TITLE : Subject:- Political Science (Paper No. 7 to 11) Optional under the Faculty of Arts. 2. YEAR OF IMPLEMENTATION :- Revised Syllabus will be implemented from June 2015 onwards. 3. OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE:- The papers have following objectives: Paper No.VII : Modern Government This paper is an introduction to organs of government machinery and Representation. Paper No. VIII : Public Administration This Paper is an introductory course in Public Administration.The essence of Public Administration lies in its effectiveness in translating the governing philosophy into programmes, policies and community living. Paper No. IX: International Politics This paper deals with the concepts and dimension of International Politics; main theories of International Politics. It also deals with the working of international and regional organizations and the new world order that emerged after the end of cold war. Paper No.X: Constitution of United States of America This paper studies the constitutions of Constitution of United States of America. The historical background of the constitution is to be emphasized to gain an understanding of its evolution. The constitutional and legal provisions, the ideological basis, the institutional arrangement and their social and economic background are to be explained, analysed and evaluated critically. Paper No. XI Classical Western Political Thought This paper studies the western classical tradition from Plato to Montesquieu. The legacy of the thinkers is explained with the view to establish the continuity and change within the western Political tradition. It helps students to study historical aspects of western state and society. 4. DURATION: The course shall be a full time course. The duration of course shall be three years. 5. PATTERN:- Pattern of examination will be Semester. 6. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:- As per eligibility criteria prescribed for each course and the merit list in the qualifying examination. 2

OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE:- The papers have following objectives: Paper No.XII :Modern Political Concepts This paper gives ideas about modern concepts such as Feminism, Multiculturalism, Environmentalism and Civil Society etc. which are important in political science. This will provide comprehensive idea of contemporary scenario in political science. Paper No. XIII : Administrative Thinkers This Paper gives emphasize on administrative thinkers as Henri Fayol, Max Weber, R. Likert, F.W. Riggs in Public Administration. This will provide knowledge about theories advocated by them. Paper No. XIV : Foreign Policy of India This paper mainly focusses on Foreign Policy of India with U.S.A., Russia and neighboring countries. This also studies Pre and Post-Cold War relations among them.it will bring attention of the students towards the current national and international political situation and foreign policy. Paper No.XV : Constitution of China and Sweden This paper studies the constitutions of China and Sweden. The historical background is to be emphasized to gain an understanding of its evolution. The comparative perspective enables the student to understand the differences and similarities between the various constitutional arrangements. Furthermore the political Institutions are to be studied in light of the political process to gain an understanding of the dynamics of actual politics and policy making. Paper No. XVI Modern Western Political Thought This paper studies the modern Western views from Hegel, Karl Marx, N.Lenin and Gramsci. It explores contemporaryemerging various aspects of western state and society. 4 DURATION: The course shall be a full time course. The duration of course shall be three years. 5.
