8 the key numbers of the agricultural sector in Africa agriculture covers on average: 60% of the jobs, 45% of the areas, and 13% of the GDP (50% in some countries) in Sub-Saharan Africa FAO, World Bank, 2013 agriculture is the main source of revenues for 60% of the agricultural population World Bank 2013 in order to improve the agriculture in the developing countries, it is necessary to: rise the productivity modernize the value chain promote the local demand FAO, World Bank, 2013 the agricultural market might reach 1000 billion of dollars by 2030 whereas it currently represents 313 billion of dollars World Bank million of people suffer from hunger in Africa 86% of arable lands in Sub-Saharan Africa are not exploited World Bank
