Introduction Bloomsburg University now offers Microsoft Office 2013 Pro Plus to students who are currently enrolled and taking classes. Microsoft Office 2013 Pro Plus offers students access to a myriad of Office products and may be installed on up to five computers. Office Pro Plus offers the following Office applications: Word Excel PowerPoint Access Outlook Publisher OneDrive for Business OneNote InfoPath Skype for Business System Requirements Modern Authentication for Office 2013 must be enabled to be able to successfully activate Office 2013. If you initially connected your device to the BU network after July 30, 2015, Modern Authentication was automatically enabled by the JoinNow client so no further action is necessary. If you initially connected your device to the BU network before July 30, 2015 or have never connected your device to the campus network, you need to first enable Modern Authentication for Office 2013 (advanced registry key info), which can be accomplished by downloading and running this zipped REG file (preferred) or this MSI file. For detailed help enabling modern authentication, please see Appendix A at the end of this document. Installing Microsoft Office 2013 Microsoft Office 2013 Pro Plus is available online to students who are currently enrolled and taking courses at Bloomsburg University. Office 2013 can be downloaded by visiting your BU student e-mail account. To begin, do the following: 1. Login to your e-mail by visiting http://mail.huskies.bloomu.edu and selecting Log on as Student (@huskies.bloomu.edu) See Figure 1 Figure 1: Select Log on as student just as you normally would to access your student e-mail account. 2

2. After clicking Log on as student, you will be prompted to enter your Husky ID just as you normally would. Should you be unable to login, use the Forgot My Password function on the logon window. See Figure 2. Figure 2: When prompted, enter your HuskyID and password in to the SSO portal. 3. Once logged in to your e-mail, select the gear icon as shown in the screenshot below: Figure 3: Select the gear icon! 3

4. Clicking the gear icon will display the setting menu. From the setting menu select: Office 365 Settings. (See figure 4) Figure 4: Select Office 365 Settings from the menu that appears when clicking the gear icon. 5. Once the Office 365 setting page loads, select Software from the options pane at the left. (See Figure 5). Figure 5: Select Software from the left hand menu 4

6. Now you should see something like the screenshot in figure 6. This is where we begin the installation of Microsoft Office. Before starting the download, be sure to confirm the Language is correct. Leave the version set to 32-bit. Click Install. Figure 6: Confirm Installation Options and Click Install 7. Clicking install in most browsers will start a Download of the Office 365 Installer to your computer (you can choose Run instead if you have the option to automatically launch the installer). By default, the installer should be saved to your Downloads folder. Navigate to where the installer was saved and run it. The installer should look something like the one pictured in figure 7. If the windows security warning box comes up after executing the installer, click Run. Figure 7: Office 365 Install File and Security Warning 5

8. Double clicking the installer should launch the Microsoft Office Setup. You should see something like figure 8. Figure 8: Office install launch screen 9. Once setup has loaded, the installation wizard will start. Microsoft Office will now begin installing in the background! This wizard simply shows you some of the new features of office. Click Next to go through the wizard. See figure 9. Figure 9: Installation wizard begins! 6

During this phase, you may click through the wizard to see all the new features Microsoft Office 2013 has to offer. During this period you may see a balloon like the one shown below which will help you keep track of the installation progress. See figure 10. Figure 10: Balloon should appear noting the progress of installation 10. When the following screen comes up, it is recommended that you choose Use recommended settings. If you agree with the software license agreement, click Accept. Figure 11: Customize settings and License Agreement 7

11. Before the installation completes, you will be asked to sign in with your account. This step is required to activate Office through Office365 and also configures Office to have access to your OneDrive cloud storage. Click Sign In. Figure 12: Office Sign-In 12. Enter your full huskies.bloomu.edu email address and click Next. Figure 13: Specify your email address 8

13. You will be forwarded to the HuskyID Single Sign-On page to activate your copy of Microsoft Office 2013 for PC. Enter your HuskyID and password and click Sign On. Figure 14: HuskyID Single Sign-On page IMPORTANT: If you are not forwarded to the HuskyID Single Sign-On page, check the System Requirements section on page 2 of this document. You need to enable Modern Authentication in order to activate Microsoft Office 2013. See figure 15 to see what the incorrect login page looks like. Figure 15: The incorrect log in page. You need to enable modern authentication to activate Microsoft Office 9

14. Once you activate Office, you will see the Meet OneDrive notification. Click Next. Figure 16: Meet OneDrive. Next! 15. When Microsoft Office finishes installing, you will be notified that You re good to go. Click All done! Figure 19: Microsoft Office installation finished. 11

Congratulations! This concludes Office 2013 for PC installation and activation. You do not need to remain connected to the Internet to use Office 2013 for PC, but the PC will need to connect to the Internet at least once every 30 days for Microsoft Office to remain fully functional. If you are offline for more than 30 days, Office 2013 for PC enters reduced functionality mode until the next time a connection can be made to the Office365 Activation and Validation service. At this point you can launch your Microsoft Office applications. You will find the applications in your list of installed applications which you can access with your Start Menu. Manage/Deactivate Installations Each student is currently entitled to 5 installations for personal use. To manage the installations and deactivate an outdated installation to make room for a new installation, follow steps 1-5 from the install guide to get back to the Software section of the Office 365 Settings within your student email account webmail. This page will list your current installs. To remove one, find the one you want to remove and click Deactivate. Then confirm you want to remove it by clicking Yes. This will free up one of the 5 licenses so that you can activate another Microsoft Office install in its place. If you still have office installed on a computer which you deactivate, Office enters reduced functionality mode. If it was a mistake, simply log back in to Office to reactivate it. Please note that deactivating a license will not uninstall Office from the computer, but rather just un-license it. Figure 20: Deactivate license 12

What happens after I leave Bloomsburg? After you leave Bloomsburg University, you may no longer use Microsoft Office free of charge. Your installed Microsoft Office products will automatically be converted to trials. If you wish to retain Microsoft Office, you may purchase a subscription through Microsoft using a personal email account and then reactivate the product with your personal email account. Even if you opt-in to keep your email account and it gets converted to an alumni.bloomu.edu email account, you should not try to purchase a personal office365 license for your alumni.bloomu.edu office365 account as this will likely not work. Uninstalling Microsoft Office 2013 Should you decide to uninstall Microsoft Office 2013, you can do so by accessing the Windows Control Panel and selecting Programs and Features. Once in Programs and Features, locate Microsoft Office and double click on it. This will start the uninstall process. Microsoft Office for your Mobile Device is also available Please be aware that in addition to installing Microsoft Office software to PC and Mac computers, there are also versions available for ios and Android. You can download the applications from the Android Play Store or the Apple App Store. Please note that if you attempt to connect to your OneDrive from the OneDrive app and it asks which type of OneDrive you have, your huskies account OneDrive is considered OneDrive for Business. For additional information regarding Office365 offerings for mobile devices as well as direct links to the apps available, follow steps 1-4 from the install guide to get back to the Software section of the Office 365 Settings within your student email account webmail. Next, click on the Phone & Tablet tab on the left side and then choose your mobile device platform. Figure 21: Phone & Tablet Microsoft Office 2016 for PC Coming Soon! Microsoft Office 2016 for PC is expected to be available through Office 365 in February 2016. If you see it available in your Office365 software portal, feel free to install it. Office 2016 comes with modern authentication enabled by default, so there is no special activation workaround. As soon as practical, we will update the PC walk-through documentation on our web site from Office 2013 to Office 2016. 13

Appendix A: Enabling Modern Authentication for Office 2013 Modern Authentication for Office 2013 must be enabled to be able to successfully activate Office 2013. 1. Click the following link: http://www.bloomu.edu/downloads/technology/office365/office2013- Enable-HuskyID-SSO-Authentication.zip 2. Depending on which browser you are using, it may ask you to Run/Open or Download/Save the file. If you are able to, choose Run/Open to immediately launch the file and skip ahead to step 4. Otherwise, if it only allows you to save it, just be sure you either know where it downloaded to or how to access Downloads directly in your web browser. The following example is IE11. 3. Launch the downloaded file (Office2013-Enable-HuskyID-SSO-Authentication.zip) by double clicking it. By default, the file would be saved in your Downloads folder. 14

4. Now the zip file is open and it is showing the reg file. Double click the Office2013-Enable- HuskyID-SSO-Authentication.reg file to launch it. 5. You may be asked if you are sure you want to run the file. Click Run. If User Account Control comes up asking if you want to allow the program to make changes to the computer, click Yes. 15

6. Next Windows will ask if you want to modify the registry with the reg file. Click Yes. 7. Finally you will see that the registry changes were successfully added. Click OK. You are now ready to install and activate Microsoft Office 2013. If for some reason custom security settings or third party software on your computer do not allow you to download or run the zipped REG file, there is a second method you may try. You can try to download and run the MSI file located at: http://www.bloomu.edu/downloads/technology/office365/office2013- Enable-HuskyID-SSO-Authentication.msi This custom program enables modern authentication for Office 2013 in the form of a software installer in which you should just have to launch the installer file (Office2013-Enable-HuskyID-SSO- Authentication.msi), click Next, and then click Finish. Although this package will show up under Programs and Features, this package should not be uninstalled in the future unless you completely remove Office 2013. The REG file documented first is the preferred way to enable modern authentication for Office 2013 since it does not involve installing a software package to your PC. 16
