HICKSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL HICKSVILLE, NEW YORK Guidance Office Directory of Local Scholarships 2015 Through the generosity of the PTA's, school organizations in the Hicksville community, local organizations and individuals, a substantial number of scholarships are available to graduating seniors of Hicksville Senior High School. The purpose of these scholarships is to help deserving students meet the cost of preparing for their futures. Scholarships are not limited to the college bound and neither are they restricted to outstanding scholars. Students who have conscientiously applied themselves and have taken advantage of the high school educational opportunities should carefully review this directory and apply for all financial opportunities to help them achieve the next step toward their college and career goals. This Directory presents a brief description of all local scholarships offered to members of the June, 2015 graduating class of Hicksville High School. They have been numbered for identification purposes. Please note that there are opportunities for all students. Awards are available to students planning to attend college, technical school or trade school. Review the descriptions in the Directory carefully and apply only for those scholarships for which you meet the eligibility requirements. Follow the instructions given to fill out the application forms, which are included at the back of this directory. Carefully answer every question and include all information requested. Detach the application and return it to the Guidance Office. The Directory of Local Scholarships is also available on our school web-site at www.hicksvillepublicschools.org. DEADLINE: FRIDAY, MARCH 6, 2015

1. American Legion Post 421 Charles Wagner Memorial Scholarship*. Amount $500.00. Criteria: Any worthy senior student who is a citizen of the United States, who is the descendant of an honorably discharged war veteran or service person currently on active duty. Scholarship may be applied toward tuition expenses of any post-high school education or training. TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP, STUDENT MUST ATTACH ELIGIBILITY FORM TO APPLICATION. 2. Band Parents Association Scholarship. Amount $500.00 each, a total of two (2) will be awarded. Criteria: This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior attending a two- or four-year college. One scholarship will be awarded to a member of the high school band program (Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band). One scholarship will be awarded to a member of the Marching Band. The student must have participated in the Marching Band anytime, during their high school years. 3. Bethpage Hicksville Lodge #975 F. & A.M. Bernard LaPadula Memorial Scholarship. Amount $1,000.00. Criteria: Applicant must be accepted in an engineering program at a college, university or trade school. GPA 80% or greater. Community involvement a factor. 4. David R. Bouton Life Sciences Award. Amount $500.00. David Bouton had a passion for the life sciences that he shared with the students he taught. His dedication for teaching was exemplified by his uncanny ability to utilize humor while teaching the most complex biological systems, thus encouraging the learning process without compromising the integrity of the student s work. The criterion for this award is as follows: 1. Student should be planning to attend a two- or four-year college with a major in the life sciences, (broadly defined as any sub-discipline in life sciences.) 2. Student should be in the top 20% of their graduating class. 3. Student must write an essay of 250 words describing their interests and educational goals in the life sciences. 4. Student must have a recommendation from a life science teacher. 5. Susan Brill Memorial Scholarship. Amount (2) $1,000.00 each ($500 per semester) Awarded to one boy and one girl. Criteria: For an average student, one who has done their best and has the desire to further his/her education. 6. Burns Avenue School PTA Dorothy Stein Memorial Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: The student must be a graduate of Burns Avenue School and eligible for a Hicksville High School diploma. They must be an average or above average student who is continuing his/her education. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA scholarship at the time of selection. 7. Burns Avenue School PTA Elizabeth Obremski Memorial Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: The student must be a graduate of Burns Avenue School and eligible for a Hicksville High School diploma. They must be an average student who plans to pursue a career in education. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA scholarship at the time of selection.

8. Burns Avenue School PTA Mary Price Special Achievement Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: Student must be a graduate of Burns Avenue School and eligible for a Hicksville High School diploma. They must be a student who has overcome personal and/or physical adversity and can explain how they have overcome this adversity. He/she must show an interest in learning and must want to continue his/her education either through college entry or vocational training. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA scholarship at the time of selection. 9. The Colaio Pedicini Memorial Foundation - Mark Colaio Scholarship. Amount $4,000 payable $1,000 at the beginning of each school year for the four years of undergraduate education. Criteria: An average student, with a grade point average not higher than 90%. Must display an interest in sports and/or arts. Must have very good interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and try new things. Must have self-confidence and belief in his/her ability to do anything that he/she puts his/her mind to. This grant should be given to a student who is more "emotionally intelligent" than "book smart. Student must be recommended by a teacher. The student must submit an activity sheet, an essay about why he/she is deserving of this scholarship and a teacher recommendation letter. Only COMPLETE applications will be accepted. 10. The Colaio Pedicini Memorial Foundation Stephen Colaio Scholarship. Amount $4,000 payable $1,000 at the beginning of each school year for the four years of undergraduate education. Criteria: An average student, with a grade point average in the 80 th percentile (80 s). Must display an interest in sports and/or school spirited activities. Must have a charismatic personality, good leadership skills and the ability to draw people towards him/her with a strong sense of humor. This grant should be given to a student who puts forth his/her best effort to be a hardworking student and respectful individual with modest confidence and an easy going manner. Student must be recommended by a teacher. The student must submit an activity sheet, an essay about why he/she is deserving of this particular scholarship and a teacher recommendation letter. Only COMPLETE applications will be accepted. 11. The Colaio Pedicini Memorial Foundation - Thomas Pedicini Scholarship. Amount $4,000 payable $1,000 at the beginning of each school year for the four years of undergraduate education. Criteria: Must be an average student with a grade point average 85% or higher. Must display an interest in sports and/or music. Must be self-motivated with a strong will to excel through hard work and practice. Must be easy-going and calm and non-judgmental. This grant should be given to a student who is a bright, energetic self-starter who is both patient and persistent in achieving his/her goals. Student must be recommended by a teacher. The student must submit an activity sheet, an essay about why he/she is deserving of this scholarship, and a teacher recommendation letter. Only COMPLETE applications will be accepted. 12. Mary D Andrea Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: Any student having attended Lee Avenue School, graduating from Hicksville High School, who will be pursuing a degree in education or any medical field. Student must have shown a commitment to community service and shown great improvements academically over the years and must also have characteristics that demonstrate selflessness and empathy for others.

13. Dutch Lane PTA Scholarship. Amount $500.00 Criteria: Student must be a graduate of Dutch Lane School, maintaining a grade point average of 75% - 100%. Students must have continued in the Hicksville school system and be graduating from same. The student will be going onto further education college, vocational, trade, etc. The student will be eligible if he/she also received another scholarship, except if another PTA or PTSA scholarship. The student should receive the higher of the scholarships. Applicants should have participated in at least one school and/or student activity such as school sports, clubs, or student committees. Outside employment and volunteer work are also taken into consideration. 14. Dutch Lane PTA Scholarship. Amount $500.00 Criteria: Student must be a graduate of Dutch Lane School, maintaining a grade point average of 75% - 100%. Students must have continued in the Hicksville school system and be graduating from same. The student will be going onto further education college, vocational, trade, etc. The student will be eligible if he/she also received another scholarship, except if another PTA or PTSA scholarship. The student should receive the higher of the scholarships. Applicants should have participated in at least one school and/or student activity involving the fine or performing arts. Outside employment and volunteer work are also taken into consideration. 15. Dutch Lane PTA Scholarship. Amount $500.00 Criteria: Student must be a graduate of Dutch Lane School, maintaining a grade point average of 75% - 100%. Students must have continued in the Hicksville school system and be graduating from same. The student will be going onto further education college, vocational, trade, etc. The student will be eligible if he/she also received another scholarship, except if another PTA or PTSA scholarship. The student should receive the higher of the scholarships. Applicants should have participated in at least one school and/or student activity involving sports or sport clubs. This includes Booster Clubs and Cheerleading. Outside employment and volunteer work are also taken into consideration. 16. Annual East Street PTA Scholarship Fund**. Amount $500.00. Criteria: Awarded to either one boy or one girl. Student must be a graduate of East Street School and a graduate of Hicksville High School. The student must be going on to further education such as college, vocational, trade, etc. Show an interest in community and school activities, be of average academic standing. In case of a tie, financial need will be the deciding factor. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA scholarship at the time of selection. 17. East Street PTA Rededication Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: Awarded to either one boy or one girl. Student must be a graduate of East Street School and a graduate of Hicksville High School. The student must be going on to further education such as college, vocational, etc. Maintain 80% average overall and submit two letters of recommendation from previous or current teachers showing exceptional effort in their academic studies. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA scholarship at the time of selection.

18. The East Street PTA/Sarah Grace Weippert Memorial Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: Awarded to a Hicksville High School graduating student who is also an East Street Elementary School graduate, male or female. Recipient must attend a two (2) or four (4) year college and must pursue an interest /degree in art and/or education. A teacher must nominate the student, preferably an art teacher and have a grade point average of 85% or better, with good attendance as well as good disciplinary record. The candidate should have a strong desire to excel through hard work and practice, must be easy going and non-judgmental and show a willingness to help others. This scholarship should be given to a bright energetic self-starter who is both patient and persistent in achieving his/her goals. The student should submit an activity sheet and an essay about why he/she is deserving of this scholarship. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA scholarship at the time of selection. 19. Elaine Resnik Eyes of Learning Scholarship for Service to School and Community. Amount (4) $500.00 each for a total of $2,000.00. Criteria: This scholarship will be awarded to four seniors, two girls and two boys who are graduating from Hicksville High School. These students must exemplify the spirit of Brotherhood by their motivation, commitment and sincerity in the acts and deeds they perform in the area of human relations. These students must participate in school activities and community service. The students must demonstrate a spirit of cooperation, good-will, understanding, kindness, respect and compassion for others. 20. Henry Euler Mathematics Education Scholarship. Amount (2) $500.00. Criteria: The student must pursue academic studies in the field of secondary mathematics teacher. If only one student is deemed worthy of this scholarship then that student will receive the full $1000.00. 21. Fork Lane Elementary Jeremy Katz Memorial Scholarship Sponsor: Amount $250.00. Eligibility/Criteria: Any student, having attended Fork Lane School, graduating from Hicksville High School, with a high interest in Art and/or has overcome a difficulty (illness, disability or physical disability). To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA Scholarship at the time of selection. 22. Fork Lane PTA Scholarship. (2) Amount $500.00 each will be awarded to two students. Criteria: Student must be a graduate of Fork Lane School. Student must apply to be considered. Any student who attains an overall academic average of 85% or better and shows social involvement, community service and/or student activities will be eligible. A student who will be going on to any further education will be eligible. The scholarship will be given upon proof of acceptance to school of his or her choice. No financial statement is to be required for this scholarship. Must be a graduating senior at Hicksville High School. 23. Fork Lane PTA Walter W. Gaylor, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. Amount $250.00. Criteria. A Fork Lane student graduating from Hicksville High School and attending any form of higher education. Student must show an interest in good citizenship and a desire to help others. Student need not have outstanding academic record, but must have studied to his/her best to achieve a grade point average of 80% or higher and possess a good attendance record.

24. Scott Fusco Memorial Scholarship. Amount $1,000.00. Criteria: A student with an average above 80%. Student must be planning to have a career in Law Enforcement. An activity sheet must be provided showing evidence of volunteer/service work in the community or school. Students must submit an essay explaining why he/she is deserving of this scholarship. 25. Galileo Galilei Lodge #2253 Memorial Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: To the student who over the course of four years, achieves the highest grade in study of the Italian language. Subject to approval from scholarship committee. 26. The Grace J. Fippinger Foundation, Inc. Scholarship.** Two (one male and one female) scholarship grants in the Amount of $20,000 each, payable $2,500 per semester for the four years of undergraduate education. To be awarded to deserving seniors who might otherwise be unable to attend the college of their choice. Students will be required to maintain a satisfactory grade point average, and demonstrate a commitment to community service. Students who win this award will be required, at the end of each school year, to send the Fippinger Foundation a copy of their most recent grades and a letter outlining the community service they have or plan to perform. Students failing to do so, will forfeit the scholarship. *Please provide a written statement as to why you are deserving of this scholarship. Exclusions- Family members of teachers and staff of the Hicksville Public School system. 27. The Ricky Greene Memorial Scholarship. Amount $1,000.00. Criteria: Student must be a graduating senior who has made a significant contribution to the Hicksville High School theatre program through active participation both backstage and onstage. The student must have an overall average of 80 or above and must be planning to attend a two year or four year college. An activity sheet must be included with the application. Financial need is not a requirement. 28. Hicksville American Soccer Club (HASC) Dave Daly Scholarship*. Amount $500.00. The Scholarship Committee will determine at the time of selection how many scholarships will be granted to either the Public or the Private school applicants. Criteria: Student must be a graduating High School senior the year of the application, have a minimum overall high school average of 80%, and plan on attending a university, college, or trade school in the fall following graduation. Student must be playing soccer either for their High School, HASC, or other certified soccer organization in their senior year. Every applicant MUST have played 3 years of travel soccer in the HASC. With all things being equal preference will be given to an active HASC player. Students must include the following with the application: two letters of recommendation, official transcript, brief resume, and an essay of 250 to 500 words on ONE of the following: How soccer has affected or influenced your life, In your years playing for the HASC, how has it influenced your life?, OR What has soccer done to positively affect your life? 29. Hicksville Athletic Booster Club Outstanding Male Athlete Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: Student must be graduating from Hicksville High School and will be continuing their education in a two- or four-year program. Student must participate on two Hicksville High School athletic teams his senior year and receive league honors (All- League, All-Conference, All-County, etc.) during any varsity season. Student must be well rounded and in academic good standing. All things being equal, HABC membership may be considered.

30. Hicksville Athletic Booster Club Outstanding Female Athlete Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: Student must be graduating from Hicksville High School and will be continuing their education in a two- or four-year program. Student must participate on two Hicksville High School athletic teams her senior year and receive league honors (All- League, All-Conference, All-County, etc.) during any varsity season. Student must be well rounded and in academic good standing. All things being equal, HABC membership may be considered. 31. Hicksville Athletic Booster Club Applebee s Neighborhood Grill/Kristy Haley Community Service. Amount $500.00. Criteria: Student must be graduating from Hicksville High School and will be continuing their education in a two- or four-year program. Student must participate on at least one Hicksville High School athletic team their senior year and be involved with community minded activities. Service to the community such as the service Applebee s provides to our school community is the essential ingredient to being awarded this scholarship. Student must be well rounded and in academic good standing. All things being equal, HABC membership may be considered. 32. Hicksville Athletic Booster Club Male Scholar Athlete Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: Student must graduating from Hicksville High School and continuing their education in a two- or four-year program. Student must have maintained an academic GPA of 90 or above. Student must participate on at least one Hicksville High School athletic team their senior year. Student must be well rounded. All things being equal, HABC membership may be considered. 33. Hicksville Athletic Booster Club Female Scholar Athlete Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: Student must graduating from Hicksville High School and continuing their education in a two- or four-year program. Student must have maintained an academic GPA of 90 or above. Student must participate on at least one Hicksville High School athletic team their senior year. Student must be well rounded. All things being equal, HABC membership may be considered. 34. Hicksville Athletic Booster Club Male Comet Scholarship. Amount (2) $500.00. Criteria: Student must be graduating from Hicksville High School and continuing their education in a two- or four-year program. Student must participate on an athletic team their senior year. Student must be well rounded, active in the community and in academic good standing. All things being equal, athletic commitment in the High School athletic programs and HABC membership may be considered. 35. Hicksville Athletic Booster Club Female Comet Scholarship. Amount (2) $500.00. Criteria: Student must be graduating from Hicksville High School and continuing their education in a two- or four-year program. Student must participate on an athletic team their senior year. Student must be well rounded, active in the community and in academic good standing. All things being equal, athletic commitment in the High School athletic programs and HABC membership may be considered.

36. Hicksville Baseball Association (HBA) Scholarship. Amount, Two $500.00 Scholarships will be awarded. One male, one female, first choice. Criteria: A student must be graduating Hicksville High School in the year of the application. Academics must be in good standing. They must have plans to attend a university, college, or trade school in the fall following graduation. They must have participated in HBA for at least one year. Students must submit an essay with a minimum of two hundred words on How has being part of HBA influenced my life. No financial information is required. Hicksville Chamber of Commerce Scholarship*. (2) awards. Amount $500 each. Criteria: Student must be accepted to a two- or four-year accredited college, university or trade school. Must reside in Hicksville and show active participation in community service to Hicksville. Criteria: Graduating senior of Hicksville High School. The student must demonstrate that they have worked for making Hicksville a better place through active participation in volunteering in community service performed ONLY IN HICKSVILLE. All things being equal, financial need shall not be a determining factor. Applicant must have participated in at least one school and/or student activity such as school sports, clubs, band, student committees. Hicksville High School PTSA Richard G. Hogan Memorial Scholarship. Amount $500.00 each. Two scholarships awarded; one male and one female. Criteria: Applicant must have a minimum three-year average of 80%, be graduating from Hicksville High School and continuing their studies in the field of education. Applicant must have also been involved in athletics, be of good character and show leadership qualities. Applicant must include a statement of future goals on the scholarship application, not to exceed 50 words in length. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA/PTSA scholarship. 63. Hicksville-Jericho Rotary Club. Amount $500.00. Criteria: Will be awarded to a student who is planning to further his or her education in any type of post-high school program, based upon successful community service activities. Students must submit on a separate sheet of paper some details about themselves: school experiences; plans for future education; interests, hobbies, and awards; and most importantly, information about community service performed. A letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor is required.

64. Hicksville Middle School PTSA Scholarship. Amount $500.00 Criteria: Student must be a graduate of the Hicksville Middle School and Hicksville High School. The student must be dedicated to the school and/or community, as well as being academically successful. He/she must have made a commitment to a two- or four-year college or a trade/commercial school. The student must apply to be considered. The receipt of this scholarship should not eliminate the student from other scholarships except those given by any other PTA/PTSA. Financial need not be a requirement. 65. Hicksville Middle School PTSA Marie Marshall Academic Excellence Award Scholarship. Amount $500.00 Criteria: Student must be a graduate of the Hicksville Middle School and Hicksville High School. The student must have demonstrated leadership potential and has been dedicated to the school and/or community, as well as being academically successful. He/she must have made a commitment to a two- or fouryear college or a trade/commercial school. The student must apply to be considered. The receipt of this scholarship should not eliminate the student from other scholarships except those given by any other PTA/PTSA. Financial need not be a requirement. 66. Hicksville Public Schools Staff Memorial Scholarship**. Two (2) at $500.00 each. Criteria: Students who will be attending a two- or four-year college or university. Economic need, academic potential and willingness to perform community service to help others or improve the quality of life of the area. 67. Coach Bob Hilsky Memorial Baseball Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: The student must be a graduating senior from Hicksville High School on the Varsity Baseball Team. The award will be presented to a player who demonstrates outstanding commitment, teamwork and character both on and off the field. The Varsity Baseball Coach will select the recipient once a year. The student will receive a trophy and their name will be added to a Perpetual Plaque which represents the scholarship. 68. Hicksville Scholarship Fund**. Amount $100.00. Criteria: Application must rank in the top 20% of class and be accepted at an approved four-year college or university. Financial need will be an important factor of consideration. 69. Holy Family CYO Tommy O Memorial Scholarship. Amount (2) $1,000.00 each. Criteria: Applicant must be a graduating high school senior and must be enrolled in an accredited college or university. Applicant must have a high school GPA of 80 or higher. Applicant must have substantial community service experience during their high school career as determined by the selection committee. Applicant must have been a member of Holy Family CYO for a minimum of 2 years. Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or guidance counselor. In addition, they must submit proof of high school GPA, along with an activity sheet which details community service experience. At the time the scholarship selections are made students may be requested to show proof of enrollment in an accredited college or university. Scholarship winners will be selected by Holy Family CYO. 70. Tina L. Inocco Scholarship Fund. Amount $500.00 Criteria: The scholarship should be presented to a graduating boy or girl of Hicksville High School who will be attending a four-year college and will be majoring in accounting.

71. Jeremy Katz Memorial Scholarship. Amount (1) $500.00. Criteria: This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from Hicksville High School who also attended Fork Lane elementary School and is pursuing higher studies in the field of Art. Must be an average student with a grade point average not higher than 90%. This student should be self-motivated with a strong will to excel through hard work and practice. The student must submit an essay about why he/she is deserving of this scholarship and a teacher letter of recommendation. 72. The Gieir-Levitt Post No. 655 of The Jewish War Veterans of the USA, Inc. Community Brotherhood Award. Amount $100.00 Criteria: To be awarded to a student (male or female) who best exemplifies service to the community and caring for others. Selection will be made without regard to scholarship standing or religion. 73. The Gieir-Levitt Post No. 655 of The Jewish War Veterans of the USA, Inc. XX Olympiad-Sports Memorial Award. Amount $100.00 Criteria: To be awarded to a student (male or female) who has distinguished himself/herself in any HS sports program (team/individual). 74. Kiwanis Foundation of Hicksville - Hicksville Kiwanians Past and Present Scholarship*(**). Amount $1,000.00. Criteria: This scholarship is open to all Hicksville residents who are graduating from high school. To be considered, the student must submit a COMPLETE application and be attending an institution of higher learning (college, university or trade/commercial school) in September. It will be awarded without preference as to gender, color, creed or religion. Preference will be given to a student who plans to pursue studies in the field of business and has either had part-time employment or participated in community service during high school. The award, in honor of his parents, is open to all Hicksville High School graduating seniors. Because community service is important to the Saueracker family, the recipient of this award must demonstrate leadership potential and be actively engaged in community service in Hicksville and extracurricular activities. The student must be in the top 25% of the class and demonstrate strong social involvement/community service. To be considered, the student must submit a complete application and be attending a four year university or college in September. 80. Kiwanis Foundation of Hicksville Philip M. Tornatore, DDS Health Care Scholarship*. Amount $1,000.00. This scholarship is open to all Hicksville residents who are graduating from High School. To be considered, the student must submit a complete application and be attending an institute of high learning in the health care field. The student must be in the top 25% of his/her graduating class. Preference will be given to those students who are pursuing study in the field of dentistry and who demonstrate involvement in community service. Two letters of recommendation are required: 1) one from a teacher in the health/science field and 2) a personal reference from a teacher, counselor or employer. A separate application is available in the Guidance Office. Only COMPLETE applications will be considered. 81. Daniel Kristoff Memorial Scholarship. Daniel Kristoff gave the gift of music, teaching, theater, humor, and heart to serving the students of Hicksville High School. Through the scholarship fund, Mr. Kristoff s legacy will live on as students pursue their love of music and share it with others. Amount $1,000.00. Criteria: Graduating senior who plans to pursue a degree in theatrical (musical) performance, voice, or music education. The student must also show the greatest appreciation for their love of music. 82. Lee Avenue PTA Mary M. D Andrea Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Eligibility/Criteria: Any student, having attended Lee Avenue School, graduating from Hicksville High School, who will be pursuing a career in elementary education, if no applicants are pursuing an elementary education career, then an applicant pursuing a career in the education field. The recipient should be a well-rounded, hardworking average student. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA Scholarship at the time of selection. 83. Lee Avenue PTA Lee Del Hughes Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Eligibility/Criteria: Any student, having attended Lee Avenue School, graduating from Hicksville High School, and attending any form of higher education, who has shown a commitment to community service. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA Scholarship at the time of selection. 84. Lee Avenue PTA Jack Mateer Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Eligibility/Criteria: Any honor roll (or high honor roll) student, having attended Lee Avenue School, graduating from Hicksville High School, and pursuing any form of higher education. Recipient should be a well-rounded student, having been involved in various school related programs/activities and involved in community service. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA Scholarship at the time of selection. 85. Lee Avenue PTA Monica Leary Memorial Scholarship Sponsor. Amount $500.00. Eligibility/Criteria: Any student, having attended Lee Avenue School, graduating from Hicksville High School, who will be pursuing an education in nursing. If no applicants are pursuing a nursing career, then in that event, a student pursuing an education in a medically related field/social work; preferably in pediatrics. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA Scholarship at the time of selection. 86. Lee Avenue PTA Donald Skupinsky Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Eligibility/Criteria: Any student, having attended Lee Avenue School, graduating from Hicksville High School, who will be pursuing a career in education. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA Scholarship at the time of selection.

87. Phyllis, Robert and Lawrence Levy Memorial Scholarship**. Amount $300.00. To be paid directly to the school for any post high school education. Applicants must rank in the middle third of the class, be accepted at a school or college and show evidence of financial need. This scholarship shall be given without preference to either a male or female student. 88. Scholarship In Memory of Andrew LiCalsi. Amount $500.00. Criteria: The student who receives this scholarship should be applying to a two- or four-year college with the plan to pursue a career in business. The student need not have an outstanding academic record, but must study to the best of their ability to achieve an average of at least 80-85%. Finally the student should have an outgoing personality and care very much about the well-being (emotional and physical) of others. 89. Lion's Club of Hicksville - Hicksville Lions Memorial Scholarship (A). Amount usually $400.00. Criteria: To be awarded to a BOCES student to use toward the purchase of tools and/or equipment in starting their career. 90. Lion's Club of Hicksville - Hicksville Lions Memorial Scholarship (B). Amount usually $400.00. Criteria: To be awarded to a student who demonstrates outstanding service to their community. 91. Michael Magro Memorial Scholarship. Amount (2) $500.00 each. Criteria: This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from Hicksville High School who is going on to college, played Lacrosse and is involved in the Fine Arts Department. Additionally, this student will have shown great improvement academically over the years, possesses personal traits that show kindness and compassion for others. 92. Irvin Munowitz Memorial Scholarship. Amount $75.00. Criteria: Student must plan to continue education and become a teacher of children with special needs. 93. Nassau County American Legion. Amount $1,000. Criteria: The recipient of this award must be the valedictorian of his or her class. This scholarship will be awarded to the student with the most outstanding academic credentials in Nassau County. 94. Nassau County Police Activity League Kevin Kolm Memorial Scholarship. Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded to two graduating seniors, 2 scholarships will be awarded each year, funding permitting. These scholarships will go to graduating seniors who will be continuing their education in college or technical school. Their high school GPA must not exceed 88%. The applicants must have participated in a Hicksville Police Activity League program. Students must show interest in arts and/or sports. Student must be a Citizen of the United States. Each applicant must be active in community service or as a volunteer. An activity sheet must be submitted along with a letter of recommendation by a teacher or community leader. This letter must describe how the student has shown civic responsibility, good citizenship, outstanding accomplishments in areas of service and leadership. Also, the student must indicate what program in PAL they participated in and what year. Any applications submitted without an activity sheet, letter of recommendation and a note indicating which PAL program with year the student participated in will not be considered.

95. Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union Making A Difference Scholarship. $500.00 will be awarded to one student. Candidate must have a minimum four-year overall average of 90%. Candidate must have demonstrated service to school and community. Award can be used for study at either a two-year or four-year school with priority given to those who plan to enter a helping profession such as teaching, nursing, social work, health related services, etc. However, this is not a specific requirement. Financial need is not a necessary requirement to receive this award. 96. Old Country Road PTA Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: Student must be a graduate of Old Country Road School. Must have continued in the Hicksville Public School system and graduated from same. Must go on for further education such as college, vocational, trade school, etc. Student is eligible if he/she received another scholarship, but may only receive one of the four offered by the Old Country Road PTA. Student must have participated in school and/or student activities such as sports, clubs, band, student committees, etc. In fact, such participation will count for 2/3 of the total score used in the selection process. Academics will account for the remaining 1/3. The student does not have to be on the honor roll. However, if there is a tie, then the academic standing can be the deciding factor. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA Scholarship at the time of selection. 97. Old Country Road PTA Catherine Dillon Academic Achievement Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: Student must be a graduate of Old Country Road School. Must have continued in the Hicksville Public School system and graduated from same. Must go on for further education such as college, vocational, trade school, etc. Student may only receive one of the four scholarships given by the Old Country Road PTA, but may apply and receive other scholarships. Student must have achieved a 90% average or better to be considered and must have participated in school and/or community activities. Academics will count for 2/3 of the total score and the remaining 1/3 will be the student s involvement in school and the community. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA Scholarship at the time of selection. 98. Old Country Road PTA Kevin Kolm Memorial Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: The student must have graduated from Old Country Road School and continued their education within the Hicksville School District, as well be a graduating senior at Hicksville High School. The student must be planning to attend a two- or four-year college, or a trade/vocational school. Additionally, the student must have demonstrated leadership and performed community service, as well as having been actively involved in one of the following areas: music, art or sports. High Academic achievement is not a requirement. To be awarded to a student who has not won any other PTA Scholarship at the time of selection. 99. Old Country Road PTA Joan Lane Memorial Scholarship. Amount $500.00. Criteria: The student must have graduated from Old Country Road School and continued their education within the Hicksville School District, as well as be a graduating senior at Hicksville High School. The student must be planning to attend either a two- year or fouryear college, or vocational school. The student must be pursuing a course of study in teaching or administration in a nonprofit organization (not corporate). Additionally, the student must have demonstrated leadership skills through a school or community organization, with emphasis on a spirit of initiative either academically or through service. The student must possess a high caliber of social responsibility; therefore, candidate could not possess a record of cutting classes, misconduct or excessive lateness. The minimum academic overall achievement is a B+ (at least 84.5%) is also required.
