Backup of a file / folder is not supported. Microsoft VSS (Volume Shadow copy Service)-Savvy Snapshot Support for hot imaging backup utilizing Microsoft s Volume Shadow Copy Services (VSS). Allows to back up live system without shutting Windows down. Smart Sector Backup Enables fast backup of only used sectors which uses less disk space. Restore Backup Image 7-1 Restore Virtual Machine 3.5 for Hyper-V Seamless Hot Restore (SHR: Boot up and restore live VM from an image) The use of SHR feature enables you to quickly start a VM from an image backup while simultaneously restoring the same VM in background with minimal or nearzero wait time. Restore using ReZoom function (Restore and then boot up a VM) ReZoom technology lets you restore virtual machines selected from a backup image. The VM may be booted up only after restore process completes, however, multiple VM s may be selected to collectively restore at a time. 20

Step 2: [Disk Management] [Connect VHD] Connect VHD file in the mounted drive. Step 3:Copy File Copy the file from the connected drive to a folder in Explorer. 24

8. Tool 8-1 Image Management 3.5 for Hyper-V Consolidation Multiple incremental backup files or baseline image with associated incremental backup files may be consolidated into a single backup file. Incremental backup associated with the consolidated file may be continued to perform. Unification A full (baseline) image file and all associated incremental files may be unified into one file under a unique file name in order to simplify management of backup files. Incremental backup cannot be continued in association with the unified file. 25

Q4:How do you calculate required space in the destination storage to save image files?
