Quarter Round Quarter Round is most commonly applied to cover the expansion gap between the flooring and the wall. End Cap (Square Edge) End Cap (often times called Square Edge or Threshold) is most commonly used when butting up to carpet or a sliding glass door. T-Mold T-Mold is used when joining two floors of equal height, such as in a doorway between two rooms or in a large area where the maximum length/width is exceeded. Stair Nose Stair Nose is used when ending flooring at the top of either a landing or downward staircase. Reducer Reducer is used when ending the flooring onto a surface such as concrete. 3 Revised 2/27/2015 WARRANTY GRAND MESA PLUSLaminate 27 YEAR RESIDENTIAL WARRANTY & 5 YEAR LIGHT COMMERCIAL WARRANTY Manufacturer 27 year Limited Warranty. The manufacturer warrants to the original end consumer of laminate flooring panels for 27 years from the date of the purchase, that: The surface of the panels will not wear through The panels will not fade from sunlight or normal artificial lighting The panels will resist stains The panel joints will remain secure after installation The panels are free from manufacturing defects This limited warranty is made subject to the following conditions: Laminate flooring installation instructions, and must be used for indoor areas according to their utility rating. This limited warranty does not cover negligence, improper installation or maintenance, insufficient protection, improper alterations to the original materials, insects, severe accidents, and exposure to extreme heat, burns, fire, natural disasters such as hurricanes. The surface wear is readily visible, i.e. a minimum of one square inch, and is not the result of sand or other abrasive materials. The surface wear or damage is not the result of abuse, improper care and maintenance, sliding furniture or heavy objects across the floor without proper protection, sever impact, scratching, cutting, or chemical damage. This limited warranty specifically excludes water damage from standing water, urine or other corrosive liquids, excessive subsurface penetration or moisture emissions from concrete, leaking pipes or faucets, leaking appliances such as but not limited to washing machines, dishwashers, and refrigerators, hydro-static pressure, flooding, natural disaster, such as hurricanes. Laminate flooring panels installed with any manufacturing defect are not covered by this limited warranty. Any such defective material will be replaced at no additional cost to the customer. Any damage that occurs during shipping is the responsibility of the shipping company. Any claim under this limited warranty shall be made by contacting your retailer within thirty (30) days after the defect is detected. Proof of purchase with the date of purchase must be presented with the claim. This limited warranty covers the repair or replacement, at the manufacturer option, of the affected laminate flooring panels. If repair is not commercially practicable, or if the design or model line that is claimed for is no longer available, the manufacturer will replace the affected materials with another design or model line of equal value. This limited warranty is not transferable, and extends only the original end consumer. The above constitutes the customer sole and exclusive remedy for claims under this limited warranty. This limited warranty constitutes the entire agreement between the parties. LIFETIME STRUCTURAL WARRANTY: The manufacturer offers a Lifetime Structural Warranty for residential use on this laminate flooring. This warranty covers all manufacturer s laminate flooring properly installed in approved product applications as recommended by the manufacturer. The manufacturer warrants this laminate flooring, in its original manufactured state to be defect-free with regard to lamination, assembly, and milling. Page 1

5 Revised 3/6/2015 GRAND MESA PLUS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Laminate PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU BEGIN INSTALLATION. IMPROPER INSTALLATION WILL VOID WARRANTY. ALWAYS WORK FROM A MINIMUM OF 3 CARTONS BEFORE YOU GET STARTED Keep the boards at room temperature for at least 72 hours in unopened package before you start the installation. The room temperature must be at least a minimum of 65 F before and during installation. An expansion gap (T-mold) must be inserted for any floor surfaces exceeding 23 in width and 35 in length. Leave an expansion gap to separate areas in rooms that are off square (for example L-, F-, T-, U- shapes). Always leave expansion gaps in door openings. Inspect your subfloor before you begin. It must be clean, dry and level to 3/16 per a 10 foot span. It is recommended to repair any loose boards or squeaks before you begin installation. With a floating floor you must always ensure you leave a 3/8 gap between walls and fixtures such as pipes, pillars, stairs, etc. *Tip: When installing around pipes, drill the holes 3/4 larger than the diameter of the pipes. Choose an underlayment material. Silencer Supreme or Eco-Silencer Ultimate Underlayment is recommended. Relative humidity levels of your room should be maintained at 35-65% RH and a temperature of 65 to 75 F. Decide on your installation direction. It is recommended to install the length direction of the planks parallel to the main light direction. Measure the area to be installed. The board width of the last row shall not be less than 2. If so, adjust the width of the first row to be installed. When measuring, take the free gap requirement of about 1/4 of the floor perimeter into account. In narrow hallways, install the floor parallel to the length. Page 1 Inspect your laminate flooring. No claims relating to surface defects will be accepted after installation. Do Not install planks over: Any floor exposed to excessively hot or cold temperature. Any floor exposed to excessive moisture. Radiant heated floors. Particle boards. SUBFLOORS WITH RADIANT HEAT IMPORTANT: Due to the speed of sudden temperature changes, which has the potential to negatively affect laminate flooring construction, it is not recommended to install over any electrical radiant heating system. Installation over electrical radiant heating systems will not be covered by the manufacturer s warranty. Below are instructions for radiant heating systems using water. Ensure the radiant heat surface temperature never exceeds 85 F. Before installing over newly constructed radiant heat systems, operate the system at maximum capacity to force any residual moisture from the cementitious topping of the radiant heat system. Then set the thermostat to a comfortable room temperature for the installation. It is recommended that the radiant heat be applied in a gradual manner after installing the laminate flooring. Refer to the radiant heat system s manufacturer recommendations for additional guidance. It is up to the owner/installer to confirm the suitability of any radiant-heating system for the intended end-use. The selection and use of any radiant heating system is at the sole discretion and responsibility of the owner/installer. PLANK INSTALLATION Begin by first installing a foam underlay. Run the foam underlay in the same direction as the flooring planks. The underlay should be butted side-by-side with no overlap.

6 Tape seams together. If you are installing over a concrete subfloor, a 6-mil poly (plastic sheeting) is to be installed under the foam underlay. Remember when installing your laminate floor to leave an open expansion gap of min 1/4 around the perimeter of the room (use wedges), i.e also at pipes, stairs, columns, door frames and thresholds. The floor must be able to move free - do not connect or install tight to any construction part. Install to a maximum of 33 feet of length/width at a time. If the room is larger, allow for an expansion gap which can be covered with the appropriate laminate t-mold. Also, leave an expansion gap to separate areas in rooms that are off square (for example L-, F-, T-, U- shapes). Always leave expansion gaps in door openings. IMPORTANT: For reasons both for visual enjoyment and for structural integrity of the total installation, do not install end joints closer than 15 from the end joints of the previous row (for normal 4 length laminate). First plank, first row. Begin in the LEFT corner of the room with 4 planks. Place the extended groove facing out into the room. The tongue should be pointing toward the starting wall. After 3 rows, you can easily re-position the flooring away from the starting wall for the 1/4 expansion gap. Diagram 1. Second plank, first row. Place this plank tight to the short end of the first one. At a slight angle, insert the tongue of Plank A into the groove of Plank B until the laminate edges meet. Press downward to lock the planks together. There should not be any gaps at the joints if attached correctly. Diagram 2. Fold down with a single action movement. Diagram 3. At the end of the first row, leave an expansion gap of 1/4 to the wall and measure the length of the last plank to fit. Diagram 4. If cutting with a jig saw, the laminate surface should be turned down. If cutting with a hand saw, the laminate surface should be face up. Glue the end joint with tongue and groove wood adhesive to secure row in place. Diagram 5. Second row, first plank minimum length of 1 foot 7-11/16. Leave an expansion gap of 1/4 against the wall. Generally, the minimum distance between short ends of planks in parallel rows shall not be less than 6 inches. Diagram 6. Install the second plank of the second row. Diagram 7. Place the panel tight to the short end of the previous panel and fold down in a single action movement. Diagram 8. After 2-3 rows, re-position the floor to adjust the distance to the front wall to ensure an expansion gap of 1/4. Diagram 9. Page 2 Last row and first row. Minimum width must be at least 2. Remember to leave an expansion gap of 1/4. Glue the end joint with tongue and groove wood adhesive to secure row in place. Diagram 10.

7 MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING Clean the floor regularly with a vacuum cleaner or dry mop. If necessary, the floor may be cleaned with a well wrung cloth and a synthetic detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners. Use furniture leg coasters. Avoid using too much water. Spillages of water should be wiped off immediately. Do not wax. This will make the floor s surface too slippery and may cause accidents. To protect the floor from sand we recommend you to use doormats at entry ways (but do not use mats with a rubber backing).
