Mark West - Partner Mark is an internationally experienced senior executive and Non-Executive Director with a strong record of achievement in the acquisition, development, marketing and management of coal mining, energy and infrastructure businesses. Mark is an internationally experienced senior executive and non-executive director who has worked in a broad range of senior roles in the mining, energy and infrastructure industries. His experience includes 20 years with Shell, 7 years with Anglo American and 5 years heading an independent company. He has worked in Australia, Africa, China, UK, Venezuela, Canada as well as in many countries where their products are marketed. His executive roles include GM - Power and International Business Development, GM - Callide Coalfields Joint Venture, Head of Growth & Strategy (Coal), Head of Business Development - Africa (Gas) and as Project Director/Chief Executive of Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (Infrastructure). Mark is a qualified mining engineer and has held a First Class Mine Managers qualification. His experience covers coal, gas, LNG and power businesses and includes operational management, M&A divestments and acquisitions, restructuring, corporate development, improvement initiatives and developing major projects with large multi-disciplinary project teams. Andrew Wells - Partner Andrew has extensive domestic and international experience in the industry working at senior executive levels for major coal producers in areas including operations management, commercial management, business development, asset acquisition, strategy and planning. Andrew has a broad range of experience and skills including technical, operational, commercial and senior management roles both in Australia and overseas. Andrew has advised senior executives and boards on M&A opportunity and execution, asset closure, project development, organisational design and operational and technical issues. Earlier experience in a technical consulting role has equipped Andrew with strong diagnostic and analytical skills together with an appreciation of what is required to get things done. Rob Reeson - Partner Rob is a mining professional with 30 years of experience specialising in exploration, resource assessment, technical services, mine evaluation and development. Rob is an experienced mining professional (20 years with Shell and 10 years with Anglo Coal) whose roles have included participating in and leading coal exploration teams in Australia (Surat, Galilee and Bowen Basins) and South Africa as well as corporate planning both in Australia and overseas and on-site Technical Services management at the Drayton (NSW) and German Creek (Qld) mines. More recently Rob was project manager for the development of the Grasstree Mine in Central Queensland s Bowen Basin and Regional Manager Studies for Anglo Coal. Rob s utilises his unique blend of exploration background, coal quality knowledge, technical and project management experience to lead exploration and studies teams in the essential phases of resource assessment and mine development. Tony Riek - Senior Associate Tony is an engineering professional with over 20 years of experience in manufacturing and mining. Tony provides strategic advice for the implementation of Lean principles and methods in operations and leads study and project teams in the design and evaluation of mining and infrastructure projects. Tony is recognised as one of Australia s leading practitioners of Lean business improvement processes. His Lean journey has been integral to his career in the manufacturing sector where he has specialised in managing the introduction of new facilities and processes for a wide range of organisations. He has held management level positions in a variety of roles (Operations, Strategy, Product Development, Consulting) and in this time worked with some of Australia s most well-known manufacturing companies. Tony also leads mining and infrastructure feasibility study teams for major mining clients and has focused his Lean skills on the resources sector which are ideally suited to the application of the Lean methodologies. Recent work includes brownfield mine expansions and stacker reclaimer projects. Martin Pavelka - Business Analyst Martin is an economist and business analyst and provides economic and quantitative research, analysis and advice to clients predominantly relating to the mining, energy and commodity markets. Martin has been mainly involved in energy projects in the electricity market helping clients to evaluate large energy and infrastructure projects. His work has involved developing short and long term market outlooks under different economic and fiscal settings. Martin has undertaken numerous cost benefit analyses, market analyses, market forecasts and quantitative risk analysis using Monte Carlo simulations within the energy industry. He has in depth knowledge of local and international commodity markets. Martin also has experience in using microeconomic, statistic and financial modelling tools through his involvement in a range of project evaluations particularly in the energy sector.
