DAY 7: THE PALLADIAN VILLAS OF THE VENETO The Brenta River and its Palladio Villas Situated along the Brenta River between Padova (Padua) and Venice, are many beautiful country mansions known as Ville Palladio. Built by the architect, Andrea Palladio (1508 80), these classic structures were commissioned by wealthy Venetian families during the 14th century and onwards. The tour includes: Villa Pisani, Villa Seriman and Villa Foscari more commonly known as La Malcontenta, The Discontented. Also along the Brenta river, are interesting examples of hydraulic engineering of the 19th century which include the navigli and sluices of Leonardo s drawings. You will board the "BURCHIELLO" and navigate to Villa Widmann for a guided tour of the Villa. The river cruise continues navigating to Dolo where you will have free time for lunch and relaxation. Travel back to the hotel by private bus. DAY 8: MURANO Board a private boat to the island of Murano, for a visit to the glass factory that produces traditional and artisan works. DAY 9: TRANSFER TO MILAN Transfer via private motor coach from Venice to Milan. Walking tour through examples highlights of gothic and medieval architecture: Il Duomo, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II,Teatro La Scala, Santa Maria delle Grazie, the location of Leonardo s mural painting, the Last Supper, in the refectory of its Convent, Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, Castello Sforzesco. DAY 10: EXPO MILAN 2015 Expo 2015 is the next scheduled Universal Exposition, and will be hosted by Milan, between May 1, and October 31, 2015. The event marks Milan s second time as its host, the first being the Milan International of 1906. Expo 2015 will explore the theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life" and will host over 130 participants. It tackles the great problem of sustainable progress, and shows elements of innovation in technology and science connected to the field of food, in order to contrast feed problems that still today plague several areas of the world.
