Spanish Civilization Life and Culture course Spanish 127 Spanish Civilization Spanish Civilization provides an interdisciplinary global understanding of the culture and history of Spain. The course critically analyzes contemporary Spanish society by examining the social and historical traditions and institutions that shape the Spanish way of life in the 20 th century. Required for all students. Field trips and activities may include: visit to a bullfighting school, Spanish cooking class, flamenco dance class, visits to local monuments and museums.

Program Fee = $6795 Fully furnished shared student apartment with equipped kitchen, washing machine, wireless enabled, within walking distance to school Medical and fee refund insurance Access to wifi and computer access at school Full-time student services advisors & support services Weekly social and cultural activities Local field trips and walking tours One night in Madrid upon arrival (hotel, breakfast) Full day guided excursions to Madrid and Segovia/Avila Pre-departure & on-site Orientation programs

Housing Accommodation in a self-catering student apartment is included in the program fee. All rooms are doubles. (A single room in the apartment would be an additional fee.) No meals are included but every apartment has a full kitchen. Homestays provide an opportunity to live with Spanish host or family including 3 meals M-F, breakfast only on weekends, and weekly laundry service. The supplemental fee is $1100 in a double room or $1625 for a single room. Both housing options have wifi access.

Optional Tour to Morocco $465 Travel by private, deluxe, air-conditioned motor coach to Algeciras with ferry crossing to Ceuta. Two nights hotel accommodation in Tetuan Guided visits to the medina bazaar of Tetuan, the historic center of Tangier and the village of Chef- Chaouen. Three meals per day AIFS tour manager and professional local guides in all three cities

Expenses Not Included in the Program Fee Round trip Airfare with airport pickup and return for $695 plus est. $648 (airline taxes, fees, fuel surcharges)* California Community College enrollment fees (if you re not BOGG eligible) $250 refundable damage deposit Text books Passport Personal expenses and personal travel *Students have the option of purchasing their own airfare to and from Madrid. Hotel and group transfer to Salamanca included for all students who make the meeting point and time in the Madrid airport on arrival day.

APPLYING TO STUDY IN SPAIN 1. Attend a Study Abroad Information Meeting on your campus OR speak with your Study Abroad Program Coordinator if you are unable to attend. 2. Complete the AIFS Online Enrollment Form: https://secure.aifsabroad.com/partnership/application/welcome.aspx?c pi=qgnyha16vao8 When completing the online AIFS online enrollment form you will select: Housing preference Group flight option Morocco tour option Make the first payment of $450

APPLYING TO STUDY IN SPAIN 3. Submit unofficial transcripts (electronically or physically) to your home campus Study Abroad Program Coordinator by November 20 (please submit transcripts as early as possible) to gain academic approval. Upon completion of the application and the $450 payment reserves your space in the program but enrollment will be contingent upon the academic approval of your Study Abroad Program Coordinator.

APPLYING TO STUDY IN SPAIN 4. Students deemed academically ineligible will receive a full refund of their application fee up to the November 20 th application deadline. Students who have made the initial $450 payment and have gained academic approval from the Study Abroad Program Coordinator will have successfully completed their enrollment.

IF YOU NEED TO WITHDRAW Withdrawals must be made in writing to AIFS in care of Patty Cardenas, pcardenas@aifs.com The AGREEMENT AND RELEASE document on the online Enrollment Form lists the AIFS Refund Policy for students who withdraw for personal reasons and students who withdraw for medical reasons covered by the medical insurance policy included in the program. Withdrawal fees do apply - PLEASE READ THE AGREEMENT AND RELEASE DOCUMENT BEFORE SIGNING IT.
