W H O W E A R E Eastern Michigan University s Aviation Program offers two majors: Aviation Flight Technology and Aviation Management. Our Aviation Flight Technology program is the largest collegiate flight program in the southeast Michigan and northern Ohio region. Our program includes specialized courses in flight training, safety, aerodynamics, aviation law and crew resource management. You will begin flight training your first week in the program and can even begin training the summer before your first year. Flight Training for the Eastern Michigan University Aviation Flight Technology program takes place at EMU s Eagle Flight Center. The Eagle Flight Center is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 141 approved flight school. The west side of historic Willow Run Airport (KYIP) is where the Eagle Flight Center is located, and is only seven miles from the EMU campus. We offer the unique opportunity for EMU aviation students to participate in Venture trips weeklong flight training exercises in locations including Venice, Florida, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We take most of the fleet to these locations, and students gain experience flying into different airfields and flight conditions. A f f o r d a b i l i t y Eastern Michigan University s tuition is among the lowest in the state of Michigan. EMU, located just 45 minutes north of Toledo, automatically charges in-state tuition rates to students from Ohio. EMU s tuition rates are less than nearly every four-year public university in the state of Ohio. Students from outside of Michigan and Ohio who have a 3.0 GPA and either a 20 ACT or 950 SAT are eligible for EMU s National Scholarship Program (NSP), which covers the entire difference between out-state and in-state tuition. Recipients of the NSP are also eligible for other academic scholarships for which they qualify. For more information, visit emich.edu/finaid EMU, located only five miles from the University of Michigan, is ideally located for those seeking careers as military aviators. Approximately 40% of the NROTC (Navy) and AFROTC (Air Force) students in University of Michigan-based units are EMU students, including several EMU Aviation Flight Technology majors. Some NROTC scholarships will even pay for flight training! W h a t O u r S t u d e n t s S a y When I first visited EMU Aviation, I was greatly impressed with the professionalism and courteousness of the Eagle Flight staff. I also liked the feeling of community that was present. This was the basis for my decision to attend EMU Aviation. Nick Dziad Sylvania, Ohio I have been flying with Eagle Flight for a year now, and my most memorable moment has been getting my private pilot s license on New Year s Day in Florida during the Venture trip! Izzy Novak Ann Arbor, Michigan After I graduate, I plan to pursue a flying career in the aviation industry. Because of the training and professionalism from the faculty and staff of Eastern Michigan s Aviation Flight Technology program, I think that I will be very well prepared. Ryan Daugherty Dublin, Ohio
