SUMMER WINEMAKING-CULTURE SCHOOL IN BURGUNDY June 21-27, 2015 (Registrations starting in March) The Summer Winemaking-Culture School in Burgundy is hosted by the University of Burgundy- Vine and Wine Institute "Jules Guyot" as part of the viticulture and enology program. Located in the heart of Burgundy, the IUVV delivers a one-week intense course program, entirely in English, on various aspects of burgundian viticulture, winemaking and wine culture and history. This year the program will focus on the discovery of Burgundy terroirs, on traditional winemaking and will give the fundamentals in wine tasting. During this program you will increase your wine tasting skills and knowledge; gain hands-on practice working vines and making wine; enjoy field trips to famous Burgundy wine regions. The Summer School is also about, sightseeing and socializing. Receptions, visits to Burgundy-related sites and special events are organized for the participants. Teachers are all well-known university professors specialized in viticulture, enology, wine history and wine culture matters. However, for this year the summer school acclaimed some famous winemakers and vineyard managers from Burgundy. The Summer Course takes place in Dijon, the capital of Burgundy (1:40 minutes from Paris, by train, 30 minutes from Beaune by car). Restaurants, bars, museums, sight-seeing as well as the proximity of some of the most famous Burgundy brands make Dijon a joyful destination. The Summer School is opened to students in viticulture and enology, wine enthusiasts, to professionals working in the wine and the alcohol beverage industry; to researchers on wine issues; and anyone with a keen interest in discovering or understanding the secrets of wines from Burgundy. Tuition covers all materials, lunches, group dinners and tastings and housing. Looking forward to seeing you there! PRACTICAL INFORMATION APPLICATION PROCEDURE The application form is downloadable here and should be sent via e-mail to Mrs Juliane Mouries (juliane.mouries@u-bourgogne.fr). The completed application form should be received no later than April 26, 2015 (early-bird registration fee). A second session, upon availability, will be organized and applications should reach the Summer Winemaking-culture school in Burgundy by June 3 (full registration fee). We will notify you about outcome of your application by email by April 30, 2015 (or June 6, for late applicants). For successful applicants, payment of tuition fees should reach the appropriate address no later than May 29, 2015, for early bird registration or June 12, 2015 for late registration. Only fee payment complying with the instructions mentioned below will be considered valid.
SPECIAL EVENTS During the one-week program, special events, including visits to Burgundy historical sites and wineries, wine tasting and the gala dinner, will be organized. ACCOMMODATION Accommodation facilities in the city of Dijon may be provided upon request ( application form). All participants are welcome to apply for complimentary accommodation but the Summer Wine makingculture school cannot guarantee free accommodation for everyone. Priority will be given to students and participants from overseas. For all other participants, accommodation on special rates will be proposed FEES Fees are payable once the formal offer has been made. For the 2015 session, the payable fees are 1,600 for an early-bird registration or 1,800 for a full registration.
