1. TEKA Soft Loc Installation Guide Thank you for having chosen TEKA Parquet. To guarantee a constant quality product TEKA engineered hardwood flooring is made out of selected wood species and runs only on best European machinery. You have made the right choice with having chosen TEKA! We spare no efforts to ensure that our products are free from manufacturing defects. Following strict production procedures, we meticulously inspect each individual floor board to make sure that every piece belongs to the right product grade and is without failure. The beauty and uniqueness of wood is characterized by distinctive variations in grain and colour and therefore no flaw. However imperfections may occur on a natural material like wood. Therefore accepted industry standards allow a defect tolerance, be it a manufacturing or a natural one like grading variations, of maximum 5%. Inspection of all floor boards shall be done before installation. Products with an unacceptable grading, colour finish or manufacturing quality shall not be installed and be immediately reported to the seller. To receive a uniform appearance on the complete floor, it is important to work out of several cartons during the installation of the flooring boards. TEKA recommends to retain and to store a few boards in case of damage or replacement of a single board. A. Responsibility of the floor owner / installer Grade, colour, finish and manufacturing quality of the installed flooring remain the sole responsibility of the owner and installer, even if the owner is absent at the time of installation. Once installed in place, any floor board is considered as having been accepted by the installer and owner. Prior to installation, the installer must make sure that the sub-floor preparations and pre- installation inspections are carried out satisfactory and that all applicable standards and recommendations of the construction and material are meeting the expectations. TEKA as a manufacturer declines any responsibility for job failures resulting from or associated with the sub-surface or job site deficiencies. It is the duty of the person installing the floor to judge which boards to install and which not. Floor bards showing visible defects or imperfections must be trimmed and installed in hidden places or don hot have to be used at all. Use of stain, filler or putty stick during installation shall be accepted as normal procedure. Pieces of doubt as to grading, finish or manufacturing quality shall not be installed at all if not possible to trim them or use them in hidden places. Please calculate with around 5% more square meters than needed because you will have material loss due to cutting and sorting. 1

If any installed floor board must be replaced later on, TEKA s liability shall be solely limited to the replacement of defect products i.e. materials but only in excess of the 5% industry accepted norm, excluding trimming waste allowance. In any case TEKA shall not be hold liable for installer s lack of judgment, quality of installation, labour and installation costs. B. Installation guide 1. Recommended tools, material and accessories Broom or vacuum cleaner 7mm wall spacers Wood and / or concrete moisture meter Tape measure Level Carpenter square Hand saw Electrical saw with carbide blade Pull bar Tapping block Approved safety goggles or glasses shall be worn at all times! 2. Pre- Installation Check List Pre-finished hardwood flooring installation shall be the very last step of any construction or renovation project. Air conditioning and heating systems shall be in place and operation. A constant room temperature of 24 C (75 F) and a relative humidity of 40% to 60% RH shall be maintained in the installation site for 14 days prior, during installation, and until occupied to allow for proper acclimation. Keep the floor boards in its original unopened package for at least 48 hours in room temperature. The package shall only be opened just before the start of the installation. Engineered hardwood flooring may be installed below, on or above ground level. Do not install in bathrooms. For below ground installation, make sure that the foundations and concrete slabs are thoroughly leak proof. To avoid moisture related damage, check the sub floor for moisture content using appropriate testing methods. 2

3. Sub Floor Preparations Before delivery, make sure that the building where the floorings would be installed are completed, including all moisture or water related works such as masonry, plastering, wall painting, plumbing, gutters etc. All openings should also already be completed (roof; windows; doors). As a rule-of-thumb, ready-made wood flooring should be one of the last items delivered and installed in the building. Any concrete sub-floor must be completely cured and dried (8~12 weeks old), with minimum surface temperature of 15º C (60º F) and maximum moisture-content of 2% dry-weight basis. The ideal relative humidity in the room should be 55%. A moisture test is required using either the Calcium Chloride method or an acceptable moisture meter. 4. TEKA Soft Loc Installation Guide for Floating Installation 1. After cleaning the sub floor, roll over the vapour barrier sheet with a minimum 20cm (8inch) overlap. Unroll the sheet along the longest wall. 2. Underlayment may be used for sound insulation and / or for smoothing out slight irregularities of the sub floor. Do not overlap the underlayment. 3. Lay a loose board upside down as a proper height guide against the door jamb. Cut the bottom of the frame off, leaving the required expansion gap allowance. 4. Boards shall run lengthwise against the longest wall. When possible try to run floor boards parallel to incoming sunlight or main light source. T-mould is required for rooms exceeding 100m² (1.080sq ft). 3

5. Begin installation from the left hand corner, tongue-side against the wall. Use spacers to maintain an even expansion gap allowance. 6. Align the next board, lay it down and push downward until the short edge s plastic tongue clicks into locking position. Proceed with the subsequent boards in similar manner to complete the installed first row. 7. The figure shows the short edge plastic tongues latch locking mechanism. 8. For aesthetical reasons, on starting the next row, always make sure to stagger the end joints by at least 30cm (12inch). Try to use cut piece from the previous row to start a new one. 9. Connect the long edges tongue with the groove at some 15 angle and lay it down. 10. Connect the long edges tongue with the groove at some 15 angle, push to slide the board along the joint towards the previous board. Align and lay it down, until the short edges plastic tongue clicks into the locking position. Proceed with the subsequent boards in a similar manner to complete the row. 4

11. All joints shall have a tight fit. When necessary use a tapping block and hammer to gently tap any gapped joints. Never hit the floor board directly with a hammer or mallet. 12. When necessary use a pull bar and hammer to tap gapped joints at adjoining walls and door jambs. 13. To lay the last row, place a full length floor board directly on top of the last installed row. Measure and cut the correct width by putting a full width scrap board with spacers inserted against the wall. 14. Trimming the boards width will unable the use of the plastic tongue at the boards short edge. Remove the plastic tongue; apply a continuous line of bead of adhesive along the lower lip. Immediately wipe off any excessive adhesive with damp cloth. Hold down the board with some weights while the adhesive cures. 15. In the case that the installed board needs to be removed, either because of poor colour blending or because of any other reason, start at the most right sided board of the row and insert the special separating tool into the groove. 16. Lift up the right side board and remove it. Carry on to the targeted board to be removed from the row. 5

17. On encountering pipes, measure the position and diameter of the pipe; drill hole(s) with a diameter of 10mm (3/8) bigger than measured. Cut off as shown in the figure and install the board in place. 18. Make sure to remove all spacers once the laying procedure is completed. Skirting boards or mouldings shall be fastened to the adjacent wall with nails or screws overlapping the expansion gap allowance. Important: Please remember that floor boards in floating installation are not meant to be fastened in any manner. Never partially fasten the installed floor, either by glue or by nail. Obstruction to the floor s natural movement may cause severe damage and void the warranty. TEKA Soft Loc boards were carefully manufactured with accuracy and precision. However, inherent to lock joint installation some squeaking or crackling of the floor boards may later on occur. Such is not a manufacturing defect and therefore is not covered under TEKA s warranty. B. Attention! This guide is a general instruction for TEKA Soft Loc product range, best suited for internal relative humidity between 40% to 60 RH all year round. Please consult TEKA s authorized seller or retailer for the right method for your mew floor installation in areas where humidity is extremely low. For installation on under-floor heating system, follow strictly the heating system supplier instructions. TEKA s flooring can be installed over maximum 28 C floor surface temperature. Beech, Maple and Kempas expand and contract more than other wood species, giving greater risk of gaps to appear in floor. TEKA does not recommend choosing these species for installation on under-floor heating system. 6

Caution: Wood Dust Attention! Sawing, sanding and machining wood products produce wood dust. Airborne wood dust can cause respiratory, eye and skin irritation. Precautions Equip power tools with dust collector. Use appropriate NIOSH designated dust mask in high dust level environment. Avoid dust contact with eyes and skin. First Aid Measures In case of irritation, flush eyes or skin with fresh water for at least 15 minutes. 7
