Child Sponsorship Program One person can make a difference and together we can bring social change.yes We Can! AFFCAD, Uganda Phone: (+256) 392 859 254 Email: sponsorachild@affcad.org www.affcad.org

Thank You! Dear Sir/Madam Thank you for considering sponsoring a child through Action for Fundamental Change and Development. Because of gracious donors like you, AFFCAD has successfully sent over 250 children to primary and secondary school in the community of Bwaise, Uganda. The opportunity to attend school is a crucial part of ending the cycle of poverty; however many families struggle to afford school fees, supplies and uniforms. These obstacles prevent thousands of children from attending school every day; but with your help a child will be given the opportunity to attend school and build a better foundation for the rest of their life. All of the information to make your charitable decision is available in this brochure. However, if you have specific questions, we welcome your call or email directly to our staff. Thank you, Mugagga Brian Baya Child Welfare Coordinator, AFFCAD

Sponsorship Program Functions Your generosity in the AFFCAD Child Sponsorship Program directly funds the following functions: Education Procurement and Scholarship Through the AFFCAD Child Sponsorship Program, underprivileged children are set up with donated funds to pay for necessary fees to attend primary and secondary school. AFFCAD works closely with reputable government Institutions and a number of private schools in and around Bwaise, including their own Excel Education Centre. This ensures that all Sponsored children receive quality education. Currently AFFCAD has 5 children in the Child Sponsorship Program and 20 children who are attaining primary education in different private primary schools under the Emebet Education project (EEP). Working to Empower, a Canadian Organization, funds this project. Education Essentials Support In addition to school fees, AFFCAD provides necessary essential needs required for school attendance, such as: - School Uniforms - School Books - School Bags and Supplies - Food during school hours Health Support In addition to school fees and essential materials, AFFCAD Sponsorship Program helps support the medical needs of students, especially those under 11 years old. Medication and regular check ups are funded and provided by AFFCAD through support by the sponsorship. The organization is responsible for taking the child to a health centre with quality services and pay all fees. Overall distribution of funds Administration: 10% School Fees: 50% Medical care: 20% School Essentials including meals: 20%

Child sponsorchip program Q&As How does AFFCAD choose whom to sponsor? Most of the AFFCAD team was raised in Bwaise so they know which people need the help. We also work hand in hand with the community leaders who refer most of the beneficiaries to our office. We also do a need assessment on a monthly basis and community mapping to identify families that need help in Bwaise. Does AFFCAD choose the school of the child? For children who are already enrolled in school but are unable to continue due to financial reasons will remain at their school if the standard of education is good. For those who are not yet enrolled in the school, AFFCAD will choose the school of the child with the help of the parent. We do this to ensure that the school is accessible and with a good standard. How long does my sponsorship take? The period of your sponsorship depends on your own commitment. We ask you kindly to sponsor your child until his/her career if possible but the choice is upon you. But if you choose to cancel your sponsorship it is better to inform us in advance. How much do I pay for sponsorship? For only $ 40 per month per child, you can commit to sponsor a child through AFFCAD. This amount is paid to AFFCAD using its payment procedures, as you will see on pg. 5. What happens when my child finished primary/secondary School? AFFCAD will contact you a year before your sponsored child finishes any of the level of education. If you choose to continue with your child to the next level, you will have to contact us but with knowledge of an extra pay for each level. How will I contact my sponsored child? You are welcome to visit and write to your child. AFFCAD strongly encourages sponsors to actively write and communicate with their sponsored child. You can create a special relationship with your child through regular communication and ensure that children stay focused and motivated. Sending letters directly to AFFCAD that will ensures that the children receive their letters in a timely manner. Please send letter to the address found on the page below.
