1 Product Overview Initial Seeding After installing POPI Online Backup software on your servers, you can start backing up data to our secure cloud service over the Internet. Copying large amounts of data to the cloud can take some time. To reduce this first initial full replication, we offer a seeding option, where a storage device is sent to you and a local encrypted backup is performed to this device. It is shipped back to the Local Data Centre. Your data is then copied to the POPI Online Backup servers, seeding your initial full backup. Once this process has been accomplished, your servers only have to back up blocks of data that have changed since the initial seed was completed (Incremental Backups). This drastically reduced the time and size of internet connection required.

2 Continuous Data Protection Continuous Data Protection (CDP) monitors the changes made to selected files and folders, and backs them up in real-time. Flexible backup schedules You are able to define flexible backup schedules for protecting your data. It is recommended that at least a daily backup is scheduled. For mission critical servers, multiple backup schedules can be configured according to your requirements. Backup file Type selection Our advanced filtering tool allows you to apply self-defined backup filters for any backup set to include or exclude specific file types. Restore to any computer from anywhere The Cloud Backup plan and restore plan allows you to restore your backed up data through any common web browsers. Thus, you can restore your data anytime and anywhere. Automatic restart If a backup is missed due to network connection interruption, the backup will automatically restart when the connection is re-established. Efficiency Our multi-threading backup and restore technology significantly increases the backup and restoration speed, especially for multi-core CPU servers. 2 threads per CPU's core will be used during backup or restoration. For example, if your machine has a CPU with 4 cores, 8 threads will be created during backup or restoration. Economic The Software is equipped with In-File Delta technology which ensures the original file is only backed up once. Subsequently, only changes backed up. Thus effectively minimizing the backup window. Variable Data Compression Ratios Data compression ratios can be adjusted to optimize the backup performance. Security Your POPI Online Backup account is password protected. Your backup data is encrypted with 256-bit encryption algorithm before being copied to the Local Data Centres. Decryption is only possible with an encrypting key which is determined by the client. The backup and restore of data is done through a highly secure 128-bit encrypted SSL channel.

3 Flexible Retention Policy. You are able to define how long the locally deleted files are retained on POPI Backup. The number of versions of a file can be set to cater for governance and legislative requirements. Multiple versions of a file can be restored. Multiple backup sets Multiple backup sets can be created for protecting different group of data. For example, if you need to back up Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft SQL, you are able to create two dedicated backup sets for these two databases, each with its own backup schedules, backup location and retention policy. Open File Backup With our integration with Microsoft's latest Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) framework, you are able to back up files that are open in Windows without any additional applications or plug-ins. Command Line Tool You are able to run self-defined pre / post backup commands, execute batch files to stop and start an application before and after a backup job.
