Admissions Policy AmericasMart Atlanta is a wholesale market center and is closed to the general public. Passes and/or business credentials must be presented to enter any of the Marts during normal operating hours, after hours and during Markets. This policy helps ensure that access is limited to authorized personnel only. Business/Press Badges Buyer Registration issues all business/press badges to persons requiring access to the building for professional business purposes (i.e.: equipment suppliers, non-exhibiting manufacturers, retail showrooms and new stores not yet open.) The Marketing Department must clear all press badges. Buyer s Badges AmericasMart Atlanta is a wholesale facility open to the trade only. To enter, you must be affiliated with a business that resells product represented in the Marts. Commercial, as well as qualified home-based businesses can register at any of the registration desks located in the lobby of each building, provided they present the necessary credentials. For detailed information on required credentials, call ATL-MART or Contractor Badges The Property Management Office issues all contractor badges. All contractors planning to work in the building must first register with the Property Management Office on the loading dock of Building 1, Building 3 or the Operations Office at 220 Spring Street before initiating any work. Contractor badges must be worn at all times in the Mart. These badges show where and when the contractor may work. All contractor personnel must sign in and out with the Security Officer near the freight elevators on the loading dock. Contractors are only authorized to be in that portion of the building where they are working and on the dates shown on their badges. Violations will result in the termination of access privileges. 1-1 Badges for weekend or evening work must be pre-approved through the Property Management Office during normal business hours. Contractors who arrive during offhours without pre-approval will be denied access to the buildings. Guest/Courtesy Badges Permanent Showroom owners and employees may request guest/courtesy badges from registration for access exclusive to the building where their showroom is located. These badges are only valid for the day requested, and if possible, we would prefer 24 hours
notice for requests. The following information is required in writing via fax, or in person: -Date Guest will be arriving -Showroom name requesting pass -Showroom location requesting pass -Name of person from showroom requesting pass -Name of guest (first and last please) Children under 12 are not allowed unless they are children of the showroom owner or an employee of the showroom. Children of showroom owners or employees are required to wear their courtesy badges while in the buildings. During Gift Markets, Buyers may purchase two (2) guest badges per company for $50 (cash only) each. No guest badges are issued during the Immediate Delivery Shows. Please your requests to the appropriate building: Or fax: Building Building Building 2 West Wing Building ** You can only request a courtesy pass for the building where your showroom is located. 1-2 Permanent Showroom Photo ID Badges Photo I.D. Badges ( PID Badges ) are badges that AmericasMart issues to tenants with long-term Leases within the AmericasMart Complex, and to the designated employees of such tenants, to facilitate such individuals ongoing access to AmericasMart. Each such tenant will be asked to supply AmericasMart with a list of its employees to whom such tenant wishes a PID Badge to be issued. This list should be updated as the tenant s staffing changes to prevent continued access to the facility by former employees. Please note that tenants remain responsible for the conduct of any individual for whom such tenant has authorized a badge. AmericasMart may request updated lists from time to time as tenants amend or renew their Leases or take other leasing actions. Tenants will not, however, be required to provide more than one (1) authorization list per twelve (12) month period. PID Badges issued to a tenant and to its employees will be considered to have expired when such tenant has no current lease with AmericasMart, or when AmericasMart otherwise requests the return of such PID Badges.
PID Badges remain the property of AmericasMart, even during the use by tenant and tenant s authorized employees. At the expiration or earlier termination of a tenant s Lease, all PID badges issued at the request of such tenant must be promptly returned to AmericasMart. Additionally, when an employee is no longer employed by the tenant or is no longer approved by the tenant to have a badge, such employee s badge must be promptly returned to AmericasMart. Tenants will be assessed an administrative charge of $ for each PID Badge issued at the request of such tenant but not returned as required hereunder. Replacements for lost PID Badge will be charged at the rate of $ per badge. The Photo ID Office is located in the AmericasMart Operations Center, 220 Spring Street, next to Building 2 (the Gift Building). Hours are extended during Markets. Please contact the administrator at (404) for further details. Pick-up and Delivery Badges Property Management issues all pick-up and delivery badges to personnel needing temporary access to the building to make a pick-up from or delivery to the loading dock. All pick-up and deliveries must be made at the loading dock only. Deliveries of any nature attempting entry through the front doors will be directed to the loading dock. Personnel picking up or making a delivery are required to sign in with Property Management on the loading dock and will receive a pick-up or delivery badge. Personnel making pick-ups and/or deliveries are only authorized in the areas where pickups/deliveries are being made. Temporary Exhibitor Badges Authorized part-time or temporary showroom employees will be issued temporary exhibitor passes by Buyer Registration only upon request of the showroom owner. Temporary exhibitor passes are issued only for a particular market/show or other special need. Please help us control access by retrieving these badges from your personnel when access is no longer required. 1-3 BUILDING INFORMATION, RULES AND REGULATIONS Contractors Any contractor who is not on the AmericasMart approved contractors list must be approved by the Development Office. A booklet detailing contractor/construction guidelines is available from the Development Office. Due to the nature of this special work, all electrical, mechanical and sprinkler work must
be performed by the firms listed on the approved contractor list. Please contact the Development Office at Common Areas of the Buildings Common areas of the buildings are defined as any and all corridors, elevator lobbies, freight lobbies, escalator lobbies, restrooms, janitor closets, bridges, stairwells, mechanical rooms, meeting rooms and any other areas of the buildings that are not showroom space. The corridors are for entrance and exit to the showrooms only. Merchandise and trash are not to be unpacked or stored in the corridors. Construction work of any type is strictly prohibited in all corridors, freight lobbies, mechanical rooms and any other public areas. Violators are subject to an immediate fine of $300 plus charges for any damages. Circulars/Handbills The distribution of circulars and handbills is prohibited in common areas. This includes inside elevators, entry doors, parking lots and thoroughfares coming to and going from the Mart. Dollies/Trash Cans/Floats Subject to availability, showrooms needing dollies, trash cans and/or floats may check out this equipment from the Shipping & Receiving Office during business hours and from Security after hours and on weekends. This equipment must be returned immediately after use. Dollies and/or floats that are checked out during the two (2) weeks prior and/or during any market period must be returned within one (1) hour to ensure availability to all showrooms. Failure to return equipment within the one (1) hour user window will be charged $50 for each hour of use after the expired return time. Partial hour charges will not be prorated, but 2-1 charged for the full hour. Each showroom will be responsible for the dolly/trash can/float return in a timely manner. Electrical Load In order to promote and maintain energy conservation and to ensure that showroom heat loads do not exceed cooling capacity, showrooms are allowed only up to 5 watts for electrical consumption per rentable square foot, or 7 watts per usable square foot. Please do no exceed this load. Excess loading will result in tripped electrical breakers, which will disrupt your business. Engineering will respond to three (3) tripped breaker calls per showroom. Upon the third call, an AmericasMart approved electrician will be called in at the expense of the showroom to balance the electrical load. Lights left on overnight will be cut off at the breaker. Call the Property Management Office to have breaker locks installed to protect computers, refrigerators, etc. that need to be left on. AmericasMart is not responsible for any damage caused by power being shut off at the breaker box.
Electrical Service Licensed electrical contractors must perform electrical service. The Development Office maintains a list of approved electrical contractors. ANY ELECTRICAL WORK MUST BE APPROVED BY THE AMERICASMART DEVELOPMENT OFFICE AT Please do this PRIOR to contracting for electrical work. Emergency Exits There are several emergency exits on each floor unless otherwise posted. Stairwells are for emergency use only and not for traffic between floors. Most emergency stairwells are unlocked ONLY during markets for floor-to-floor traffic. Smoking in the emergency stairwells violates State of Georgia and local ordinances, and is strictly prohibited. Violations of this policy will result in an immediate $300 per person, per occasion fine to the showroom in which the violator is employed. Trash placed in front of any emergency stairwell is strictly prohibited. Violations of the policy will result in an immediate $300 per day fine to the showroom in violation. Trash may be placed in the corridor after building operating hours; otherwise, trash is to be taken to the freight lobby for daytime housekeeping to pick up. Emergency Fire Evacuation Plan 2-2 Security provides each showroom with a copy of the approved evacuation plan. If you do not receive your copy or need extra copies, call the Director of Security at We recommend a copy be posted in your showroom and that all employees become familiar with the plan. We conduct annual fire evacuation drills and strongly suggest that each showroom employee participate. Register with Security any disabled employees who may have difficulty exiting via the fire exit stairs. If you would like a building emergency system briefing, call the Director of Fire Regulations Per Fulton County ordinances, smoking is prohibited in stairwells, elevators and freight areas, and in all other common areas. Violations of this policy will result in an immediate $300 per person, per occasion fine to the showroom in which the violator is employed. Storage in mechanical rooms and stairwells is prohibited by City of Atlanta fire codes. Flammable materials such as paint, acetylene torches, chemicals, etc. must be stored in approved containers, and Property Management must be advised of the location and classifications. FIRE ESCAPES/EXITS/ FIRE DOORS CAN NEVER BE BLOCKED. For your safety, please report violations immediately to Security or Property Management.
Please be aware that City of Atlanta fire officials have notified AmericasMart of their intention to enforce more rigorously long-existing fire code provisions prohibiting the use of open flames in what the codes refer to as assembly occupancy, the category of use into which our buildings fall. The Standard Fire Prevention Code used by the City states: No person shall cause or permit any open flame to be used in any place of public assemblage... This means no open flame of any kind, including candles, may be burned in showrooms, under any circumstance. AmericasMart along with Atlanta Fire Department will allow showrooms with halogen indoor/outdoor floodlights the option of either changing all bulbs to compact fluorescents or moving all product and trade fixtures 18 to 24 inches below halogen/floodlights. We are aware this may cause a hardship on some of our exhibitors, and we greatly regret any inconvenience the City s policy may cause. However, until the City relaxes its interpretation of the Standard Fire Prevention Code, we must ask you to abide by the present determination. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. 2-3 Insurance Showroom owners are required by lease agreement to meet certain requirements for insurance. Please check with your insurance company to make certain you are adequately protected. A certificate of insurance should be on file with AmericasMart Lease Administration. Be aware that AmericasMart does not insure showroom property, fixtures and/or improvements under any circumstance. Keys Three (3) keys will be provided at no charge for each showroom. Each additional key will cost $5. Only authorized personnel can check out keys. Immediately update key authorization with the Property Management Office each time you have a change in personnel. Pets With the exception of service animals pets are not allowed. Photography Photography is not permitted in AmericasMart without prior approval, except showrooms photographing their own displays/showrooms. Please contact Marketing for authorization. Property Removal Authorization
Showroom owners and managers can authorize removal of product, merchandise and equipment from the building. A property removal authorization or bill-of-sale must accompany any equipment or merchandise leaving the building outside of normal business hours or during market preparations. During business hours, a permanent showroom pass will be sufficient. All building personnel must get a property removal pass from Property Management before removing any property, equipment or trash from the building. Property removal authorizations or copies of bill-of-sale will be surrendered to Security or Registration upon exiting the Mart. Property removal forms are available in Property Management during normal business hours. 2-4 Remodeling/Renovating Showrooms ALL SHOWROOM IMPROVEMENTS MUST BE COORDINATED WITH AMERICASMART ATLANTA DEVELOPMENT OFFICE. This includes minor improvements such as painting and wallpapering. Major showroom improvements must be permitted by AmericasMart and the City of Atlanta. Prior to the issuance of an AmericasMart Building permit, two (2) sets of detailed plans showing all proposed showroom improvements must be submitted for approval to AmericasMart s Development Office. It is the responsibility of your contractor to obtain proper permits from the City of Atlanta. Requirements of Atlanta Building Codes and AmericasMart s Building Design and Code requirements apply to all construction. See the Development section of this manual for further information.
