As a result, persons with behavioural intervention skills are in high demand. UNB CEL provides programs to help fill the gap. Our programs are available to anyone working with or caring for individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other behaviour disorders. Whether you re a front-line practitioner, a health-care professional, a student seeking a career in a human services field, or a parent, our programs will help you provide more effective support. 3 autism support training certificate PROGRAM This certificate program uses only evidence-based practices that are supported by documented research. Our curriculum and approaches are aligned with best practices, based on the most recent professional literature and evaluation. Over the course of 6 months, on a part-time basis, you will learn evidence-based treatment for individuals diagnosed with an ASD. This intensive program will show you how to: Apply more effective interventions and enhance your ability to modify the behaviour of children with ASD and other behavioural challenges Become empowered to make informed decisions and nurture respectful collaborative relationships for the benefit of those with Autism Format Core Theory is offered through online instruction and lectures spread over 24 weeks. Understanding Autism Evidence-based Intervention Strategies Typical and atypical development Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Medical awareness Reinforcement Communication Prompts, fading and attending Social skills Behaviour management Evaluation of child progress Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) Core Practicum provides up to 10 full days of hands-on training, working closely with autism professionals and instructors and putting into practice the theories and skills learned online. Support Skills Data Collection and Analysis Reinforcement Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) Prompt and prompt fading Reducing problematic behaviours Error correction Behaviour support plan Once you ve successfully completed all the core theory courses and the practicum you ll be awarded a Certificate of Proficiency that is recognized by the health care industry that can help you advance your career or break into the field of ASD. Who Should Attend The program is designed for paraprofessionals who work with individuals diagnosed with autism including: community living and human services workers, counselors, daycare and group home workers, educators, medical professionals, nurses, occupational therapists, parents or caregivers, psychologists, and researchers.
4 behavioural intervention WORKSHOPS/MODULES Behaviour Workshop (3 days, face-to-face) This workshop will give front-line workers foundational and theoretical knowledge for working with individuals who have behavioural challenges. Topics include: The Behavioural Model Accelerating Desirable Behaviours Process of Behavioural Intervention Decelerating Non-Desirable Behaviours Behavioural Assessment Token Economy Stimulus Control Procedures Coming soon! Online Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Training FASD is a range of disabilities that result from exposure to alcohol during pregnancy. This course consists of Theory modules that include online presentations, videos, and practical based research cases, and a Practicum that will use a current client caseload in both classroom setting and existing work environments. Some of the subjects will be on Introduction to FASD (including discussion of diagnostic systems); Brain, Mind and Behaviour in FASD; and a Focus on Prevention of secondary disabilities. Online Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) for Parents This course has been designed for family members and caregivers of children with behavioural challenges or special needs and is suitable for managing behavioural challenges of children of all ages and abilities. If your child has intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or general behavioural challenges, this program may help you to manage the day-to-day demands that many parents like you face. ABA for parents takes bits and pieces of the practical applications found in many of UNB CEL s behavioural intervention programs that are designed for those working in the area of behaviour intervention, but ABATP is specifically designed to help parents.
