2 > Toulouse Destinati Ideally situated in the heart of Southern France, between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean, the cosmopolitan and enthusiastic Ville Rose joyously mixes heritage and lifestyle, great cultural events and festival pleasures. Toulouse is an absolute must for everyone wanting to explore France. At once both modern and proud of the legacy of its past, open and radiant, you are bound to be seduced by the incomparable Toulousain lifestyle, coupled with the wealth of its cultural heritage. Your stay in Toulouse will certainly be a time of great pleasure.

> Toulouse 3 tion Toulouse Having fun In Toulouse, any excuse will do for a celebration: good food, local wines and amber-coloured Armagnac, rugby games, the warmth of the long summer evenings, the pleasure of being together, and great cultural events. Everyone will find depending on how you are inclined, in every season and on every day of the week a way of exploring this audacious and vivacious city. When the city becomes a museum, from art of the antiquity to modern art, from Romanesque art treasures to impressionist masterpieces, from Ancient Egypt to the stars, Toulouse is home to some vital collections. The museums themselves are housed in buildings that are heritage jewels, or in astonishing converted industrial buildings. As you go from one museum to the next, you'll discover the charms of the Ville Rose for yourself. Proud of its heritage, the city has recently invented a 'plan lumière' which reveals a hitherto unknown Toulouse. A thousand architectural details spring to life under the clever lighting. Facades and streets, river and monuments awaken to nocturnal life. The city becomes the magical backdrop to your evenings.

4 > Toulouse Lifestyle capital Between the calm of a riverside walk and the delights of gourmet pleasures, a lifestyle is blossoming in Toulouse, under the Occitan sun. Pink like its brick, blue like the woad that made its fortune, purple like its emblematic violet, Toulouse offers all the pleasures of good living and relaxation in glorious Technicolor. Watery influences Toulouse is the daughter of the Garonne. A city that is in love with its river, Toulouse has chosen to protect the quays and surrounding areas. It is one of the few great cities to offer them to pedestrians rather than cars. Make the most of the pleasures of the riverside - for evening strolls or lazing around in the sun, in the very heart of the city. For jogging or cycling, the sportiest people prefer the long sandy alleys in the shade of the plane trees on the banks of the canal du Midi. This masterpiece of the 17th century, a Unesco-classified World Heritage Site, offers Toulouse its navigable waters before escaping to the Atlantic or the Mediterranean. City of Gardens From the great gardens created in the 18 th century to the new museum gardens, Toulouse has never ceased to enrich its green heritage. In the Jardin Royal, where Simon de Montfort died in the Cathar epoch, on the Raymond VI promenade, or in the amazing Jardin Japonais, a thousand and one strolls await you.

> Toulouse 5 A pleasure for each season La culture is always in vogue. The cradle of Bel canto and Carlos Gardel, Toulouse moves to the rhythm of music. The National Orchestra, great musicians, operas, theatres, dance and exhibitions take place throughout the year. City life is also lived in time with the many festivals that take place: le Printemps de Septembre, les Siestes Electroniques, Piano aux Jacobins, Toulouse les Orgues, Rio loco!, le Marathon des mots, Cinespaña, etc. Each of these events is a great international encounter and a privileged moment for discovering or rediscovering the city. Toulouse, Ville Rose The first-time visitor to Toulouse is struck by the city's colour. Over the years, it was built almost exclusively using tiles and wide Roman brick known as 'foraine' in the Toulousain Midi. This ancient tradition still persists today. It is now ten years since it was restored to its former glory, conferring the warm characte - ristic colours of the most gentle of pinks and the most flamboyant of oranges, which light the city up throughout the day, and earn it the name of the Ville Rose.

6 > Toulouse Toulouse at play For the glory of sport and the pleasure of being together, to share a single passion and take advantage of the charms of the South, Toulouse is 'en fête' all year round. Asouthern city in which the terraces flower with the first rays of sunlight, where the young and not-so-young rub shoulders in the multiple restaurants and cafés of the city centre from nightfall Toulouse, where every day is a celebration. Toulouse with a taste of Spain Cosmopolitan and full of students, Toulouse is as lively by night as by day. Nearby Spain has passed on its taste for long festive evenings. Great encounters, concerts, and festivals or simply a desire to enjoy, any excuse will do to get together and have fun with all the city's night-time pleasures. When rugby makes the city rejoice Impossible to speak of Toulouse without mentioning the city's emblematic sport, which pulses with life on the evenings of a big match. It's rugby, of course. The Toulouse Stadium sets the whole city alight with every victory of the glorious team, many times champion of France and of Europe. Toulouse, land of Rugby Rugby is Toulouse s flagship sport, and was first played here on the banks of the Garonne. Today, the glorious Stade Toulousain team the red and blacks, has won more titles than any other team in France, with sixteen Boucliers de Brennus (national championship) and three titles as Champions of Europe. The city goes into festive mood for each match, as it did for the 4 outstanding games played here in the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

> Toulouse 7 Place to Place There are not one but a thousand places to get together for a party in Toulouse. A Toulousain speciality is walking from one 'place' to another and finding Saint George and its immense terraces, Saint Pierre, where students and rugby men meet up, Wilson and its many restaurants, la Trinité and its cafés every 'place' delivers up its soul. The pleasures of the table Toulouse is a city of gourmets. Every gustative pleasure is available to you. Don't miss the chance to taste cassoulet, Toulouse sausage, foie gras and other typical foods of the South-West. You will also enjoy accompanying your meals with the best of the region's wines (Gaillac, Fronton, Madiran, Cahors, etc.) and to end every good meal with an Armagnac the elixir of d Artagnan. Discover the best regional products on the multicoloured stalls of the local producers and large indoor markets.
