This enables AMC to award Statements of Attainment (subject to students holding a Unique Student Identifier Number) within its scope of registration where short courses administered by AMCS have been deemed equivalent to units of competency with the Maritime Training Package. Unique Student Identifier (USI) In April 2012, the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) agreed to the implementation of a specially designed tool called the USI to provide students with the ability to obtain a complete record of their VET enrolments and achievements from a single source. The USI initiative has been developed jointly by the Australian and State and Territory governments in consultation with stakeholders. It is supported through Commonwealth legislation, including the Student Identifiers Bill 2014, the Student Identifiers Act 2014, and through a national information Communication Technology (ICT) system. Students have the option to directly apply for a USI ww.usi.gov.au or the RTO upon receiving approval from the student can apply on their behalf. Only students who have provided or been issued with a USI from 1st January 2015 can be issued a qualification or statement of attainment. If students do not have a USI no qualification or statement can be issued. NOTE: USI applies to VET awards only. A USI is not required for the issue of certificates. 2015 SHORT COURSE PROGRAMME 03
