Oil & Gas Services B ibby HydroMap works closely with clients from the oil and gas industry to provide a variety of services relevant to all construction and monitoring phases. Our flexiblity and range of expertise combined with the diversity of our fleet allows us to provide a tailored, cost-effective service.
Proven expertise and total reliability to support globally recognised oil and gas clients
Excellence on the most environmentally challenging of sites Bibby HydroMap provide survey, inspection and sampling services applicable throughout the entire project life cycle, specialising in the provision of high resolution multibeam echo sounder and side scan sonar surveys, shallow geophysics and UHR seismics. Bibby HydroMap are committed to working to the highest QHSE standards, demonstrated through our ISO9001, OHSAS18001 and ISO14001 accredited management systems. The company has more than 15 years of experience within the challenging UK coastal environment and is ideally placed to service Southern and Central North Sea sites. Our 27.5m semi-swath catamarans Bibby Athena and Bibby Tethra were designed specifically to provide a stable survey platform in such conditions and provide a cost-effective alternative to larger, offshore vessels, whilst retaining superior survey capability. The diversity in our fleet, combined with access to charter vessels, allows us to offer a true inshore to offshore package. These real-world savings have already proved a success for a number of Southern North Sea operators in the drive to reduce operating costs, extend the life-cycle without compromising quality and safety standards. The vessels are mobilised with the latest in high specification multi-beam echo sounders and side scan sonars from our main suppliers in this area: Teledyne RESON, Klein, Kongsberg and Edgetech. These sensors are invaluable in providing the information required for site investigations, clearance surveys and to assess the current condition of subsea assets. Innovative applications of these standard survey techniques enable us to provide high resolution 3D asset visualisation and information within the water column to detect potential leakage. Bibby HydroMap have a successful track record in providing AUV surveys, maximizing productivity on site. The size and maneuverability of our vessels allows us to conduct survey operations close to installations, offering a detailed, accurate view of the structure.

We provide integrated survey, inspection and sampling services to support the project throughout the entire life-cycle Single and multichannel seismic surveying and interpretation is another core capability, detailing the geological characteristics of the site from the top 2m to hundreds of metres below seabed and identifying hazards such as shallow gas. Magnetometers are used to position ferrous metals including UXO and to provide information on the geological characteristics of the site. The aim is to provide the client or end-user with a comprehensive, accurate understanding of the site s subsurface features, providing reliable information for confident decision making. Bibby HydroMap also have considerable experience in geotechnical sampling to inform engineering decision-making. Vibrocore and CPT positions are informed by in-situ geophysical interpretation, with samples sent to suitably accredited laboratories for testing and analysis before being integrated with the geophysical results into the final report. The company works closely with environmental consultants to provide benthic sampling and analysis, inspection and habitat mapping services. Our bespoke freshwater lens drop down camera system developed in partnership with independent environmental consultants CMACS Ltd was designed specifically for low visibility waters, offering improved image quality in comparison to conventional systems. We offer intrusive sampling in the form of trawling, Day and Hamon grab sampling, with samples sent to appropriately accredited laboratories for faunal analysis. Many of our personnel are trained Marine Mammal Observers (MMO) and we offer Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM). Pipeline survey and inspection is offered using our newly launched survey platform d ROP, designed for superior performance in dynamic coastal environments in comparison to observation and small work-class ROVs. Other ROV services offered include visual inspection and Cathodic Protection survey. Following acquisition, data is processed and reported by our specialist surveyors and geophysicists, who use the latest processing and visualization packages from CodaOctopus, QPS, GoldenSoftware, Trimble, GeoSoft, AutoCAD and ARC GIS. Bibby HydroMap also operate in-house GIS and data management services when required, and regularly work to PRISM and IBIS standards. We employ specialist processing geophysicists using SeisSpace ProMAX and IHS Kingdom software packages for multichannel UHR seismic interpretation.
