5 Background on Southeast Indiana Mainly rural 300,000 residents 140,000 employed people Population growth rate is flat (and will be in the future) Nearly one in three people work in advanced manufacturing Average wage for advanced manufacturing jobs in Southeast Indiana is $44,000 which is 20 to 30 percent higher than the next largest employment sectors of wholesale trade, healthcare, and education 2008, EcO15 Project.
