Gifted & Talented Art and Design School 4 th 7 th April 2016 APPLICATION FORM This Art and Design School is for Year 10 Gifted and Talented Art and Design students. Please return all applications to the Gifted & Talented Coordinator at your school: by Friday 29 th January 2016
Dear Student, Thank you for your interest in the Gifted and Talented Art and Design School held at De Montfort University. This Gifted and Talented School is free of charge and is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn about Art and Design in a university environment. Participants will be able to enhance their creativity and explore new Art and Design techniques, with the chance to use our fantastic facilities and work alongside our top academics and students. Places on the Gifted and Talented School are limited and each year we receive many more applications than we have places for. It is therefore vital that you fill out this application form very carefully and include as much information as possible in order to stand the best chance of being offered a place. In order to apply for the Art and Design School, you must meet the following criteria: Currently studying for an art or design-related GCSE (or equivalent) Predicted an A or A* (or equivalent) in either of the subjects mentioned above Regularly draw, paint or design in your free time Have a commitment to learning and developing new art and design skills If you meet these criteria and would like to apply, you should fill out the following application form. The most important part of the form is the Statement of Interest section. This is your opportunity to clearly demonstrate to us your passion and enthusiasm for art and design and tell us more about your experiences. Think carefully about what to write here and try to use all the space provided as the more detail you can give us, the more chance we have of assessing your suitability for a place. We recommend that you seek assistance from your tutors, art and design teachers and family members to ensure that you submit the best possible application. In addition, we would also like you to submit examples of your art work. Further details of how to do this are explained later on in the application form. This truly is a worthwhile experience and one that will be of great benefit to you in your future studies. We wish you every success with your application and thank you for taking the time to apply. Kind regards, Jessica Bogic Square Mile Projects and Outreach Officer Gifted & Talented Lead
