I our Technicians repair seventy out of seventy one leaks because they cannot locate the seventy first leak (or failure) or don t know about the seventy first failure this does not negate the fact that seventy out of seventy one leaks were repaired. In such a scenario, GRS would invoice for the first attendance and would again invoice for any future attendance to source and execute repair to all other leaks (unless repairs were quoted as a lump sum contract amount). Alternatively, if the repairs the Technicians performed on the first attendance failed due to improper application, GRS guarantees and warrants that our Technicians would return and repair such at no cost for the duration you own your building.
