1. Project Aim and Duration Project Aim: Establish internationally accepted accreditation criteria at pilot faculties of major public and private universities in Syria with the help of European universities and accreditation bodies. Project duration: 15 th of January 2010 to 14 th of January 2013 5/22/2010 4
2. Outcomes (1) Pre university assessment in terms of entry qualifications. (2) Self evaluation evaluation documentationofselectedof study programs. (3) Descriptors of national educational standards adapted from European and EU member qualification frameworks. (4) Guidelines and pilot models changed from input to outcome orientation for study programs, modular structures and quality assurance. (5) Accreditation candidacy. 22/05/10 5
2. Outcomes 1. Pre-university assessment in terms of entry qualifications What educational programs can produce study success of students with diverse backgrounds and knowledge level 1.1 Evaluate qualification framework of secondary school graduates. 1.2 Prepare a questionaire and test for first year students qualifications. 1.3 Analyse results and define equivalences standards. 1.4 Define first year study requirements. 22/05/10 6

5. Tasks of Coordinator Operationalize project implementation and achieve outcomes as presented in the application plan. Tasks: Set up a project coordination and management unit. Set up a mechanism for project monitoring and quality control. Prepare work packages. Establish Networking between Syrian Partners. Prepare budget lines for each partner. Set up project website. 5. Tasks of Syrian Partner Universities Define starting positions, work force and approach. Tasks: Set up work teams and work schedule. Select pilot faculties. 5. Role of Ministry of Higher Education, Syria Integrate National Qualification Framework and NARS into the accreditation process of study programs. Tasks: Indicate the reference level of qualifications for Bachelor, Master and PhD programs. Define National Qualification Framework and National AcademicReference Standards (NARS). 5. Work ApproachwithEuropeanPartners Elaborate network strategy with EU partners. Tasks: Provide Syrian partners with the experiences during a program accreditation process from the point of view getting the study program accredited.
