School Assessed Tasks: Each task will cover 2 Units of Competency: *Create 2D digital animations *Prepare video assets *Write content for a range of media *Explore and apply the creative design process to 2D forms *Author interactive sequences *Create visual design components (download units from http://training.gov.au) 3 SATs comprise 66% of your study score. Exam is worth 34%. Make sure you understand the assessment criteria for each SAC

Task will include Review Questions to demonstrate your understanding of underpinning knowledge

School Assessed Tasks (cont) In VET IDM there are many possible types and combinations of assessment tasks That s why VET IDM Top Designs has such a variety of digital exhibits! Use your SACs to extend your design, writing and software skills. Develop your folio of design work very useful for job interviews or tertiary entrance for some courses.

Works selected for Top Designs feature: *Originality and creativity *Interesting drawing style *Sense of purpose *Strong characterisation *Good Audio (where appropriate)

Works selected for Top Designs feature: *Clear Target Audience *NO possibility of Copyright issues *Interactivity even if very basic but do not have to do scripting! *Some narrative a story to tell *Not necessarily lengthy or complicated

Judge s advice: *Copyright issues any questionable material cannot be displayed *Limited drawing *Poor Framing / boring shot types *Timing too slow/too quick *Poor transitions

Copyright laws are extremely important and knowledge of these underpins all Units of Study

Judges advice: *Poor quality on-screen *Formulaic/Clichéd approaches *Spelling errors Spelling and expression are really important! *Technical issues especially cross platform compatibility and broken links NO Internet access when judging/exhibiting

Judges advice: *Content must be appropriate eg privacy issues *Poor layout - sizing, appearance and positioning of content on web pages *Broken links (plan for NO internet access) *Font problems *Lack of instructions

Visual Diaries: Although not part of the initial application, they are used in final judging

Visual Diaries: *should demonstrate design process and creative thinking skills. *include things such as initial design brief, details of client meetings, planning, research, objects you have found, notes, photocopies, brainstorming, rough sketching, drafts, evaluations, client feedback *SHOW development of your ideas and why final design was chosen

Show Design Process: *Clarify Brief inc. technical and creative requirements *Research and Generate ideas *Evaluate and Select approach *Produce *Evaluate and Review

Design Process (see the yr 11 Elective unit: Follow a Design Process) training.gov.au

Make sure you take a good look at all the visual diaries and folios on display they are excellent examples and hopefully inspire you!

Thank you for coming best of luck with your work this year. Consider entering your A and A+ work in Top Designs 2015.
