7 Description Judge Leon Higginbotham Jr. was a man who confronted and fought racism throughout his life beginning his career in private practice in Philadelphia. He served his country publicly as Commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission, a judge in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of PA, and adviser to President Lyndon B. Johnson. This internship is open to students planning to enroll in law school and are residents of Pennsylvania. Each summer, the Senator selects one applicant to serve as a paid intern for six weeks in his Washington D.C. office. This internship will provide the opportunity to participate in the legislative process while working to further the cause of equal justice. Requirements: Demonstrated interest in public service and the legislative process, be able to work and learn in diverse settings, should have a solid scholastic achievement, demonstrated leadership ability, interest in public policy, strong writing skills and a record of community service. 3.5 or above GPA. 3 references required with application submission. Adcock for Congress is running for Congressional Office. Adcock needs help with the campaign for November 2014 Election. Interns will assist with opposition research, grassroots campaigning, mailing etc. Intern can be reimbursed for expenses such as mileage and gas and will discuss later with intern. Responsibilities include: research on legislation, assist government relations staff with their advocacy efforts, work with research staff on multiple survey mailings and projects, and help maintain website and more. Student should have interest in state government, higher education, or research; good written and communication skills; ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel; website editing and maintenance experience desirable. Early deadlines, speak with Co-op department for more information. This City Council Office has eight employees and is divided between constituent services and policy/research. The latter develops Council Green s legislative agenda. The constituent service staff helps navigate Philadelphia s bureaucracy. This ranges from tax and permit problems to getting lights fixed in their neighborhood park. Mayor s Interns are placed in various city departments and offices and participate in weekly events aimed at exposing them to municipal government operations and careers. All students must first apply with the Co-op Department. The Philadelphia Division s Volunteer Internship Program (VIP) is for full-time students residing in the greater Philadelphia area. The interns will be assigned to work at FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C., The FBI Laboratory s Forensic Science Research and Training Center or at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. Requirements: APPLICANTS MUST BE JUNIORS IN COLLEGE OR A GRADUATE LEVEL STUDENT RETURNING TO HIS/HER RESPECTIVE CAMPUS FOLLOWING THE INTERNSHIP; 3.0 or higher GPA and must meet other requirements for FBI employment, including U.S. Citizenship. Interns must undergo an extensive background investigation and will be polygraphed on declared drug usage before being offered employment. The internship program will begin approximately the first Monday in June and will end approximately the third Friday in August. Offices are in Mayfair and Fox Chase with six f.t. staffers. Interns receive training and supervision and work one-on-one with constituents. Interns will work with federal, municipal and other state organizations.

Assisting in the Congressman's local office with a variety of duties. Political Science: Ed Neilson is the State Representative for the 169th legislative district in NE Philadelphia. The student Intern would be involved with Community Outreach, Constituent Services and Legislative Research and working with three full-time staff members. Hours are determined by University requirements and the legislator. There is always support staff in Harrisburg, PA (office in the Capital). Internship Program available with Congressman Patrick J. Murphy (PA). Duties include administrative tasks, research and other projects assigned by the Congressional staff. Interns will engage in Congressional activities relating to constituent services. This is a statewide, citizen-based environmental advocacy organization. They work for clean air, clean water, and preserving Pennsylvania s open spaces by educating the public. Student interns will have the opportunity to take part in work that will assist the organization s efforts to pass legislation that will protect Pennsylvania s environment. This includes researching environmental problems and policy solutions, building coalitions with other organizations and businesses, managing and developing volunteers, assisting in media outreach to generate news coverage of environmental issues, planning events such as lobby days in Harrisburg and more. 169th Legislative District in NE Philadelphia, Ed Neilson PA House of Representative The student Intern would be involved with Community Outreach, Constituent Services and Legislative Research and working with three full-time staff members. 10 Politicial Science Pennsylvania House of Representative : John P. Sabatina Jr: 174th Legislative District. Intern will be working with constituent services, research, and administrative/clerical duties. The Pennsylvania Catholic Conference is the public affairs arm of Pennsylvania s Catholic bishops and the Catholic dioceses of Pennsylvania. There are 10 Catholic dioceses in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Eight are Latin Rite dioceses, fully contained within the Commonwealth. Two are Byzantine Rite dioceses with Apostolic Sees in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.The Pennsylvania Catholic Conference has set broad objectives and highlighted some particular issues of concern. A practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred, but not a requirement; however, the candidate must be in full support of the doctrines, teachings and laws of the Church. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills, strong editing and proofreading skills; knowledge of AP Style and the ability to multi-task. Proficiency with PCs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, is a plus. The project oriented internship involved research, writing and outreach about public policy issues of concern to the Catholic Church. Interns will work alongside Treasury management and staff allowing networking opportunities and the ability to contribute to something greater than themselves: helping to keep the wheels of state government in motion and providing valuable services to Pennsylvania families. The Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) is Philadelphia's city-wide economic development corporation. Founded in 1958 as a non-profit, joint venture between the City of Philadelphia and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, PIDC plans and implements real estate and financing transactions that attract investment, jobs and tax ratables to the City of Philadelphia. Philadelphia Republican City Committee- This group works specifically in the field of politics and there are five full-time employees in the office including a lawyer. Intern would be working with the above employees as well as with phone banks and when necessary door-to-door canvassing.
