Scientific Information 53 rd Annual Meeting of the ITALIAN CME CREDITS Italian Ministry of Health CME (Continuing Medical Education) accreditation will be applied. ABSTRACT SUBMISSION The organizers invite authors to submit abstracts to be considered and included in the programme. Abstracts written in English can only be submitted online through the website www.adriacongrex. it/sic2011 and must not exceed 2500 characters including blanks. Abstracts must focus on the following topics: Autophagy, apoptosis, necrosis and senescence Cancer genetic Cancer modeling and imaging Cancer stem cells Cell adhesion, migration, invasion and metastasis Cell metabolism and cell cycle regulation Control of gene expression and epigenetics DNA damage and molecular responses to damage Drug resistance Infectious agents and cancer DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION IS JUNE 20, 2011 Innovative therapeutic approaches Molecular epidemiology and chemoprevention Molecular markers of diagnosis, prognosis and response to therapy Nanotechnology Signal transduction and intracellular trafficking System biology and emerging technologies Tumor immunology and immunotherapy Tumor microenvironment: inflammation, hypoxia and angiogenesis Changes to abstracts can only be accepted until the deadline (June 20, 2011) using your Personal Page on the official Meeting website. The Scientific Committee will select the abstracts received into: accepted as a oral presentation accepted as a poster presentation (70w x 100h cm) Notification of acceptance for presentation or rejection, together with information about session, date and time of discussion, will be sent by the organizing secretariat by e-mail. Each author can be entitled to be presenting author of only 1 abstract. Please note: for each accepted abstract, the registration fee of at least one of the Authors will be required. Back to the Future AUDIOVISUAL INSTRUCTIONS A Multimedia Slide Centre is located in the Meeting Venue. ONLY PC DATA PROJECTION IS AVAILABLE DURING THE MEETING. Each room is provided with a laptop. Therefore the use of your personal laptop is not allowed. Should speakers have their personal laptop or CD Rom or USB key, they are kindly requested to go to the Multimedia Slide Centre to have their presentation copied. The presentation will be then forwarded through a LAN network from the Multimedia Slide Centre directly to the computer in the presentation room. We kindly recommend speakers to contact the Multimedia Slide Centre the day before their presentation. If this is not possible, please deliver your PowerPoint presentation 1 hour before the session on CD-ROM or USB Key. PRIZES Piero Trivella and EACR Prizes to the best posters The Associazione Oncologica Pisana Prof. Piero Trivella and the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) will award the best posters. To apply for poster prizes it is necessary to: Be SIC Member Be first author of the submitted abstract (copy of the abstract must be attached) Be regularly registered in the Meeting Be younger than 35 years at the date of the Meeting (copy of the identity card must be attached) Those who wish to apply for the prize must present their poster at the Meeting even in case their abstract has been selected as oral presentation. Should the winner not be present at the Award Ceremony, the prize will be awarded following the ranking order. The application must be sent by June 20, 2011. Travel Grants A limited number of Travel Grants can be awarded upon financial availability. To apply for Travel Grants it is necessary to: Be SIC Member Be first author of the submitted abstract (copy of the abstract must be attached) Be regularly registered in the Meeting Be younger than 35 years at the date of the Meeting (copy of the identity card must be attached) The application must be sent by June 20, 2011. Elena Cappannini Prize to the best 2010 publication as first author in innovative approaches for cancer treatments To apply for this prize in memory of Elena Cappannini it is necessary to: Be first author of the publication in the field of preclinical or clinical innovative approaches for cancer treatment published in 2010 (copy of the paper and CV must be attached) Be younger than 40 years at the date of the Meeting (copy of the identity card must be attached) The application must be sent by June 20, 2011. All applications are available on the SIC website and on the official Meeting website and must be sent to the Secretariat SIC via e-mail: sic@istitutotumori.mi.it All prizes will be awarded, on the basis of a merit ranking, on Friday 21 October, during the Award Ceremony. 11

Practical Information Back to the Future HOW TO REACH THE MEETING VENUE The Torino Incontra Conference Centre is located in the city centre. Please find here below some useful information. From Caselle international airport By car: the airport is 16 kilometres from Turin city centre, approximately 30 minutes by car. By train: for the convenience of airport users, a railway station has been built in the immediate vicinity of the terminal. The railway service is operated by GTT. By bus: the SADEM bus service links the airport with Turin city centre in around 40 minutes. By taxi: the taxi rank can be found to the left of the Arrival lounge exit. The journey to Turin town centre takes around 30 minutes. From Porta Nuova railway station After going out from the station, turn right to Corso Vittorio Emanuele and walk until the crossing with Via san Francesco da Paola. Turn left and walk until Piazza Valdo Fusi, on your left you will find the Torino Incontra Conference Centre. It will take 10 minutes. From Porta Susa railway station After going out from the station take Via Cernaia and walk until Piazza Solferino. Go on to Via Santa Teresa until Piazza San Carlo. Go on to Via Maria Vittoria until the crossing with Via Francesco da Paola. Turn right and walk until Piazza Valdo Fusi, on your right you will find the Torino Incontra Conference Centre. It will take 30 minutes. 15
