There are different views in the market as to what unlimited means when it comes to broadband. Our unlimited broadband means we don t place a cap on the amount of bandwidth a customer can consume. Meanwhile, the nature of our infrastructure is such that we manage bandwidth capacity at each of our network points carefully on a regular basis to ensure we continue to deliver the level of service that we re renowned for. Customers use their Internet connections to access different traffic types - interactive services such as web browsing, video streaming, VoIP and hosted application access; and non-interactive bulk services such as news groups and peer-to-peer. We operate a dynamic traffic management policy based on prioritising traffic by its type and adjusting the speed of delivery of that traffic. Being dynamic means it is only applied when absolutely necessary to protect the service being delivered to customers. Key points to note about our traffic management are: Each traffic type is given a level of priority If congestion occurs the bandwidth available for each traffic type is determined by its level of priority We do not block any traffic types or ports Prioritisation is executed dynamically in line with bandwidth availability We do not cap the potential speed of any traffic type
