control, broken beds, desks, chairs, broken TVs, microwaves, toasters, kettles, missing shower curtains, bedroom curtains, system failures on a local level o priority 4 - - more than 5 days: broken furniture not listed above, malfunctioning soap dispensers, broken or missing towel bars or hooks, window screens, cracked or damaged drywall, common room fridges and stoves, securing hall equipment, fixing ceramic tiles o priority 5 - - aesthetics: painting, extra cleaning duties, carpet cleaning FEST and FCC: liaises between FEST FLIRCs regarding issues that continue to arise o Students fill out work orders first https://residence.mcmaster.ca/default.aspx?params=l9ezxpcqnqvknxs UHaBn65ZMeJ6/b2QcWNX7VeZs04E%3d o Same issues continue to arise o FLIRCs report issues (and propose solutions if possible) o Facilities chair reports issues to FCC meetings However facilities specialists should already know about this because they keep track of work orders o New plans of action for future, renovations, replacements occurring, relayed by facilities chair during FEST meetings Decorating policy: o Postings must be positive in nature, non- racial, non hateful, non- discriminating, non pornographic, non- offensive non- suggestive of proceeding in accordance with the university s anti- discrimination and harassment policies o No commercial advertising, help wanted, apartment for rent used books/articles for sale in or on residence buildings o Volume of decorations on exterior of any door cannot be larger than two white boards o Cannot place stuff on windows, glass indoors, on smoke shelter, anywhere in elevators, over light fixtures, over fire safety equipment, near stoves, on ceilings, heating, ventilation, air conditioners o Posters for events must be approved by RLS or IRC before posting, according to the Decorating Policy 3/ floor: Brandon, Hedden, Woodstock, Whidden, Les Prince 2/floor: bates, Edwards, Keyes, McKay, Moulton, Wally 2/stairwell: Matthews o RLS / IRC members must remove posters within two working days following event o Sticky tags provided at service desks used only o damages within rooms will be charged equally to all occupants Keys: o West quad: Bates, Keyes, Wallingford, Matthews, Moulton Keyes service desk o North quad: Hedden, McKay, Woodstock, Edwards, Les Prince, Brandon, Whidden Commons service desk
o They check your photo ID, therefore you must get the keys yourself o 20 minutes to unlock room, grab keys, return lockout key and access card to service centre o If late past 20 minutes additional charges $25 minimum o If past 24 hours, the lock will be changed, $104 o 1 st = free, 2,3, = $3, 4,5= $5, 6,7= $10, 8,9 = $15, 10 th and on = $20 o report lost keys and security card, lock will be changed o damaged key = $25 o lock = $104 (106?) o access card, mailbox, bike room key $25 note: all charges will be applied to your student account o if you have lost your keys and/or access card, you must report this to the Service Centre immediately new access card, lost card is deactivated, lock will be changed o http://housing.mcmaster.ca/building_services/keys.html FCC meeting once every three weeks o Past issues working on: new system: work orders online numbers to track when your order will be completed o Things that will be addressed at the first FCC meeting: Laundry cards debit or credit card Thumbprint scanner in bates, will be put into all building (keywatchers) Cannot be placed in all buildings at the same time (due to costs) Common use bathrooms (i.e. Matthews showers near door) Study rooms (Moulton and Whidden right now) Lounge room soft couches, Individual cubicles, white boards Heart room: all three in the same room o Current renovations: kitchen sinks and cupboards in bates, windows in Brandon, carpet in some buildings GRIEVANCES: Water pressure Garbage and recycling rooms more specified Hedden, Moulton, Edwards lacking recycling bins Les prince: garbage cans never put back into garbage rooms ENVIRONMENT: No chair for this committee Liaising with MACGreen, McMaster Recycle, University Environment Steering Committee Current tasks: ink cartridge recycling, pop tab recycling o Methods of collection varies depends on FLIRC i.e. door- to- door, designated locations with collection boxes must be checked regularly
decorate so that they are eye- catching, raise awareness work with your hall reps (be creative!) o residence- wide competition: bring everything you have collected to FEST meetings, amount will be recorded at the end of the year, top 3 halls will receive points towards the IRC cup IRC Cup: points earned through building participation in IRC events Cash prize to winning building, can go toward i.e. a new TV for the common room, name of winning building is engraved onto the IRC cup Size of building will be taken into consideration SECURITY: Think of anti- tailgating initiatives Bring security issues to the next meeting TELECOM: Grievances: o Keyes wifi none on the higher floors o Phones in Edwards: phones disconnect when you get called, must pick up right away, disconnect while you re on the phone o Wifi on campus, CNH, TSH, BSB o Matthews: only north tower gets wifi o McKay on second floor further from elevator gets worse no wifi o Hidden most common rooms don t have wifi, only the basement o HSC: no wifi on first floor Riley O brien deals with UTS, first meeting will be next week Initiative: wireless around all residences o Issues: 50% connections at library, student centre Ethernet cables in the rooms o $1000-1200 per hotspot installed funding?
