Voyager Reporting System (VRS) Installation Guide Revised 5/09/06
System Requirements Verification 1. Verify that the workstation s Operating System is Windows 2000 or Higher. 2. Verify that Microsoft Access 2000 or Higher is installed directly on the workstation (over the network will not suffice). Make note of the location of MSACCESS.EXE, e.g. c:\program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Msaccess.exe. 3. Verify that the workstation has a current version of Oracle for Windows NT, with the patches (ORA8057 and ORA8058) installed. If the current Oracle ODBC Driver (8.00.58.00) displayed in Figure 2 is installed then proceed to Oracle SQL Net Configuration. Otherwise follow the steps below to install Oracle Client Application. Note: Start Program Files Oracle for Window NT Microsoft ODBC Administrator
Oracle 8.0.5 ODBC Installation (Distributed originally by Endeavor Information Systems; Modified by GIL Service Site @ GA State University) Approximately 183 MB of free hard disk space is required to install Oracle Client. Once the ODBC805SP2.zip, ORA8057.exe and ORA8058.exe files are downloaded onto your workstation from the GIL Download Site follow the procedures below to install the Oracle ODBC driver and SQL*Net. 1. Unzip the ODBC805SP2.zip file into a temporary directory on the client s workstation (C:\temp\Oracle). Zip program such as WINZIP or Windows XP unzip utility can be used to extract the zipped file. 2. Create a directory within C:\temp\Oracle\Patch8057 and C:\temp\Oracle\Patch8058 for the Oracle ODBC Driver patches. Download both patches into their directory accordingly. Double-click ORA8057.exe and ORA8058.exe to extract into the described directory. 3. Open the unzipped ODBC805SP2 in the current directory and double click setup.exe. 4. Type the institution name for the Company Name field and keep the default values for the following fields. Follow the example in Figure 3 Name: DEFAULT_HOME Location: c:\orant Language: English
5. Select the options below, on the left side of the screen, using the Ctrl Key and then click the install button. Follow the example in Figure 4. After successful installation, install the ODBC Drivers.
Installing Patches 6. While the Oracle Asset Manager window is open, Click on the From button to browse c:\temp\oracle\ patch.exe \win32\install\nt.prd file and choose OK to select the Oracle ODBC driver patch. 7. Refer to step 2 to download and extract the Oracle ODBC Driver patches.

VRS Setup and Configuration Installing VRS Before the installation begins create the path: C:\G2\VRS\vrs_install. Download the latest version of VRS from the GIL download site. Unzip the contents of the file into the \vrs_install folder. The VRS_Setup.exe file will automatically begin after you successfully unzip the folder. For a typical installation, follow the prompts and accept all of the default values within the InstallShield Wizard. The Database Setup will begin once the wizard ends. That database setup must be performed in order for VRS to function correctly.
