PaCIM Passenger and customer information management PaCIM is a platform for customer information and is provided for local and long distance public transport systems. Due to its modular structure, the system can be easily modified to your requirements. Our PaCIM (Passenger and Customer Information Management) platform is based on the information system that is used by Deutsche Bahn. PaCIM provides passengers, at all linked stations, with up-to-date information about departure and arrival times, train connections and about possible deviations from the schedule. This information is made available by way of displays and audio systems. With PaCIM, the operator of a passenger information system is provided with maximum support for his daily work, has an overview about the current situation at all times and can enter changes directly into the system. PaCIM is based on the annual transport schedule, which is downloaded by traffic planners or via external systems to PaCIM. The daily timetable is generated by the system on the basis of this information, which is automatically updated via available interfaces. All information sources are possible in this regard, including train tracking, external distribution lists, IRIS SMTP, the various VDV interfaces and a variety of other sources. The operator can supplement or correct this information. All data from the various sources is linked on the basis of stored priorities. Changes in operations are recognised on the basis of all available data, and information is made available at the traffic stop or track via corresponding information systems. 6 PaCIM

SYSTEM OVERVIEW PaCIM System overview PaCIM is based on state-of-the-art technologies in the hardware and software area. Depending on your requirements, configurations from a single server up to and including high-availability clusters are supported. Windows Server 2008 is used as the operating system. This establishes a homogenous integration into existing networks and Active Directory structures. PostgreSQL is deployed as the primary database system. DFI System PaCIM has a modular structure. On the basis of this modular structure and the underlying relational databases, expansions or customer-specific supplements are possible without any major impact on the remainder of the system. This assures an easier integration of terminal equipment into the software system, independent of the transport stop. 9

Display technologies AEG MIS offers you a full range of liquid crystal display technologies to enable the most appropriate display type to be chosen for each application. Transmissive LCD displays: With transmissive display technology, the rear light source passes through those display segments which have been selected to produce the desired character shapes. This technology can be used at indoor locations, where there are low levels of ambient light. Bistable Displays Transflective displays In the case of transflective display technology, a partially transmissive reflector is positioned behind the LCD screen, so that ambient light or direct sunlight is reflected. This technology is primarily used at outdoor locations. Bistable display technology (Green Systems) Bistable display technology does not use any energy to maintain the display of information, a few Watts is required only whilst the information on the display is being updated. Bistable LCDs are reflective display systems, in which the segments become visible through a reflection of the incident light. Backlighting is not required and the information is optimally readable under all lighting conditions. This technology is ideally suited for standalone applications in outdoor areas, and in connection with solar energy facilities. Geameleon units are full-colour, high-resolution and large-surface displays which use the bistable technology. This technology has been optimised for indoor and outdoor applications. TFT TFT flat screens are used in indoor areas, or in outdoor applications that are not exposed to direct sunlight. Full-colour and high-resolution display of information and graphics is possible with these screens. Geameleon 12 High resolution TFT displays in special shapes and aspect ratios. Available for those special applications where standard sizes are not suitable.

Airport Around the world, our information systems guide millions of passengers through airports each day, informing them about their departure and arrival times. As the manufacturer of large-size display panels in the arrival and departure halls of airports, our mission is to present travellers with quickly recognisable information through our passenger guidance systems. Depending on requirements, the customer has the possibility of selecting from a variety of LCD layouts for designing his individual display panel. We recommend segment fonts for the presentation of text and time information. Dot-matrix fonts are especially suitable for the presentation of high-resolution text, such as for instance Asian and Arabic fonts or for the presentation of graphics. Our passenger guidance systems inform millions of people every day about departure and arrival times, while safely guiding them through airports. 14
AIRPORT 15
Railway As the market leader for passenger information systems provided to Deutsche Bahn, we have already installed our display panels and systems in more than 400 railway and transport stations. In 2003 and 2008, our innovative solutions in the area of passenger information were honoured with the title Supplier of the year by Deutsche Bahn, the Federal German railway. These display systems are used to guide passengers, indicating departure and arrival platforms, displaying timetables, or making announcements about local and long-distance transport. Among our reference projects are the complete S-Bahn (suburban train) networks of Munich, Stuttgart and Frankfurt. Throughout the world, our systems are deployed each and every day at train stations in Switzerland, Hungary, Austria, England, the Ukraine, Belgium and the USA. Our display systems are used to guide passengers, indicating departure and arrival platforms, displaying timetables, or making announcements about local and long-distance transport. 16

LOCAL PUBLIC TRANSPORT In the area of a local public transport, we offer solutions both for stationary and mobile segments. Local public transport As in the railway sector, we also inform passengers about the precise departure times at bus, suburban railway, metro and tram stations, using our state-of-the-art passenger information systems. Especially in rural areas, we have specialised in providing stand-alone solutions for local public transport, using GPRS control systems and providing power using solar panels. We are very strong as a component and module supplier in the mobile sector, serving the global market for the display of passenger information. Jointly with system and bus suppliers, we develop and produce large quantities of LCD modules and complete systems. 19
Besides our passenger information systems, we also offer solutions in the area of traffic guidance and communications, including solutions for the commercial, industrial and avionics sector. Traffic control systems The rising traffic volume in inner cities, and the rising CO 2 emissions that are a consequence, are forcing cities and municipalities to take measures. Our dynamic traffic control systems are currently capable of reacting within seconds and can guide traffic, making the life of drivers, administrative departments and the police a lot easier, while also directly benefiting the involved residents. We develop systems in co-operation with renowned local and foreign partners, which are designed to provide parking, traffic and road guidance systems in cities, and at event locations, trade fairs, stadiums, airports etc. 20
TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEMS COMMUNICATIONS, TRADE, INDUSTRY AVIONICS Communications, Trade, Industry We are active as a major supplier of components to the industrial, trade and service sectors. Based on dot-matrix, segment and proportional fonts, we design individual solutions in co-operation with the producers of sports, general information and industrial displays. In the area of multimedia and communications, we realise largesurface, monochrome and video-enabled display systems, as well as full-colour advertising panels for indoor and outdoor areas. Avionics As a specialist in the avionics and speciality display market segment, we develop and produce special displays in small and large quantities. These displays are, for instance, used in the automotive sector, and in helicopters, aeroplanes, cranes and other special applications. 21
Green Systems Protection of the environment is an important part of our company s philosophy and extends from development through the manufacturing processes, all the way to our energy-efficient end-products. This can above all be seen in our Green Systems, a newly developed generation of display systems that require no energy to maintain the display of information. These systems are based on a bistable display technology, which only requires power for a short time, during the input of new information. We have developed an innovative display with our Green Systems, that identifies itself with our environmental philosophy and the user: Environmentally friendly Providing energy and CO 2 savings Long operating life Low energy costs Almost entirely maintenance-free Suitable for solar panel operations (= cable-free) Green Syste 22
GREEN SYSTEMS In comparison to other technologies, LCD display technology is very energy-efficient, capable of being used in sunlight and is highly flexible for the presentation of information. We also think of the environment with our tried and tested systems. Integrated and intelligent energy management is included in the newest generation of our display systems, making a contribution to high environmental friendliness and a reduction in operating costs. ms LCD display technologies are very energy-efficient, suitable for use in sunlight, have a long operating life and are nearly maintenance-free. 23
