1 Summer Leadership Program SLP candidates should be working toward an accounting degree and CPA exam eligibility. Candidates will preferably be sophomores or juniors with projected final graduation dates (150 hours) between December 2017 and August 2018 who would be looking to intern during the spring or summer of 2017 and for post-graduation opportunities beginning January 2018 through Fall 2018; students with later graduation dates may be considered. The BKD Summer Leadership Program is 1½ day conference held twice in mid-may (students will elect to attend one conference) in Indianapolis and late-july in Oakbrook. Attendees will learn strategies in 7 Habits training with a focus on professional development and hear discussions with our top industry experts. Additionally, they will participate in an internship panel and in leadership building exercises, complete a community service project with BKD staff and visit some of our top local clients. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who possess effective time management and communication skills, and the ability to successfully interact with all levels of management. 2 Full Time Associate Full-time associate require a bachelor s or advanced accounting degree in accounting and CPA exam eligibility prior to the start of employment. Candidates will preferably be seniors or masters students with projected final graduation dates (150 hours) between December 2015 and August 2016 who would be looking for postgraduation opportunities beginning January 2016 through Fall 2016; students with later graduation dates may be considered. Minimum GPA of 3.2 (in major and overall) is required. Candidates must be US citizens or permanent US residents. As an associate at BKD, you may use your critical thinking abilities to help clients solve problems or apply your social skills to build rewarding business relationships. You will work with clients from a variety of industries as you develop your technical skills and strengthen the foundation on which you will build your career. Whether you choose to start in audit or tax, you will be coached by our experienced staff and management personnel. Associates may take on the following responsibilities: Complete audit testing on financial statement accounts such as cash, accounts payable, or fixed assets Work with client personnel to reconcile account differences and analyze financial data Help draft management letter comments and the audit report Prepare individual, corporate, partnership or other tax returns Calculate tax extension or estimate payments Participate in client meetings alongside BKD partners and managers Successful associates display the following skills and characteristics: Solid technical accounting knowledge Effective time management Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to work well with a team as well as independently Problem-solving attitude Willingness to take initiative Close attention to detail Ability to work under pressure and against deadlines. As an intern at BKD, you may use your critical thinking abilities to help clients solve problems or apply your social skills to build rewarding business relationships. You will work with clients from a variety of industries as you develop your technical skills and strengthen the foundation on which you will build your career. A full-time commitment is required for the duration of the internship, therefore a full course load is not recommended.
