1 Bachelor of Applied Business (Hospitality Operations Management) Section 1: Program Abstract
2 Bachelor of Applied Business (Hospitality Operations Management) Section 1: Program Abstract George Brown College s Bachelor of Applied Business (Hospitality Operations Management) responds to the hospitality industry s growing need for qualified supervisory and managerial personnel. Graduates from the program are prepared to pursue careers in a range of hospitality enterprises, particularly those that combine culinary and other types of hospitality profit centers, in both domestic and international markets. This unique program has an established presence in the continuum of business and hospitality education offered in Ontario, complementing both university commerce degrees with hospitality specializations, and college diploma programs in hospitality and tourism. Through curriculum developed in collaboration with industry partners, students become technically proficient in the major components and challenges of a hospitality business including its operational processes, cost, finance and revenue management, human resources, facilities, and risk management. With a curriculum grounded in diverse hospitality operations, student learning focuses on food and beverage, accommodation, meetings, conventions and events, with a strong emphasis on the development of hospitality service intelligence. A significant strength for this four-year program is that it has two paid four-month work terms where students are employed full-time in their field of study. Students obtain practical experience, often choosing within the diverse opportunities offered throughout the Greater Toronto Area, which further develops their skills and helps to establish valuable contacts with potential employers and within the industry both locally and globally.
