444 Appleyard Drive Tallahassee, Florida 32304 (850) 201-6200 www.tcc.fl.edu Transfer Student Orientation Information Dear New TCC Transfer Student, Welcome to TCC for the Summer 2015 semester! We are excited that you have made TCC your college of choice! Please note that all new, degree-seeking students to TCC are required to attend a Transfer Student Orientation session. Beginning April 20, if you follow the instructions enclosed, you will be able to reserve your orientation session. As a reminder, orientation is a required step of the admission process. Before attending your new student orientation, please note the following: 1. VALID PHOTO IDENTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR ADMITTANCE TO PROGRAM: Photo identification is required for new student orientation attendees. Please bring your photo I.D. to check-in. Without your photo I.D., you will unable to attend your scheduled new student orientation session. Examples of valid photo I.D. include: military I.D. card, high school or college I.D. card, driver license, or a state-issued I.D. card. 2. OFFICIAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPTS/GED SCORES: Please have an official copy of your high school transcript (with graduation date posted) or official, sealed GED scores sent to the Admissions and Enrollment Services office. TCC requests that you have your high school transcripts/ged scores sent electronically or via U.S. mail from the institution(s) directly to TCC. 3. OFFICIAL COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPTS: Make sure that all college transcripts (showing completed college course work) have been submitted to the TCC Admissions and Enrollment Services Office. This also includes AP (Advanced Placement), IB (International Baccalaureate) transcripts. TCC requests that you have these transcripts sent electronically or via U.S. mail from the institution(s) directly to TCC. Transcripts issued to students will not be accepted. Additionally, we recommend that students bring unofficial copies of their college transcripts to orientation. Unofficial copies will be used for advising purposes only. The earlier you send your official transcripts, the sooner we can complete your admission file. 4. TESTING (IF APPLICABLE): If your college/university transcripts do not reflect that you have successfully completed a college-level English course and college-level Math course, you will be required to have valid placement test scores on record. ACT, SAT, FPERT or Accuplacer CPT scores may be used for placement purposes provided the test was taken within the last two years. If you are using ACT, SAT or Accuplacer CPT scores, make sure the scores are forwarded to the TCC Testing Center prior to your attend your new student orientation session. You should also plan to bring a copy of your test scores to orientation. To view information on test

scores and placement, please visit the TCC Testing Center website: www.tcc.fl.edu/testingcenter. If you need to take the placement test, we recommend that you review the study guide and practice test located in the placement test resources area on our Testing Center web page at www.tcc.fl.edu/testingcenter. 5. Developmental Education: due to recent changes in state legislation (section 1008.30, Florida Statutes) that went into effect January 2014, you may be exempt from placement testing and taking developmental education courses. For more information, visit the TCC website at www.tcc.fl.edu, click on Current Students, then click on Student Success & Retention and view Developmental Education Exemption Statement. Remember to MAKE YOUR ORIENTATION SESSION RESERVATION! TCC Passport will open for registration beginning April 20 so you will be able to register for your preferred session. Information about orientation can be found on our website at www.tcc.fl.edu/orientation. Students should arrive before the program begins and are required to attend the entire program. Orientation check-in begins 30 minutes prior to the start time of each program. Photo identification is required for session check-in. If you need accommodation for the TCC Orientation Program, please contact the TCC Disability Support Services (DSS) Office at (850) 201-8430 or email dss@tcc.fl.edu. Be sure to make your request for accommodation at least seven days prior to your scheduled orientation program. If you have any questions concerning our orientation program or completing your admission file, contact Admissions and Enrollment Services at (850) 201-8555 or email enrollment@tcc.fl.edu. We look forward to seeing you on campus soon! Sincerely, Michael Coleman Director Campus and Civic Engagement Enclosures

Do you have the technology skills needed to succeed in college? Are you interested in learning more about how you learn? What makes you tick? What are your strengths? What are the challenges you may face when completing assignments? The Learning Readiness Indicator is an assessment meant to be an interesting experience by which you may learn more about yourself. It will take you just a few minutes from start to finish but you may log out and complete it later if necessary. After you login, you will receive an email from SmarterMeasure with a PIN number that will allow you to log back in later or view your results again. Your score will not prevent you from registering for classes. It is a tool that will help you assess your strengths and opportunities for growth related to learning and digital readiness in seven areas. 1. Technical Competency 2. Technical Knowledge 3. Typing Speed and Accuracy 4. Reading Rate and Recall 5. Life Factors things going on in your life, how much time do you have to study, etc. 6. Individual Attributes procrastination, time management, willingness to ask for help, academic attributes 7. Learning Styles what is your predominant learning style? You will receive a full color report immediately following the completion of all areas of the Learning Readiness Indicator. We highly recommend that you read through your results and try at least one Resource for Support listed for each section of the report. You may choose to email this report, print it, or download and save for future reference. To log in click here (http://tcc.smartermeasure.com ) Username: Digital Focus Summer 2015 Password: tccstudent
