On buses, the driver is usually the only operator on board and has the responsibility not only for being on time, but also the responsiblility for the safety and security of the passengers. This means that the security systems and passenger information systems have to be easy to use and optimized for operations while the bus is on the move. 4 End-to-end solution components Communication & Control Our communication & control is based on open system architecture with standard IP/Ethernet interfaces and dynamic IP addressing. The communication backbone inside the vehicle provides high bandwidth, while at the same time it provides online communication between the vehicle and the wayside system. Examples include passenger information, diagnostics and position information. The automated configurations and software updates can be done efficiently, thanks to Adaptive Network Routing and Dynamic Domain Name Service (DNS). Open IP-based system architecture with standardized interfaces allows easy connection of the system with other systems, such as diagnostic, passengercounting and ticketing systems. The system is also future proof and can be easily expanded. Passenger Information system Our IP-based, modular passenger announcement system is flexible for a variety of environments. It allows scheduling of automated announcements and/or conductor messages which can be transmitted to the passengers at any time. If the system is provided with audio/video entertainment/ infotainment systems, announcements can be configured to override any entertainment system which might be active. Our system allows flexible and fast configuration of any type of announcements. Display systems Our display offering consists of a full range of displays including front, side and internal displays supporting all available technologies from LED to TFT and LCD technologies. Our display systems are IP-based and offer a variety of features and benefits such as excellent visibility, servicefree and vandal-proof design, low life-cycle costs and easy maintenance. The user interfaces are made simple and intuitive, which makes them end-user-friendly. The layouts and fonts are easy to modify due to the open XML-based control interface. We make tailored display solutions based on our end-customer needs and preferences. Video surveillance and security systems Our on board video surveillance system (CCTV) is modular and uses an environmentally-hardened IP network video recording solution specifically designed for trains, metros, trams and buses. The on-board Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) cameras can be located conveniently to cover all passenger areas, including all exit and access doors. Typical cameras are based on 360-degree viewing angle lenses and are supported by high-definition image sensors. Our mobile Network Video Recorder (mnvr) allows remote connection by any user accessible via the on-board video management system (VMS) or through the VMS system installed on the wayside. By remote connection, different functions can be provided to access the recorded data or live camera feeds, including video search per criteria (GPS position/vehicle ID/ NVR ID/ alarm tags/etc.). Emergency phones can be integrated as part of the video surveillance system and they can also be directly connected to the wayside OCC. Wireless offload We offer various different wireless technologies for the offload of the mnvr, which are based on existing proven solutions already in operation with mass transportation users. Entertainment/Infotainment systems We can offer different options to provide IP-based entertainment wirelessly or through a cable network. Our stateof-the-art TFT, LCD and LED displays enable the enjoyment of video entertainment with superb quality. The digital headphone panels also allow easy selection of MP3, CD or video audio channels. The system can easily be controlled via a touch-screen user interface. Passenger counting and other integrated sub-systems Teleste s open and scalable platform allows the integration of any other subsystems efficiently and in a cost-optimized way. For example, passenger counting is a crucial part of our end-to-end solution and we provide it as a separate module or integrated together with our video surveillance and security system.
