2 Brief Description: Loyola s masters degree in special education is nationally recognized, and meets the professional needs of new career entrants as well as advanced career professionals. This program will meet the requirements for initial certification in generic special education. The special education program emphasizes legal issues, flexible service delivery, comprehensive assessment, evidence-based intervention techniques, and advanced professional skills. The program prepares both beginning and advanced professionals to provide effective services to students with high incidence disabilities including language or learning disabilities, emotional/behavior disorders, ADHD, and mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. Program graduates are prepared to teach students with special needs in a variety of educational settings across the Baltimore County Public Schools.
