2 nd WORLD WAR II AEGEAN SEA VOLUNTEERS RACE 19 20 SEPTEMBER 2012. NOTIFICATION OF RACE 1. ORGANIZING AUTHORITY. 1.1 Nautical Club of Leros, Nautical Club of Samos, Nautical Club of Karlovasi with the support of the Municipality of Leros, Educational and Cultural Association of Leros Artemis, Hellenic Sailing Federation and Hellenic Offshore Racing Club are organizing the 2 nd Sailing Race in Honor World War II Aegean Sea Volunteers, from Wednesday September 19 to Thursday September 20 2012 for ORC Club and Open Class boats. The Race is included in the annual racing schedule of Hellenic Sailing Federation and is under the auspices of the South Aegean Sea Region. 1.2 HONORING COMMITTEE. In Marathokampos and Lipsi, during the Race, the Secretariat will remain open in hrs and places that will be announce to the participates on time. 4.RULES. 4.1 The Event will be governed by the following rules and regulations in force in September 2012: *I.S.A.F. Racing Rules of Sailing 2009 2012 *ORC Rating Systems Rule 2012 ORC International & ORC Club. *ISAF Offshore Special Regulations 2012 2013. The Race is classified in category 3.

Board as amended in November 1981 replace RRC Part 2 Rights of Way Rules. * 2012 Prescriptions of the Hellenic Sailing Federation /H.O.C. * SRS Rating Systems Rule. *This Notice of Race. * The Sailing Instructions * Where there is a conflict between languages, the Greek text of all documents shall prevail. 5. EVENT SPONSOR. The Organizing Authority may require all participating boats to display a sponsor s decal to both sides of the bow at whole race, at sea and land according to ISAF Advertising Code, Regulation 20.4.1 6. ADVERTIZING. 6.1 ISAF Advertising Code 2012 will apply. Therefore boats bearing individual advertisement during the race must comply to the above mentioned Rule and with their National Authority Regulations. 6.2 ISAF Advertising Code will take effect from Monday, September 17 th 08:00 hrs up to Sunday September 23 rd 2012 24:0 hrs. 6.3 Boats bearing advertisements must carry the relative permission from their National Authority. This permission must be submitted attached to the Race Entry Form. 7. BOAT ELIGIBILITY. 7.1 Boats with valid Rating Certificate 2012 ORC Club and Open Class boats, ( boats with non Rating Certificate ) with L.O.A. equal to or greater than 7.00 m. are eligible to enter the event.

7.2 The Organizing Authority in order to facilitate the participation of boats from abroad, with no rating certificate, offers direct and free issue of OPEN CLASS rating. (S.R.S. system. This rating is not contestable). 7.3 The ORC Club boats must fulfill the following criteria to enter the event: 7.3.1. Boats with GPH>=700 with no limits. 7.3.2. Boats with GPH<700, having sails from polyester material. 7.4 Each boat can participate only in one category. 7.5 Any ORC Club category Greek boat must include in her crew at least two sailors with HYF sailor ID card, one of them must be the skipper or the person in charge. 8. ENTRIES AND ENTRY FEE. 8.1 Entry forms must be submitted to the Race Secretariat not later than Tuesday September 18 th 2012 18:00 hrs. 8.2 Entries must be submitted on the enclosed official En try Form. 8.3 Entries must be accompanied by: A. A copy of current valid Rating Certificate 2012 as required by the National Authority.( only for ORC Club category boats) B. A copy of boat insurance. C. Crew list. D. A signed disclaimer of liability. 8.4 Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Organizing Authority. 8.5 Entry fee is 50 euro for each boat. 9. PROGRAMME SOCIAL EVENTS SCHEDULE OF RACE.

9.1 The event will consist of two offshore races for all boats.9.2 Tuesday September 18 th 2012. 19:00. Skipper s meeting in Marathokampos. 20:00. Opening ceremony and welcome party. 9.2 Wednesday September 19 th 2012. 1 st race: Offshore race. Start Course: Distance: 10:00 from Marathokampos. Marathokambos Lipsi. 28 nm approx. Thursday September 20 th 2012. 2 nd race: Offshore race. Start: Course: Distance: 10:00 from Lipsi. Lipsi Lakki Leros. 15 nm approx. Sunday September 23 rd 2012. 20:00. Prize giving ceremony. Closing ceremony and local festival with Greek music. 10. SUBDIVISION OF CLASSES. 10.1 The ORC Club boats may be divided into classes based in each boat certificate, depending on the number of entries. 10.2 The Open Class boats may be divided into classes based in each boat length, depending on the number of entries. 10.3 In order to create categories the minimum of 5 boats must participate in each category. In order to create a class the minimum of 8 boats must participate in each class.

10.4The Race Committee may merge the classes in accordance the relevant rules. The list of the categories and class division will be available at the skippers meeting. 11. TIME CORRECTION SYSTEM. 11.1Time on Distance Scoring will be applied for ORC Club boats. 11.2 SRS system will be applied for Open Class boats. 12. SCORING. 12.1The Low Point Scoring System of RRS Appendix A 4.1 will apply. 12.2 Details about ties will be announced in the Sailing Instructions. 13. SAILING ISTRACTIONS. Sailing Instruction will be available for each entrant at Skippers Meeting. 14. MEASURMENT CHECKS AND INSPECTIONS. 14.1 Boats shall be made available to the Measurement Committee for random measurement checks and inspections on Monday September 17 th 2012 from 09:00 to 20:00 and Tuesday September 18 th 2012 from 09:00 to 18:00. 14.2 The Race Committee reserves the right of inspecting any boat without prior notice before or after each race. 14.3 Each ORC Club category boat must hold a copy of her Measurement Certificate. 14.4 The person in charge, of an ORC Club boat, must submit to the Committee a signed inventory of the sales existing on board, before the beginning of the inspection. 14.5 ORC Club boats are allowed to use only sails that have been officially measured.

14.6 All persons in charge or boat owners must be aware that according to RRS 78.1, they are responsible that the boat is kept according to the Class rules. 15. CREW LIST. 15.1 The person in charge of each participating boat must submit a crew list with the full names of all persons aboard, Tuesday September 18 th 20120 18:00 hrs. 15.2 Changes in the crew composition ate permitted, provided that the Race Committee is advised in writing, on the specific form available by the Secretariat, not later than one (1) hour before the start of the race. 15.3 For safety and responsibility reasons concerning the person in charge of a boat and the Race Committee the identification of a wrong or inadequate crew list may disqualify the boat in this race. 16. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY. 16.1 Competitors participate in the World War II Aegean Volunteer s Race 2012 Entirely at their own risk. Special Attention is drawn to RRS 4 Decision to Race. 16.2 The Organizing Authority and the committees will not accept any liability for personal or material damage, injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the World War II Aegean Volunteer s Race 2012. 17. TROPHIES AND PRIZES. ORC Club boats. *Prize will be awarded to the 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd overall winners and to the winners of the classes according to the number of entries. * Prize will be awarded to the 1 st winner of the category and the first winner of each class for each race. OPEN CLASS boats.

NAUTICAL CHARTS. The following navigation charts are recommended: Hellenic Navy Hydrographic service 422/2 and 451/1. Imray Tetra G 32. 19. MOORINGS. Mooring will be available in all ports of the race. Mooring for all participating boats is free of charge. 20. BOAT INSURANCE. 20.1 All participating boats shall be covered with a valid third party liability insurance of a minimum coverage as required by the Greek Law N 2743/99. A copy of the insurance policy must be submitted along with the boat s registration form for the event. 20.2 The insurance policy must cover explicitly third party liability when participating in sailing race. 21. RIGHTS OF USE PECTURES AND VIDEO. By participating in World War II Aegean Volunteers Race, all competitors and crew members are automatically grants at no cost to the Organizing Authority and the Sponsor of the Race, the unrestricted right and permission to use, in any way desired, the name and the image for any text, photograph or video footage of either themselves to the boat they are sailing during the race and after.

The use of race material is permitted only under written permission of the Organizing Authority. The Organizing Authority.
