The Club of Abingdon Vesper presents Fundraising is all about having fun while raising money for charity! In the past, teams have raised 2000 each (which is only 100 per person in the team). A sponsorship form for each team is attached. If Gift Aid donations can be made then the Inland Revenue gives an additional 25p for every 1 donated. Collecting sponsorship can be made easier through the online sponsorship site JustGiving. Further information on how to set up a JustGiving page for your team is given separately. One third of the monies raised by a team goes to the Club of Abingdon Vesper s charities and the remaining two-thirds to charities of the team s choice. Prizes for teams To add to the fun, teams are encouraged to come in fancy dress (Pirates, St. Trinian s, Smurfs, Vikings, etc) and a prize is always awarded to the best dressed team! Prizes are also given to all individuals who raise 150 or more each and to all teams whose total team sponsorship is 125 per team member. Charities supported by the Club of Abingdon Vesper The Club of Abingdon Vesper supports a broad range of projects both in the local community and internationally. Community projects include canal Barge trips where the Club hires a specially adapted barge for four weeks every year to give an opportunity for many local groups to have a day out; offering transport support to the Stroke Club; working closely with the Abingdon Bridge, South and Vale Young Carers; and taking groups of disadvantaged local youngsters on a Kids Out Day. International projects cover support for Action for Children in Conflict in Kenya and a micro-credit scheme supporting farming groups in Uganda. Team Parking Parking spaces are limited on the day and the public are charged for parking. Team members are asked to share vehicles and reduce the number of spaces allocated free to teams. How to enter Please complete and return the enclosed application form along with your deposit. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email db2015-teams@abingdondragonboats.org.uk

The Club of Abingdon Vesper presents Collecting Sponsorship is Fun! Here are some suggestions about how to increase the amount of money you can raise through sponsorship and make it easier for everyone as well as have some fun doing it! Remember you are asking people to sponsor you to participate in - you do not have to complete a course, a distance or keep going for a set time. So when someone has agreed to sponsor you, ask if you can have the money there and then which takes out all the hassle of going back to ask for their money after the event. Remember the old Chinese saying a journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step Divide your team into 2 or 3 groups and run a competition between the groups to see which can raise the most money Delegate two or three individuals within the team to encourage, motivate and persuade all the team members to ask for sponsorship. Other members could be responsible for organising your team s fancy dress; transportation on the day etc. Approach your company s customers and suppliers and ask for a 50 team donation. 10 x 50 = 500; 20 x 50 = 1,000. Delegate one or two individuals in the team who are regularly in contact with customers or suppliers Work out how many days there are until 6th September 2015 and aim to get one person each day to sponsor you for taking part. For example, there are 100 days from 29th May 2015 to 6th September 2015 and if you got 2 for each day, you will raise 200. Write out all the days on an A3 grid and ask each person to choose a day at the time of sponsoring you! Ask for a discount when you buy something and say the discount will be used as sponsorship. For example a 10% discount on 10 = 1; a 5% discount on 50 = 2.50. This also works when selling something. Add an extra 1 or 2 and ask if the customer is happy to sponsor you in this way There are lots of ways to raise money cake sales; car washes; dress down days; Easter Egg raffle; bring n share lunches; quiz nights etc. And remember, the Club of Abingdon Vesper is offering the following prizes: A prize to all individuals who personally raise over 150 each A prize to all teams whose total team sponsorship is at least 125 per team member

The Club of Abingdon Vesper presents Sponsorship form TEAM NAME PARTICIPANT Using Gift Aid means that for every pound donated, we get an extra 25 pence from the Inland Revenue - helping your donation to go further. This means that 10 can be turned into 12.50 just so long as donations are made through Gift Aid. Imagine what a difference that could make and it doesn t cost you a thing! So, if you want your donation to go further, please Gift Aid it. We, who have given our names and addresses below and have ticked the box headed Gift Aid? ( ), want the Club of Abingdon Vesper to reclaim tax on the donation detailed below, given on the date shown. We understand that each of us must pay an amount of income tax or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax reclaimed by the Club of Abingdon Vesper on the donation.
